Chapter 233: Chapter 51 Fran Advances to Legendary

As Northern Noah became wholly transformed into a battlefield of the Undead Tribe, there no longer existed anyone daring to venture there in search of gold.

Most adventurers desiring to make money had no choice but to head further south to Greenberg, either to assist Greenberg in combating demons or to aid the Holy Alliance against the Noble Church.

As for the Noble Church, those who still existed had almost all turned into Half-Demons. Although powerful, their enemy, the Holy Alliance, was backed by several other countries; many high-level mages and magicians had voluntarily joined them too. Compared to distant nations, the Mage Kingdom and Dilante Mage Tower were actually closer to Dionysio, a country that had already embraced evil, therefore being more influenced by it.

If Greenberg and the Holy Alliance truly failed, they too would be doomed. Therefore, many mages and magicians went there to assist.

But they also brought many troubles; even though the magicians dispatched were very cautious, trying their best not to let those of the Fire Element and Metal System enter the battlefield, there were still instances of magicians being influenced by the spreading Abyssal aura, inexplicably turning around to attack those around them.

As for the mages, many inherently had evil tendencies, unfortunately, many of them did not perceive themselves as belonging to the Evil Faction.

Thus, they easily underwent demonization and embraced the Abyss.

Greenberg was slightly better; in the defending cities, Divine Arrays were installed to differentiate factions. Not to mention the dark light of evil, even the grey light of neutral tending towards evil, would be asked to leave.

The Holy Alliance, however, fearing lack of assistance, did not mind the occasional mutations, so people went there attracted by the very generous rewards, but it was purely a matter of luck to survive, as a sudden mutation of someone nearby meant certain death.

Despite the chaos, these nations staunchly refused to request the help of the Undead Tribe. William also did not take it upon himself to offer help, letting the Undead Tribe freely fight in Noah.

He had indeed let the Undead Tribe pass to combat demons but William seemed reluctant just to let Noah off easily, planning to leave them a Northern Border where not a blade of grass grew.

Hill sometimes sat there watching the maps set by the Witnesses, where suddenly a mountain would disappear with a whoosh indicating it had been completely flattened. But if a question mark marked the site of a disappeared mountain, it meant the area might have turned into a deep pit, which they predicted would become a lake in a few years — this was the result they referred to as a consequence of an exclusive battle.

The reason it was usually mountains that suffered, was because the major families of the Undead Tribe were contesting for larger mines.

Regarding the terms "harvesting and counter-harvesting" used by the Undead Tribe, they were in essence small wars but could often last several days. After the wars, the Undead Tribe themselves would die off in large numbers, and the ultimate victor would collect the loot and leave. The towns used as battlefields, however, would become ruins.

Hill sometimes sensed the dissatisfaction of the Natural Consciousness, but It only felt dissatisfaction, not the anger to exterminate the Undead Tribe.

Whether it’s the Natural Consciousness or the World Will, they wouldn’t pay attention to such trivial sacrifices. For Them, the minor Northern Noah was insignificant. As long as it could remove the diseased part of this world, everything was deemed worth it.

The invasion of demons was like a severe illness on this world, for which removing a small piece of flesh to cure the disease seemed trivial.

The longer Hill interacted with the Natural Consciousness, the more he understood the natural knowledge he had learned in the past: nature is both gentle and affectionate, as well as ruthless and indifferent.

It was merely that Hill himself was fortunate enough to be positioned where nature was kind.

Next to the Forest of the Elves, there was only one Abyssal Gate, and the Dwarf Kingdom only had two.

Despite being outnumbered, these two races had more high-ranked individuals, and the highest was but a legendary demon, which didn’t cause them much harm.

Moreover, it was now confirmed by humans that the primary direction of the demon’s attack was human nations. The Elves and Dwarfs were merely harassed.

If it were other countries, they might have been blinded by the might of the Elves and Demons, but in Saral, where everyone had basic education, accompanied by the constant streaming of video recordings in the cities, in the mouths of its citizens, the Elves and Dwarves had lost their former status and were considered accomplices of the demons.

The Elf Princess in the Capital of Saral, accompanied by her followers, had also heard many unpleasant words.

Once, in a fit of anger, she stormed into the Royal Palace, demanding that William punish the insolent citizens, or else the Elves would take matters into their own hands.

She was promptly expelled from the Royal Palace, thrown out along with her entourage, leaving only William’s furious voice behind: "To scorn the Deities with a mortal body, who do you think you are? Go ahead and try to lay a hand on my citizens."

It was said that on that very day, the Chancellor came to ask when that group of Elves was leaving Saral, and shockingly, they endured the humiliation and merely chose not to leave their residence anymore. 𝐟𝕣𝗲𝕖𝕨𝗲𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝗲𝚕.𝗰𝚘𝐦

After hearing about this incident, Hill became even more certain of William’s dissatisfaction with the Elf Deity System. However, he also noticed something else, the Dwarves, similarly proud and disdainful of humans, didn’t even dare to protest the curses from humans in front of William.

It was probably because most Elves were oblivious, so this little Princess felt aggrieved and angry, but the Dwarves, possibly in a somewhat higher position, at least knew some details.
