"Your majesty...!" a male servant knocked lightly on the divider "There’s’..."

"Didn’t I tell you that I will not be meeting with anyone for the rest of the day?" I shouted, "I don’t care if it’s my mother coming back from the dead, I simply do not want to see anyone... no visitor... is it too hard to understand that?"

"But your majesty!" he insisted.

I rose with rage and charged towards the divider meaning to give him a lesson of his life. As I swung open the door, my gaze met with that of Selene hovering around the door, an anxious look on her face. When she saw me, her face relaxed as she gave me a small smile and took a step in my direction.

"Please don’t kill him," she said with a small pout that wanted to make me pin her to the wall and kiss her senseless "I wanted to see you so badly that I put him up to keep pestering you, with hopes that you would let me see you but if it’s going to be too much bother then I can just go and come back another time," she bowed curtly to me and started for the door.

Almost at the door, I heaved a sigh... "It’s fine, you can come in but only for a limited amount of time, I don’t wish for company at this point," I said as she walked up to me with a bright smile "And if you’re going to say what will annoy me, Selene... you should decide against it. I am neither in the right frame of mind to have any thought process,".

"No problems, darling," she said offering me another patronizing smile which I tried hard to not return. As I ushered her into the bedroom, I noticed her eyes roving around the place with awe. "I didn’t know such a place existed in Moon Whisper. It’s so beautiful and cosy, nothing like your other room," she commented. "I was so alarmed when I didn’t see you in your room, thankfully Beta Reid was forthcoming today and directed me here,".

"Yeah," I nodded "So, to what do I owe this visit?" I asked. "But first, do you want a drink or anything?"

"No," she shook her head as she sank in softly next to me on the mattress "I came to check up on you and make sure you’re doing well and I didn’t get a chance to thank you for allowing the Office of the Luna to become official now. it means so much to me and I’m sorry that you had to go against your father and the pack elders,".

"I told you, Selene," I smiled "I. will do everything for you... Anything that puts a smile on your face and will make you more interested in me, I will do it,".

"C’mon!" she sighed guiltily "When you put it like that, it makes me feel like I’m some wicked, bitchy person. I love you in my way...maybe not in the way you think or want but believe me, I want to remain a wife to you and you - my husband too,".

My eyes strayed to her lips again... I must have a taste of them or I will go insane. "Do you know what I wish above anything in this moment?"

"Tell me!" she replies eagerly, "If it’s in my power to do it, I promise I will grant your request. So, let’s hear it," she urged me drawing closer to me and even putting a hand on my thigh. I wanted to enjoy this moment and tell myself that she was here because she genuinely cared and that this was not a clickbait to get me to do what she wanted but I couldn’t bring myself to think that. I didn’t want to jinx whatever affection I was been shown now.

"A kiss..." I murmured watching her "I want you to kiss me Selene and after that, lay down with me and hold me in your arms until I fall asleep. Then you can leave or go do whatever it is you want,".

Although she was smiling so brightly, I felt her hesitate for a moment. "Janet said we shouldn’t..."

"It’s not sex I want, Selene," I sighed sadly reaching for her hands "I just want to kiss those beautiful lips again and have you hold me. I am truly not in the right state of mind to feel any form of passion but if you do not feel comfortable with my request, I will not force you,".

"No!" she shook her head slowly as she fiddled with her hands "I just need to confirm something from you. I know it’s not much of a big deal to you but I just want to know and be sure too,". frёeωebɳovel.com

"I’m listening... what is it?" I asked wishing she would come forth with whatever was troubling her.

"Earlier," she swallowed "Before I came up to the counselling room and it was one of the reasons, I was late, I met Brooke and we had a confrontation where she claimed that you and her slept together this morning. I just want to know if you did that or if she was simply exaggerating,".

"I’ve only been with Brooke once since this whole saga. She did come to my room this morning and behaved improperly but not with how everything ended between me and you last night. I cannot be with a woman when I have unresolved issues with my wife. I know it’s much too late but I am so sorry about last night, Selene. It was truly not my intention to do it,".

"It’s fine," she nodded "And thank you for being truthful about you and Brooke. I am going to be better to you, I promise and this may not be the right place or time to say so but I was speaking with Xavier the other day and I suggested that he take the girls with him back to Greyhound at least for a while. I need to concentrate on you at least until a baby comes and as such, I don’t need a distraction,".

I could tell she was stalling. She was going to ask for something. It was so obvious that even a blind man could see it.

"Are you sure you would be able to cope? This would be the first time you’ll be apart from the girls and you shouldn’t desert my children on my accord. I love them as if they are my own. So, let them stay, we’ll find a way around it,".

"It’s not like they’re going to stay the whole year with their father. Maybe just a month or less but it is to give us time to explore and rediscover ourselves and maybe we might finally go for that honeymoon without worrying about the babies,".

Any minute now...

"Also, I don’t want you to overreact at the next thing I am going to say and this is because I had no other choice and a lot will be at stake. I don’t know all the details but Xavier will know and he’s requested an audience with you for only five minutes. Please, could you grant him this favour?"

I knew it... that was only what I meant to Selene...
