Surviving The Fourth Calamity-Chapter 234 - 51: Fran’s Advancement to Legendary_2
At times, Hill sat in his study watching the starry sky, the silver River of Time and Space flowing quietly, countless tiny silver beads sparkling brilliantly. He really wanted to know what exactly the God of Time and Space, who had just delivered that earth-shattering strike, was doing now.
Although it was widely rumored among mages that the God of Time and Space had also been seriously injured by that terrible strike and could only recuperate by sealing off the Divine Kingdom for a while,
Hill always felt it might not be the case. The eyes of this deity, he suspected, were probably already fixed on the Elf and Dwarves God Systems.
After all, the way William was releasing information was almost like testing whether the Art of War by Using Spies and the Thirty-Six Stratagems, specifically the tactic of letting the enemy off to catch him again, were applicable in this world.
Even Hill only had a slight inkling after List had painstakingly sifted through the messages, but nonetheless, from some of the things William was doing, one could feel an unshakeable sense of malicious pleasure, showing he was in no hurry at all.
A week ago, Youth Journey of the Wenjian World showcased its prowess in the Northern Noah, and coupled with past military exploits, a mega-city was erected on the coast of Cortez.
This was a city built on the edge of a cliff.
However, the cliff itself was actually hollowed out, and the outer walls were turned into a kind of translucent hard stone, Quartz Jade.
Aside from being hard, this stone really had no other significant uses. The magic arrays carved on it were one-third less effective than those on obsidian, yet the magical power consumed in the conversion hardly differed.
But the Undead Tribe did not care about wasting time and manpower.
Inside the cliff, they constructed a row of Floating Stairways to connect the upper and lower parts.
At the very bottom of the cliff under the sea, they also constructed an underwater palace that boasted hugely massive gates.
And on the day the Crystal Palace was finally completed, a small family of Mosaic Crabs swiftly moved into the palace below the water.
Hill’s feelings were complicated as he observed. The Undead’s domain had already surpassed the entire Saral Country in terms of legendary figures.
William didn’t feel much about it, and even happily approved their chosen name: Youth Journey Crystal Palace.
Hill had not thought much of it, until the day of the naming ceremony, where he saw people almost mobbing the Young Master over the name.
Only then did he realize that the original name they wanted was Jade Ice Urn.
But since the Young Master was the Clan Leader, it was he who submitted the name.
He had already felt that the name was not suitable for their family, and moreover, it didn’t include the words "Wenjian"; he was actually quite dissatisfied, but since it was a democratic vote, he had to reluctantly agree.
However, when William vetoed the name Jade Ice Urn, saying it was too unsuitable for city names in this world,
The Young Master gleefully used the name he preferred, which was initially the runner-up in the preliminary selection for the city name: Youth Journey Crystal Palace.
After doing so, he felt a bit guilty himself and told no one.
When the Lord’s Mansion opened at last and the city name emerged on the gate, many at Wenjian thought they were dreaming. Upon catching the Young Master and learning the truth, they were nearly driven mad.
Yet at the time, no one expected William to veto the name, so they had no backup plan prepared. Materials had been delivered, military exploits were spent, and without a decision within half an hour, William would have randomly chosen a name.
The Young Master choosing a name wasn’t wrong, the problem was his taste never aligned with the majority. 𝗳𝚛𝚎𝚎𝘄𝕖𝕓𝕟𝕠𝚟𝚎𝕝.𝗰𝕠𝐦
Initially, players who were jealous of Wenjian’s many legends didn’t care anymore since, after all, boasting about having many legends in the Youth Palace seemed impressive!
Yet Hill suspected that William keeping silent about not using classical names was just waiting for this day.
Having been tormented by players for so long, he needed to regain some dignity.
That day, many players were frantically flipping through player’s handbooks and such; after all, many small city names were quite strange.
Eventually, Hill figured out a bit, using the Territory Order issued by the Temple of Time and Space to build cities could be done freely since it was the players’ own and not within Saral Border.
But cities exchanged with military exploits after the public beta could only use names that fit Saral common knowledge.
Well, Hill smirked, Wenjian also survived a calamity as Youth Palace was just a nickname. It was much better than having a name like Chuunibyou Teenager City or simply Young Master City boldly plastered over the city gates. Hill thought William could absolutely do it.
During this period, Black Rose saw a large number of mages coming to Hill’s Lord’s Mansion daily to work tirelessly on an assembly line.
They were really just assembly line workers who got paid by the piece—the more they did, the more money they received from their families.
Many people would buy some tasty food after work and sit in the small square to enjoy the scenery.
The female villagers in Hill’s Domain, who had all become Knights, no longer worked in the kitchens.
Their daily life involved guarding the village: opening and closing the town gates in the morning and evening and occasionally helping people with directions.
For their fields, they merely needed to rent specialized farming puppets from the Lord’s Mansion in the spring to easily complete their tasks, and everything else was relatively easy for them, now that they were Knights.
Since there were no longer any cooks, the new kitchen puppets that List had devised were placed in the inn.
The players were utterly amazed the first time they tried the food, especially since chefs of such calibre would not normally cook unless there were legendary seafood like last time! But here in Hill’s Domain, as long as you had money, you could eat this food!
These kitchen puppets, using List’s exclusive cooking secrets, were not only extraordinarily expensive but also were strictly not for takeout.
As a result, players who worked hard all day on the assembly line would spend half of their earnings in Hill’s small inn.
Hill initially loved going to the town, watching the big screen to refresh his mind, and listening to the players gossip.
But once he went there, the prying eyes that followed him everywhere made him very uncomfortable. The Elves probably thought they were being discreet, but for Hill, who was extremely intuitive, it was glaringly obvious and annoying.
Hill really wanted to react, but he couldn’t.
Fran was working on becoming a Legend, and Hill absolutely did not want to cause any trouble that might affect his grandfather.
He could only do as Adrian did, burying himself in the Magic Tower and never leaving.
Hill had List send the conversations between the Elves and Dwarves to Fran’s Tower Spirit Mont daily. Although Hill did not know how Fran had managed to become on good terms with William, the news from the Tower Spirit was certainly obtained directly from William.
Hill specifically instructed List to capture the tone of those folks, hoping it would be useful on William’s end.
Despite the many troubles, they still had to get through their days.
Even when summer arrived swiftly, and Hill was curious about the pattern of the flowers the players had planted, he hesitated and chose to postpone seeing them.
Hill had List make a record of the players’ live streams; he didn’t want to watch them just yet. He was saving the surprise, hoping that by the end of summer, he would be able to see it with his own eyes.
Perhaps it was due to Hill’s deep resentment, but as he was replenishing the Water System Divine Art for the small snail beads in the fountain, the sky above Fran’s Territory suddenly changed dramatically.
All sorts of objects appeared in the sky, constantly disintegrating and recombining.
Various Elements’ Runes also fluttered ceaselessly.
Hill spotted the Wind Runes with sharp eyes and smiled with satisfaction.
Although he hadn’t said it aloud, Hill had discreetly shown his pendant to Fran, hoping his grandfather could offer some advice.
Even though Fran had seen it, he had maintained his composure, but it seemed now that he had truly understood.
Fran insisted on building an Alchemy Factory in Hill’s Lord’s Mansion and then slowly returning to his territory to advance, all to minimize the exposure and danger to Hill.
If Fran had returned to his Magic Tower to progress after seeing it that day, Hill, being a Nature Warlock, would have certainly attracted a lot of attention. Knowing the risks yet still showing him the Wind Element, how could Fran be willing to leave Hill with heavy pressure?
But his grandfather really had no interest in the path of the gods!
A mage who wanted to leave a possibility of ascension would never involve so many elements of the Laws; he would unequivocally choose between life and destruction, not leaving himself with conflicting rules of the Magical System.
And by using the understanding of Alchemy—the Law of Disintegration-Recomposition and Equivalent Exchange—as his Main Law, and connecting all elements including life and destruction, Fran was determined to blaze his own trail on the path of the Alchemist without looking back!
Hill felt proud of his grandfather, but he also harbored some doubts about his own future, feeling that he might not be someone who could steadfastly walk the path of the mage.
Just how far could the Natural Laws support him?
