Chapter 70: Chapter 70: What Have They Been Through?

But the two round ears on his head kept twitching, making it clear he was eavesdropping—and quite blatantly, too.

To Hua Shu and Yuan Qi, having a tiger cub who loved eavesdropping on his parents was a real headache.

Hua Shu sidled up to her mate. "This cub used to just enjoy putting on a cool, aloof act to hit on the young females. How did he pick up this bad habit of eavesdropping on us?"

Yuan Qi replied, "’Maybe he damaged his brain on the salt trading trip.’"

Hua Shu gasped in a low voice, "He’s got brain damage?"

Yuan Qi said, "Yep."

Hua Shu said, "Then tomorrow, we should bring a gift and ask the witch to take a look at him. If that doesn’t work..."

She cautiously glanced at her cub in the straw nest. Seeing his two ears droop, she lowered her voice and said, "...then we’ll just have another, more obedient one."

Upon hearing this, Yuan Qi’s eyes lit up. He nodded eagerly, like a Bird Beast in the forest pecking at seeds. "Yes, yes."

Yuan Lang’s mouth twitched. He suddenly felt a bit sorry for this body’s original owner. ’What kind of unreliable parents are these?’

With the troublesome cub now "asleep," the couple began to chat as they ate. 𝘧𝓇ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝘣𝓃ℴ𝓋𝑒𝑙.𝑐𝘰𝑚

Popping a piece of meat into her mouth, Hua Shu shook her head smugly. "I was pretty awesome today, wasn’t I?"

Yuan Qi’s expression immediately turned serious. "Absolutely. You are the most wonderful female in my heart."

"Yuan Qi~"

"Hua Shu~"

The two called out each other’s names, their voices full of affection.

"BLEGH~" A disgusted gagging sound broke the mood. Unable to take it anymore, Yuan Lang propped himself up on his front paws.

His furry tiger face was filled with disgust. "That’s enough out of you two."

With that, he moved his powerful limbs and darted out of the cave, as if he couldn’t stand his sappy parents for another second.

Hua Shu and Yuan Qi exchanged a look and chuckled. "Trying to take us on? The little cub is still too green for that."

"How’s Da Shi doing?" Hua Shu asked, popping another slice of meat into her mouth as she looked at her mate.

Yuan Qi nodded. "He’s much better. But the witch said he should still rest as much as possible."

Hua Shu nodded. Then, as if remembering something, she gave her mate a smug look, raising her eyebrows. "You know that young female you mentioned last time? The one who gave Shi Lin the medicinal powder? She’s part of our Collection Team now."

Yuan Qi’s hand froze. He looked at her in surprise. "Don’t tell me your victory on the communal collection day was also because of her?"

Hua Shu beamed and nodded, then recounted the day’s collection events to her mate.

She sighed, "If it weren’t for Yue, I don’t know what would’ve happened to Hong today."

After speaking, she reached back and patted the bamboo bag. "I have a feeling that young female is going to bring me even more surprises."

Huddled stealthily in a corner just outside the cave, Yuan Lang felt the corners of his tiger mouth lift in a smug smile. ’So they tried to get me to leave so they could talk privately.’

Hmph!

’How could I leave so easily without getting the information I wanted? I’m a Great General who once infiltrated an enemy nation to steal its strategic deployment maps!’

His tiger face was the very picture of smugness.

’Looks like this young female arrived in this world around the same time I did.’

Yuan Lang raised his front paw to scratch his chin...

"..."

’This posture is so undignified...’

’I was clearly going for a profound, chin-stroking pose. It’s all this tiger body’s fault.’

Stealthily, Yuan Lang stuck his butt in the air, his two round ears perked up to listen for any nearby sounds.

’Good! No one from the clan saw that. Time for a tactical retreat.’

Under a large tree not far away, the Clan Leader watched the Beastman Warrior scuttling backward with his butt high in the air, a truly indescribable expression on his face.

’It was just one salt trading trip. What on earth happened to these young cubs?’
