Chapter 133: Bite Into My Arm, And Drink. 133

Enzo’s smirk faded, and his arms hung awkwardly in the air, momentarily caught off guard. Slowly, he lowered his arms, wrapping them securely around her in return. He tilted his head, resting his cheek atop her head as he murmured, "You don’t need to thank me, cupcake. I promised you I’d help you expose them. And that’s simply what I did."

She shook her head against his chest. "No. Thank you." She squeezed him a little tighter. "And you have to accept it."

He sighed, surrendering. "Alright, alright." His hand trailed up and down her head gently, his fingers running through her blonde strands.

A comfortable silence settled between them, and then, almost in a whisper, she said, "I love you."

He had heard her perfectly, but, being Enzo, he couldn’t resist milking it. A mischievous grin spread across his face, and he hummed, pretending as if he hadn’t caught those three words. "Hmm? What was that? I didn’t quite hear you. Mind saying it again?"

He was listening intently, his ear twitching slightly, waiting for her to say it again. But instead of words, he was met with a soft groan.

Thinking it was just her usual annoyed groan, he laughed. "Come on, cupcake," he teased. "It’s just three words."

Then, suddenly, he felt her grip on him loosen. Her body swayed a bit, her weight pressing into him in an entirely different way now.

His teasing expression vanished in an instant, and he pulled back, gripping her shoulders to steady her as he glanced down at her face. "Adeline?"

She looked drained, her eyelids heavy, and her breathing slower. As one of her hands moved to cup her forehead, Enzo’s brows furrowed in concern. "Are you alright, my dear?"

She let out another small groan. "I suddenly feel... dizzy and weak."

"Alright, let’s get you down for a second." Carefully, he lowered her, letting her kneel on the floor as he also knelt in front of her.

His hands moved to brush aside strands of her hair, tucking them behind her ears so he could see her face properly. His blue eyes scanned her, searching for any obvious cause of her sudden exhaustion.

"Is your head throbbing?"

She gave a slow nod. "A little bit."

"I figured as much. It’s your body," he said knowingly. "It needs blood. It’s understandable. You lost some when you were shot, and now, your body is trying to adjust."

He cupped her cheek lightly, his thumb stroking her skin in slow, comforting motions. "You need to replenish it."

He didn’t even give Adeline time to process what he had just said before he pulled up his sleeve, revealing the almost pale skin of his forearm. Bringing it close to her face, he said, "Bite."

Adeline recoiled, her nose scrunching up in disgust. "What?" Her voice came out appalled.

"Bite into my arm and drink my blood," he repeated nonchalantly as if it were the most normal request in the world.

She shook her head furiously, her brow knitting together into a small frown. "No. I am not drinking your blood. What the fuck, Enzo?"

A sigh left his lips, but his expression remained calm as he continued to urge her. "Don’t worry. It’s perfectly fine for one vampire to drink another vampire’s blood... as long as they’re mates."

"What do you mean, mates?" The second the words left her mouth, she waved her hand dismissively. "You know what? Whatever. I’m still not drinking your blood."

Enzo’s expression deadpanned, and he let out a long, drawn-out sigh before pulling his arm back. "Fine. If you want to go hungry, pass out, and probably die, then be my guest."

He crossed his arms over his chest, his face firm, but deep down, he was worried, hoping she’d actually listen.

"I’ll eat when we get home," she said, huffing.

She pressed both hands against the floor, attempting to push herself up, but the second she lifted herself even an inch, a wave of dizziness struck her so hard she nearly collapsed forward. She caught herself, landing back on her knees, her arms trembling beneath her weight.

Enzo shifted closer before sitting completely on the ground, his hand encircling her wrist. With a gentle tug, he drew her in, positioning her directly in front of him on the ground, with her nestled between his legs. His strong arms cradled her waist, holding her snugly against his chest.

His head bent down a touch, his lips hovering by her ear as he murmured, "You’re a vampire now, Adeline. Human food won’t do anything for you."

Adeline swallowed hard, her breath slightly uneven as she felt his warmth pressing against her back. Despite knowing that she needed blood, she still felt human—she still felt like she should be able to function without having to do this. But the weakness in her limbs said otherwise.

Enzo brought his arm in front of her again, the same way he had earlier, but this time, his tone was almost pleading. "Please, just drink. Trust me, it’s perfectly normal, and I promise, you’ll like it."

Adeline didn’t say anything. She simply stared at his arm, her lips pressing into a thin line.

Seeing her hesitation, Enzo decided to take matters into his own hands. Bringing his arm to his mouth, he let his fangs elongate before sinking them into his own skin.

When he pulled back, two small holes remained, and almost immediately, blood began to drip from the punctures, the dark crimson liquid trailing down the curve of his arm.

The moment the scent hit her, something inside Adeline snapped. Her chest tightened, and her throat burned with a hunger she no longer understood.

Unconsciously, her fangs extended, and her hands grasped Enzo’s wrist with an intensity that felt somewhat foreign, not entirely in her control. She wasn’t thinking anymore—just reacting.

A sense of satisfaction flickered in Enzo’s eyes as her fingers clutched tighter, and in response, he pressed his arm closer, silently encouraging her. "That’s it... Go ahead."

"Are you sure?" She hesitated, her gaze darting upwards to meet his.

"Yes, my dear. Go on," he assured her.

Nodding, she tilted forward, her lips splitting apart as her fangs pierced his skin, sinking deep into his flesh.
