Yu Hua

Yu Hua rose the next morning, two hours early, and walked straight to his wardrobe. The cabinet was overflowing with clothes in all shades. He loved them all, and he owned far too many. He sighed and then picked up a carefully put-together outfit.

"For going there." He muttered and then packed his swimming trunks. "For during the test." and then another outfit, "For once, I am finished and basking in the glory of having pulled it off." He stated and then went to the first outfit and changed.

A simple one, tunic and pants with simple, well-placed embroidery, and his most comfortable dress sandals. He put the others into storage.

Along with a measuring band and some rope, as many knives he was able to fit, his chains, the ones he got from Gale way back, a pair of gale original googles, which he had especially ordered half a year ago and the metal-plated gloves he had made a while back. They weren't perfect but modeled after Tang Yin's breakers as an inspiration.

They hurt, really hurt when a hit was made to the other party and wrickedly effective.

Swimming from one side of the shore to the other through the spirit beast territory, all on his own, the time limit was half a day, was still going to be tricky.

Inside water, his spirit was helpless, his usual tricks futle, his prized speed gone, his flames nothing. All he had was his spirit power and his physical strength.

None of it was his strong suit. Not before, at least. He had trained himself for a year, practiced diligently, and exceeded his usual efforts. He was bulkier now, more trained for strength than speed and stealth. The very thing he needed to survive this endevour.

Waltzing downstairs, he saw Yin and Jiang. Yin was lounging on the couch, and Jiang apparently had made breakfast, leaving a portion of considerable size behind for him.

Thankful, he nodded and wolfed the food down. In his mind, a pattern for a pretty A-Line dress was coursing.

Made of sequins, this soft pastel pink features a combination of warm browns. Then his mood shifted to the same pastel, but a floor-length mermaid dress with scales made of crushed seashells, shining in an iridescent light. He would nee...

"World to Yu Hua." A familiar voice said, and he jerked away.

"Yes." He grumbled, a tone higher than he liked to.

"You'll do just fine," Yin assured him, and he shuddered on the inside. He'd certainly try, but he'd no idea if he'd manage to finish.

"Of course I will." He said, telling it as much himself as her. "As if I would falter before a measly gods test."

"Yep, that sounds more like you. Let's go." Yin stretched out her hand. Which he took, and then he took a deep breath.

Right, he'll do just fine. He knew that.

On the way to the beach, they made a brief stop by the temple and dropped in some coins for good luck. It certainly would not hurt to ask and then end up on the beach.

Unlike When Tang Yin, who had red level exams to pass, he had not expected any audience. Still, the Sea Dragon Douluo was present, winking at Jiang, who snapped at him with a growl, and the sea horse Douluo, who had given him his exam too watching. Observers, wishing him good luck.

Yu Hua went to a tree, changed behind it, and then stepped on the beach. He knew every inch of the spirit beasts residing in these waters at this point.

Most of them unfriendly.

"Good luck, go wreak them!" Tang Yin shouted, and Yu Hua cast a look at the shore, which was his designated goal. Stepping inside the cool water.

No beast this far up the shore with a century millennium spirit beast and two douluo close, but once he was fifty meters in all bets were off. The water crushed against the beach. He counted waves to get the most ideal one to jump inside. This was not the protected beach where Yin learned to swim but the open sea.

At the seventh wave. He sprinted and then jumped into the wave, the salty water surrounding him. With a single stroke and the moving of his legs, he catapulted himself forward, repeating the motion a second time to get away into an open zone away from the dangers of the of the shore.

Since his spirit power was severely limited, he would need to rely on physical skills for as long as needed.

Opening his eyes underwater, the Googles from Gale was a godsend. His sight was clear as if they were above water, better then usual. He had no clue what Gale had tweaked to achieve those results but he wanted to thank him once again.

He went upside down to get a good breath of air and enjoy the seconds of peace before he started swimming.

Long-practiced movements took control as he kept a keen eye on both his goal and the underwater environment.

There were several currents he needed to watch for as well. Two were not that dangerous. Underwater currents should technically not touch him as long as he remained on the surface; the third was the problem.

A surface current that would carry him further outside than he could manage to swim back of caught him.

The last time he had been caught by a current like that, it had been pure luck he made it back in one piece.

The waves were rolling at him when he spotted the first spirit beast. A large fish, colored in silver, with a red belly.

A red-bellied carnivorous sardine. Moves in large swarms, fast and agile. He looked around until his lungs burned to spot the rest of the swarm.

Nowhere. He turned and saw the swarm behind him. Cursing. They were out for blood.

Carnivorous sardines ate whatever came between their teeth, moved in swarms, and were a bother to deal with. Still, these were low-level and easily curable with blood.

He took out a pack of sheep blood from his storage and let it loose. Waiting until it had sunken a nit before shooting a small sleeve arrow through the water.

The flying distance, speed, and penetrative power were only a fraction of what they were out of water, but it was enough for his purposes. ƒreewebɳovel.com

The pack burst, and the water turned red. The scent of blood hitting the sardines, who promptly went and dived for it with him, swimming away as fast as he could manage.

Then something wrapped around his ankle, and he was dragged downwards. A quiet cry left his mouth, bubbles rising to the surface.
