Sweet Revenge With My Billionaire Vampire-Chapter 23: Your Choice
As soon as Enzo closed the door, he froze at the sound of a voice behind him.
"What are you doing?"
Spinning around, his eyes darted to the bed, then to Adeline, who stood by the dresser with her arms crossed and a suspicious look on her face.
"Weren’t you just—" he murmured, gesturing to the bed. Giving his head a little shake, he let out a small sigh. "Never mind. It was Andrei. Just had some business matters to discuss."
Adeline turned away, now uninterested in his explanation. "Whatever," she murmured, heading toward the bathroom. Enzo sighed in relief once the door clicked shut behind her.
---
A few hours later, Adeline sat in front of her vanity, brushing her hair slowly while Enzo sat on the couch flipping through the files he was reviewing.
The knock on the door broke the silence, and Enzo looked up, frowned, and placed the files aside before standing to go answer it. When he opened the door, Uncle Alfonso stood on the threshold with a serious expression.
Enzo leaned against the doorframe, towering over the older man with a small smirk. "Ah, good morning, future uncle-in-law. Hope you slept well."
Alfonso ignored his greeting, glancing into the room. "Where’s Adeline? I came to see her."
Shrugging, Enzo stepped aside, gesturing lazily toward Adeline. "She’s all yours."
"What is it, Uncle Alfonso?" Adeline asked as she approached the door, smoothing down her t-shirt.
Alfonso reached into his coat and pulled out a neatly folded letter. "This arrived from the Caddel family. They’re to collaborate with us again and want to schedule a meeting this afternoon. Since Mother is gone and you’re going to be the new company owner soon, it’s best that you go. You’ve been to enough meetings with her, so you should be able to handle it."
Adeline accepted the letter and looked at it for a moment before nodding her head. "Alright. A meeting shouldn’t be so hard."
"Good. I’ll let the staff know to prepare a car for you." With that, he turned and left.
Adeline closed the door and walked back toward the mirror, tossing the letter onto the desk. Enzo, watching her from the couch, tilted his head curiously. "What did he want?"
She let out a tired groan before slumping into her chair. "I have a meeting this afternoon."
---
Later that afternoon, Adeline stepped out of the elevator on the first floor, wearing a black pantsuit that hugged her body perfectly, paired with high heels. Her hair was tied into a neat bun, with a few loose strands, and she carried a small black purse on her side.
Enzo walked beside her, dressed in a black tuxedo with his hair tied into a messy bun as always, a complete opposite of Adeline’s.
As they reached the front door, Adeline noticed his furrowed brows and sighed, annoyed. "You really don’t have to come, Enzo."
Enzo stopped abruptly, pulling her back and forcing her to turn and face him. His expression hardened as he crossed his arms. "Why don’t you want me to come?"
"It’s nothing. I just don’t need you hovering over me all the time."
"That’s not an answer, Adeline Smith. How am I supposed to keep my word about protecting you if you’re just going to waltz off to a meeting alone?"
Adeline rolled her eyes and turned away, but Enzo stepped in front of her, blocking her path. "You know you’re a target. Is this some kind of a game to you? Are you trying to make it easier for them?"
If Adeline were being honest with herself, she didn’t want to go to the meeting alone. As much as Enzo annoyed her, there was something about him always being around that she liked, but she just doesn’t want to admit it.
"It’s just a meeting," she muttered, more to herself than to Enzo, before reaching for the door.
She barely touched the handle before his hand caught her wrist and pulled her back again.
"You’re not going without me, Adeline. It’s either I come with you, or we both stand here like this all day. Your choice."
Adeline looked down at his hand holding her wrist and then back up at his face. His stubborn expression told her he wasn’t bluffing.
"Are you serious?" she asked, exasperated.
"Completely."
With an annoyed sigh, she relented, pulling her arm free. "Fine."
As they made their way to the garage, Adeline reached into her purse, pulling out the keys to her car. She headed straight for her car, but as she reached the door, Enzo stepped in front of her, blocking her way.
"What now?" she asked, fixing a glare at him.
Enzo grinned and held up another key, dangling it in front of her. "Why don’t we take the Rolls Royce I got you instead? You haven’t even driven it yet."
Adeline shook her head, nudging him to move. "Some other time."
But Enzo remained where he was standing. "Come on, Adeline. That one’s way more fun than this....boring thing. It’s faster, bulletproof, and did I mention it’s so much faster?"
Adeline looked down at the floor, a small smile gracing her lips for a brief moment before she lifted her eyes back up to meet his gaze. "Fine, but move. I need to grab something."
Satisfied, Enzo let her push him aside, and Adeline wasted no time, opening the door to her car, slipping in, and closing it behind her.
She started the engine before rolling down the window. "If you’re not in here in five seconds, I’m leaving without you."
Enzo’s eyebrows shot up in surprise. He had been outmaneuvered by a simple human. Shaking his head with a wry smile, he muttered, "You’re no fun at all," before walking to the passenger side.

As they drove out of the mansion’s gates, Alfonso emerged from the small storage house nearby, accompanied by the middle-aged mechanic who maintained the estate’s cars. Together, they watched the car disappear down the long driveway.
"Did you do it?" Alfonso asked without turning his gaze.
The mechanic nodded and extended his hand.
Alfonso placed a stack of cash into it before turning and heading back toward the mansion.
