The Bigshot Married Himself to the Heiress-Chapter 528 - 529: Where’s the Promised Trust?
For safety’s sake, Adrian Desmond placed the kitchen knife on the cutting board and stopped chatting with her while cutting vegetables. He was genuinely afraid of being startled by her shocking words and accidentally cutting off his own fingers.
"Sienna Johnson, we agreed to trust each other. Is this how you trust me?" His voice rose at the end, full of dissatisfaction with Sienna.
"Adrian, stop saying useless things to me. If you truly trust me, why won’t you let me meet Noah Phillips!" Sienna retorted without any hesitation.
"You know fully well how he feels about you, and yet you still want to see him? Isn’t it always said on TV that it’s better to end things quickly than to prolong the pain? Since you can’t give him what he wants, don’t give him any hope. I’m only doing this for your own good."
"You..."
"I know you should thank me, but you’re my woman, so you don’t have to be so polite with me. You don’t need to thank me."
"Thank you for nothing!" Sienna said angrily.
"Why are you mad again? Calm down. It’s not good for the baby if the mother-to-be is always angry." He held her face and gave her a quick kiss on the lips.
Sienna pushed him away, stopped making small talk with him, and pulled the conversation back to the topic at hand. She asked, "Stop deflecting. Why did you go to the hospital today, and to the gynecology department of all places? Who’s that woman with you?"
"Anyway, I didn’t do anything to betray you!"
"Adrian, are you not going to tell me?"
"I promised her I wouldn’t say!" Adrian’s face showed how troubled he was.
Her?
"Fine! Adrian!"
Seeing that he was determined to hide the truth, Sienna, who was initially filled with confidence in him, couldn’t help but grow suspicious. If he wasn’t guilty, why was he hiding something?
She wouldn’t think that he had just heroically helped a random pregnant woman he met on the street and accompanied her to a prenatal check-up...
"Where are you going?"
"Noah Phillips came to Sileria City and invited me out to dinner. I was originally considering your feelings, but since even the Sixth Master can accompany a woman to a prenatal check-up, it’s no big deal if I go out for a meal with my brother... Sixth Master, don’t you think so?"
Adrian grabbed her arm, not letting her go. He questioned her, "How did you know he came to Sileria City? Are you still in contact with him?"
"Do you want to know?" She smiled wickedly at him.
"Speak!"
"I won’t tell you!"
Sienna stopped smiling and stared at him coldly. Adrian’s head throbbed. "I knew it! If I annoy you, then I’m in for it too!"
"Sixth Master, you’re hurting me. Can you let go?"
"Don’t go!"
"You can stop me for a while, but not for a lifetime. I don’t believe you can tie me to your side every day and not do anything else.
"Drew, my brother, will be staying in Sileria City for quite some time...
"It doesn’t matter if I go today, tomorrow, the day after tomorrow, or even the day after that..."
"Fine, I’ll tell you!"
Adrian couldn’t hide it anymore. He’d rather break his promise than let this woman meet her childhood sweetheart.
Noah Phillips was a thorn in his heart. As long as he existed, Adrian would constantly feel threatened.
"Who is that woman?" 𝙛𝒓𝒆𝙚𝒘𝒆𝓫𝙣𝓸𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝒄𝒐𝓶
"You have to promise me that you won’t see Noah Phillips!"
"Fine, I promise not to see him while he’s in Sileria City!"
"That woman is Samara, and I accompanied her to the gynecology department!"
After Adrian finished speaking, Sienna was completely stunned. She stared at Adrian in disbelief, feeling like she was going crazy. It took her a while to find her voice again. "Samara... she’s pregnant?"
Adrian remained silent.
"Whose child is it?"
Sienna completely misunderstood the situation, but anyone who heard that their husband took their sister to the gynecology department would think the same thing. After all, who would go there if not for a pregnancy?
"Adrian, you damn well speak up! Whose child is Samara carrying? She’s not even fifteen years old! Which beast did this?"
"No, no, you’ve misunderstood..."
Adrian couldn’t have imagined Sienna’s imagination running so wild as to conclude Samara was pregnant.
"What exactly happened?"
Adrian was truly getting unnerved by this woman. If I don’t explain clearly, he thought, she’s going to accuse me of fathering a non-existent child with Samara!
"...After Samara ran out of the hospital today..."
Adrian told her everything that had happened with Samara. After listening, Sienna’s worries didn’t lessen at all.
"So, did anything happen to Samara? What did the doctor say?"
It’s no wonder I had such wild thoughts, Sienna mused. Samara encountered thugs, and Adrian took her to the gynecology department. She must have been injured...
"No, no, it’s not what you think.
"I took her to the hospital for a check-up. The doctor said she only had some superficial injuries and wasn’t... taken advantage of by any man."
Only then did Sienna let out a long sigh of relief. "As long as she’s fine, that’s good... If something had happened to her, I’d never have peace of mind for the rest of my life."
"Samara and I discussed it, and we’re going to assign her two bodyguards. That way, this kind of thing won’t happen again," he comforted her.
"Mhm, assign her two bodyguards. She’s so naive. Like a little fool, she’d probably help count the money if someone sold her."
Thinking about her sister’s innocent nature gave her a headache.
"Didn’t you say Brett Jacobs was supposed to protect Samara? Why was she still bullied by those thugs?"
Sienna had witnessed Brett Jacobs’ martial arts skills. His abilities were certainly not so poor that he couldn’t handle a few thugs.
Adrian coughed awkwardly and said, "Brett Jacobs wasn’t there. Aaron Faber was with her."
"What’s the difference if Aaron Faber was with her?"
In my eyes, Sienna thought, everyone around Adrian has high fighting prowess. They wouldn’t be bothered by a few mere thugs.
"Aaron is very intelligent, but he doesn’t know any martial arts." Adrian touched his nose, feeling embarrassed to have such a subordinate.
He couldn’t even handle a few thugs, Adrian thought, feeling embarrassed on Aaron’s behalf.
"Then why did you let him protect Samara?"
Adrian felt a surge of frustration; he had so much he couldn’t say. What could he say? If Sienna found out Aaron Faber had a crush on Samara, she would likely get angry with him.
"I don’t know!" he could only say.
"Where’s Samara now?"
"She was afraid you’d scold her, so she lied, saying she was going to a classmate’s house. I had her stay at the Dragon Court Residence Complex. There’s a servant there, so she’ll be well taken care of."
Sienna sneered. "She’s afraid I’ll scold her? I thought she wasn’t scared of anything."
Adrian tried to placate her. "When she comes home, please don’t scold her. She’s always been timid, and you might scare her. Besides, today’s incident wasn’t entirely her fault."
"If it’s not her fault, then whose is it? She’s a grown girl, yet she has no sense of safety at all! Going to such a secluded place—wasn’t she just inviting trouble?
"Sooner or later, she’ll get herself kidnapped, and then there won’t even be a place for her to cry."
