Chapter 508: Chapter 509: Slapping the Night Owl

"Is this really that important?"

"To me, it’s very important."

Night Owl looked at her, a smile playing on his lips. The glint in his eyes, however, made Sienna Johnson feel violated.

"Although you work for Adrian Desmond, we are not that close. So, I refuse to answer you!"

"Let’s talk about something else then."

In fact, Sienna Johnson didn’t want to dance with him at all, but leaving the dance floor halfway through would be very impolite.

She focused on her dance steps, her face cold, showing no intention of talking to him. However, the man in front of her was quite tactless and kept pestering her with questions.

She was not familiar with Aiden Howard, so she couldn’t pinpoint exactly what was strange about the man before her. She just felt that even though she hadn’t liked the previous Aiden Howard, he hadn’t been as detestable as this current one.

"...Don’t you want to ask me how many women Sixth Master had before?"

Sienna Johnson replied coldly, "If I wanted to know, I’d ask him directly, not you. Regarding such matters, I believe Sixth Master would be far more knowledgeable than you."

"Woman, are you so certain he would tell you the truth?"

Sienna Johnson stared into Aiden Howard’s eyes, examining him closely for the first time. Aiden Howard’s eyes were deep brown, his pupils very dark, like a terrifying abyss.

"He is my husband. Should I distrust my own husband’s words and instead believe those of a stranger?"

"Don’t you know? In a marriage, spouses can actually be the least trustworthy. Take betrayal, for instance. The one betrayed is often the last to find out."

"What exactly are you trying to imply?" Sienna Johnson asked, her gaze guarded.

"Nothing at all. Just casual conversation. Madam, you’re reading too much into it."

He began to focus on dancing.

The man danced superbly, his movements graceful as he led Sienna Johnson effortlessly. However, they were positioned very close, creating an uncomfortably intimate atmosphere.

A flicker of uncertainty arose in Sienna Johnson’s heart. She glanced at the man in front of her, hesitated for a moment, and finally said,

"Although what I’m about to say might make you think I’m being overly sensitive, I believe it’s better to say it plainly.

"Adrian Desmond and I have a wonderful relationship. We’ve overcome many obstacles to be together again, and we both cherish this love deeply.

"I will not give anyone else an opportunity to exploit any perceived vulnerability.

"If you harbor such feelings for me, abandon your delusions!"

It was the first time Night Owl had encountered such an uninteresting woman, and the first time a woman had rejected him. He smirked, a charming yet wicked glint in his eyes.

"You truly are a woman devoid of intrigue. Don’t you understand that the delicate dance of ambiguity between a man and a woman can be a delightful pleasure?"

"..."

"Besides, who can predict the future? Perhaps fate intends for us to be together."

Sienna Johnson replied coldly, "Whether or not there’s any ’fate’ between us is a matter of emotion. However, being involved with multiple people simultaneously is a matter of character. As a married woman, I don’t have the right to engage in flirtatious behavior with other men.

"I’ve heard you’re notoriously promiscuous, always eager to lure any reasonably attractive woman into your bed. However, you’ve misjudged me.

"My principles absolutely forbid me from engaging in any such flirtatious ambiguities with other men while I am married!"

"Woman, you’ve suddenly piqued my interest. Is this your way of playing hard to get?"

Sienna Johnson removed his hand from her waist, raised hers, and slapped him hard across the face.

"This slap is for your earlier transgression!"

"..."

"Remember, I am your Sixth Master’s woman! If you dare try anything like that again, I’ll have Sixth Master deal with you severely!"

Night Owl’s tongue probed the inside of his stinging cheek. He barely restrained the urge to strike her back.

"You’re ruthless! This is the first time in my life a woman has dared to strike me!"

Seeing that the man still hadn’t reflected on his behavior, Sienna Johnson raised her hand and slapped him again.

"The first time is nothing special. If there’s a first, there can be a second. If you don’t properly reflect on your behavior, there will be a third, and a fourth..."

Killer intent filled Night Owl’s eyes, his icy gaze enveloping Sienna Johnson layer by layer.

"Sienna Johnson, you will pay dearly for your audacity and arrogance today!" he warned, his voice thick with menace. His chest heaved violently, a furious inferno raging within him.

The two stared at each other. Sienna Johnson defiantly met the man’s gaze, unafraid, and declared,

"Is that so? I’d like to see if you have what it takes!"

That woman actually thinks I’m Aiden Howard—that worthless, spineless dog of Adrian Desmond’s.

Brett Jacobs had managed to steer Adrian Desmond away, preventing him from seeing Aiden Howard dancing with Sienna Johnson. Just as Brett re-entered the banquet hall, he witnessed Sienna Johnson slap Aiden Howard twice.

The two stood frozen on the dance floor, the tension between them palpable. Aiden Howard looked as if he might lash out at any moment.

This damned Aiden Howard!

Sienna Johnson turned and strode off the dance floor, her expression grim. Brett Jacobs greeted her respectfully, "Madam..."

"Where’s Sixth Master?"

"Sixth Master is outside on a phone call." 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝒆𝒘𝙚𝓫𝙣𝙤𝒗𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢

"Where?"

"On the balcony!"

Sienna Johnson brushed past Brett Jacobs, her face a dark cloud as she headed for the balcony. Cold sweat beaded on Brett Jacobs’ forehead as he silently cursed Aiden Howard.

Aiden Howard’s face was equally thunderous, the red imprints of her slaps starkly visible. Sienna Johnson must have been thoroughly provoked to strike him so forcefully. He must have said something utterly outrageous.

Aiden Howard rubbed his chin as he approached Brett Jacobs. "Come with me."

Aiden Howard ignored him and strode towards the restroom. Brett Jacobs, frustrated but unable to confront him publicly, had no choice but to follow.

They entered one after the other. Night Owl stared at his reflection in the mirror. The slap marks on his face were glaringly obvious.

Sienna Johnson? He, Night Owl, would not forget her!

Brett Jacobs looked at his face, his mind racing with the secrets he knew. He couldn’t help but say worriedly, "Tell me, what on earth did you say to Madam to make her so furious that she actually struck you?"

Night Owl, a bellyful of fire still churning within him, retorted irritably, "How should I know? That woman’s completely unhinged!"

"Aiden Howard, what in the world is wrong with you?"

"Get out! I need to be alone!"

Brett Jacobs’ expression was frigid. Seeing Aiden Howard was deaf to his counsel, he stated his position unequivocally: "I am Sixth Master’s man, and I pledge my life to him! If you threaten Sixth Master’s interests, I will eliminate you without hesitation!"

"..."

"You’d best watch your step!"

Brett Jacobs cast one last, disappointed look at the man reflected in the mirror. His gaze then turned glacial, his features hardening into a stern mask as he turned and departed.

As a brother, he had done all he could. If Aiden Howard was truly determined to court death, then he couldn’t stop him.
