Chapter 92: Turn hunt I

As one, they all tore their scrolls.

Six bolts of golden light tore out of the scrolls and shot upward at the dark ceiling above them. The darkness melted away from them as the light punched through.

Then the six lights hung there like small stars.

It is not ordinary light, or Severin would have bought a less expensive version of it. The scrolls also contain elements of holy powers.

And the light fell on the remaining darkness that surrounded them.

The darkness cleared immediately.

"What the fuck!" Derrick shouted.

And he was echoing the shock and surprise on everyone’s mind.

With the darkness cleared and the light shining on the dark cloaks, they finally saw what had been following them and surrounded them the night before.

They were surrounded by monsters, as if they were in a boxing ring and the monsters were cheering them on. Red, dull eyes stared at them from different angles.

It was a creepy sight that made them shudder.

Goosebumps laced Julius’s skin, and he adjusted his glasses so fast he nearly slapped them from his face. To think that they had been followed and surrounded by such monsters staring at them without them even knowing.

It sent chills down their spines.

In that brief moment, both monsters and Etherion users stared at each other in surprise.

But then Severin raised his hand and said in a controlled voice, "Kill them."

Ethan moved first. He stepped forward, his face hard with disgust as he swung his weapon. A ripple of force followed his hammer, and the first line of black cloaks in front of him was crushed into mangled meat.

The sound of bones snapping and skulls popping seemed to yank the other monsters out of the shock of being thrown into the spotlight.

They showed their dark fangs and claws as they jumped forward.

Even then, the monsters made no sounds as they hurried forward, their claws swiping the air.

But just as Severin said earlier, they are weaker without their mental powers and beneath the light.

With Julius in the middle, the others surrounded him with their backs turned. Serena made her construct of hands holding swords again, but much smaller, easier to fight something closer to her height.

But she did not immediately fight with that. She just created them to be her defense. Her main attack was the ashes that spread on the ground in front of her, covering the ground like frost.

The monsters ran over it without hesitation, and that was when she struck. Spikes grew out of the ground, tips sharp and deadly with sides glowing with embers.

About twenty monsters died from that alone, and even as their bodies hit the ground, she was already manipulating the ashes into something else to fight.

Celia and Derrick fought side by side.

As the two who fought mainly in close combat, they got closer to the rushing monsters before they started fighting. Punches flew out from the two of them, one explosive and one just raw power that tore the monsters into bits.

Ethan fought as if he was playing a game of touch.

He would spread his hand, and then the gravity of the areas he wanted would increase so fast that the monsters’ bones would snap and crush before they knew what hit them.

He did not move from his place as the monsters rushed him, and yet he killed them all. "This is too easy. It is as if all the monsters’ bones are made of twigs!"

And yet the only person having a problem was Severin.

One on one against an opponent, and he might have a chance, but against a tide? It is trouble. This was one area he had not been able to fill up, and it showed the difference between him and the others.

But even then, he faced the monsters calmly. Unlike the others, and with the evasion technique, he had an advantage. He told Julius to move closer to the others, and then he ran into the midst of the monsters.

It was as if he was one of them with the way they did not look his way. The dark cloaks could be said to be masters of the evasion technique, and Severin fit right in.

He did not kill any of them as he found a way to move deeper into the tide without seeming to be going against their current. If it was any other person, they might have been afraid with the way he rubbed shoulders with the monsters.

But Severin did not care.

He had confidence in his power.

Suddenly, the flow of monsters stopped as he got behind the tide.

There, the biggest and fattest of the monsters stood, surrounded by five tougher-looking dark cloaks.

Severin raised his sword, and with a slash powered by the acceleration, he cut down two of the guards. The other three rushed over, and he killed all of them as well.

He was faced with the boss.

"You fat bastard," Severin muttered.

The boss is responsible for controlling the other dark cloaks with its mental powers. That is why they are so organized and good at trailing their prey. They function as a single limb.

And the boss was responsible for that, also the one that has the power to mess with their prey, only amplified by the other monsters.

The boss that is so weak itself.

Severin stepped forward, and his sword flashed. The head of the boss flew into the air, spinning with blood gushing beneath. Severin caught the head and climbed into a tree.

Immediately, the mad rushing and the single-minded focus that the dark cloaks displayed collapsed, and they began to run back.

Severin watched how his team would respond.

Julius quickly called out orders.

Ethan stayed beside Julius while the others rushed forward, slaying the monsters but still within Julius’s range.

Severin nodded. "Not bad. They did not forget that Julius is the most important and that they must not get far from his side."

He looked down at the monster’s head in his hand and nodded in satisfaction. "I know just how to trade this."
