The Bigshot Married Himself to the Heiress-Chapter 21: They Have No Future
Chapter 21: Chapter 21: They Have No Future
Adrian Desmond forced Sienna Johnson to pull the trigger, and she did. "AH...!" Sienna screamed. Charlie Parker’s face turned deathly pale, and he slowly closed his eyes, awaiting death.
Sienna thought she had killed someone. Trembling all over, she was still in shock when Adrian Desmond’s laughter rang in her ears. "Scared that easily? Stupid! I thought you were more capable. You can’t even kill a person, yet you want to take revenge on Uncle and seek justice?"
"..."
"Useless woman! All you’re good for is bullying me!"
Sienna slowly opened her eyes. She looked up and saw Charlie Parker before her. He was still alive. Then what about the bullet she just fired? "What happened?" she asked.
"The gun wasn’t loaded!" Adrian Desmond mocked.
Charlie Parker breathed a sigh of relief, thinking he had escaped death. But then he saw Adrian Desmond swiftly pull out another pistol, aim it at his forehead, and fire. A hole appeared in Charlie Parker’s forehead. His eyes widened as he stared, dumbfounded, at Adrian Desmond, and then he died.
Everything happened too fast, so quickly that no one could react.
"You killed him?" Sienna asked, astonished, staring at the bullet hole in Charlie’s forehead from which blood was now gushing.
Adrian Desmond drew his gun extremely fast. In just two or three seconds, he had killed a man.
"See that? That’s how you kill someone! You can’t be soft-hearted. You can’t hesitate. The way you are, you’ll only end up being the one who gets killed!" Adrian Desmond said to Sienna, putting away his gun.
"You killed him..." Sienna was still murmuring.
Seeing she was frightened, Adrian Desmond covered Sienna’s eyes with one hand and wrapped his other arm around her waist. He whispered, "The first time I killed someone, I was only thirteen! That man was taller and stronger than me... He wanted to kill me. If I didn’t kill him, I would die! I didn’t want to die. My sister was only eight years old then. If I died too, what would happen to my sister? So, I had to be ruthless... So, I killed him.
Killing someone doesn’t feel good. After I killed for the first time, I had nightmares for a long time... I dreamed that the man came to claim my life."
Adrian Desmond laughed coldly, mocking himself. "Look how stupid I am. There’s no such thing as vengeful spirits claiming lives in this world. If there were, there wouldn’t be so many bad people on this planet."
"..."
"Mai, don’t be soft-hearted towards your enemies. The moment you are, you’ll be in danger. Do you understand?"
Sienna didn’t understand the man before her at all. She vaguely knew he was involved in shady businesses and wasn’t a good person. The fact that he had killed a man right in front of her still shocked her.
From the beginning, he had shown her pity and tenderness. Otherwise, she would have met the same fate as Charlie Parker today.
"...So, are we just going to let Uncle go?" If they didn’t eliminate Uncle, she definitely wouldn’t be the last victim, she thought. More girls would follow in her footsteps.
Just thinking about her own ordeal made Sienna feel frightened by how perilous it had been. She couldn’t bear the thought of other girls suffering such horrific experiences.
"The Himakati government can’t even touch him. You can’t even bring yourself to kill one person, yet you think you can deal with him? ...Mai, stop fooling around. Come back with me!" Adrian Desmond urged.
Not far away was the Himakati border. Armed Himakati soldiers could be faintly seen on the observation deck. The border was enclosed by an electrified barbed wire fence to prevent illegal crossings. On the other side of the fence was a chaotic country. Sienna, having lived in an era of peace, couldn’t imagine life in a country still plagued by war.
She had indeed been impulsive earlier. With her current abilities, seeking revenge on Uncle would be no easy task. She might even end up getting herself killed. At this point, she needed to think things through carefully.
"Alright, I’ll go back with you," Sienna conceded.
Adrian Desmond was secretly pleased. He pinched her nose with an indulgent expression. "That’s my good girl."
"Can you send them back to their families?"
Adrian Desmond’s face darkened. "It seems you still haven’t taken my words to heart!" he said, displeased.
"The ones who died..." Sienna conceded a step. "Just bury them. As for the living ones, please send them home. This journey has been so perilous; they must be terrified."
The women had all woken up. Thinking Adrian Desmond and his men were villains, they huddled together like frightened little birds, cowering, weeping silently. They looked utterly miserable.
"I came here to bring you back. Whether these other people live or die has nothing to do with me! I don’t have enough compassion to waste on such meaningless things."
"..."
"Mai, know when to stop."
Sienna didn’t continue arguing with Adrian Desmond. She walked to an open area and surveyed the surroundings. Adrian, uneasy, followed her.
"What are you doing?"
"Helping them find a good burial site."
"You know Geomancy?"
"No. But whether for the living or the dead, everyone prefers a good environment. Choosing a Ferguson spot, one with lush vegetation, can’t be wrong."
Because it was dark, Sienna couldn’t properly survey the terrain. She just chose a Ferguson location with a large tree. Sienna decided to bury the four dead women there.
Adrian Desmond saw that Sienna wouldn’t go back with him obediently unless the women were dealt with. He had no choice but to reluctantly order his men to dig graves and bury them.
Sienna stood silently before the four grave mounds for a long time.
Adrian Desmond said impatiently, "They’re buried. And I’ll have someone send the living women home. Are you satisfied now?"
"Thank you, Adrian Desmond!" Sienna gave him a rare smile. It was the most sincere smile Adrian had seen from her since they met. He was somewhat captivated; Sienna was exceedingly beautiful, a stunning kind of beauty.
"If you really want to thank me, then don’t cause me such big trouble again next time!"
Sienna smiled at him, her attitude ambiguous. She didn’t dislike the man before her as much now, but she still had to escape. She wanted to go home!
This harrowing and perilous trafficking experience had only strengthened Sienna’s resolve to escape. She and the man before her were not of the same world, and she was unwilling to live in the same filthy, dark world as him.
Sienna didn’t dare tell Adrian Desmond any of these thoughts.
They had no future. Leaving aside his shady businesses, just the fact that he had a Fiancee and would marry several Wives in the future was unacceptable to Sienna.
"What are you thinking?"
"Adrian Desmond, you’re very handsome."
Adrian Desmond looked a bit flustered. Sienna, hands behind her back, smiled as she watched his discomposure, then turned to find the other women.
