The Bigshot Married Himself to the Heiress-Chapter 527 - 528: You Attacked Someone You Know
"No need!" Just another starstruck girl, he figured, so he didn’t pay much attention.
"Yes, Sixth Master!" Brett Jacobs obeyed Adrian Desmond’s command without question. Since Adrian said there was no need to retrieve her, Brett wouldn’t pursue it.
The examination took over half an hour.
Samara looked unwell, an unnatural flush on her face. Seeing Adrian, she lowered her head even further.
Adrian glanced at Brett. Understanding the cue, Brett went to find the doctor for the test results, while Adrian led Samara away.
"Let’s go."
"’Mm,’ Samara murmured, her voice as quiet as a mosquito’s.
Adrian took Samara to the Dragon Court Residence Complex, which had originally been his and Sienna Johnson’s home. Although they had moved back to the Johnson family estate, servants were still employed there.
So, when Samara suggested staying at the Dragon Court Residence Complex, Adrian didn’t refuse.
He personally escorted Samara upstairs and instructed the servants to take good care of her before heading home.
「Johnson family, kitchen.」
Sienna Johnson watched the black clay pot gently steaming on the stove. It contained angelica root soup for Pauline Briggs.
Adrian had initially said he would cook, but he received an urgent call midway and had to leave in a hurry.
"Are you sure that was my husband?"
"Sienna, your husband is so devastatingly handsome; if you could find a second one like him in all of Sileria City, I’d marry him on the spot!"
The caller was Amelia Wallace, Sienna’s junior from university, who worked as a nurse.
It was Amelia who had secretly photographed Adrian at the hospital earlier that day.
Sileria City wasn’t particularly large, nor was it tiny. For Adrian to bump into Sienna’s junior at the hospital, and for her to catch him taking a young woman to the obstetrics and gynecology department—it was a massive misunderstanding.
"Alright, I get it."
"Sienna, what’s with that indifferent tone?"
"I trust him!"
Amelia said in exasperation, "Sienna, can’t you be a little less naive? You’re pregnant now, you know? This is when men are most likely to cheat... I’m only telling you this because we’re close. Don’t be so foolish as to believe everything a man says."
"Adrian isn’t that kind of person."
"Your man is sinfully handsome; even I want to sleep with him, let alone others... There must be countless women trying to seduce your husband. He might resist once or twice, but if it happens more often, it’s hard to say..."
"You want to sleep with my husband too? From now on, I’ll have to put you on my blacklist and make absolutely sure you don’t snatch my husband away," she joked.
"You...! I was just saying it casually. Am I really that classless?"
"My husband is back. We’ll chat later," Sienna said to her friend, seeing Adrian walk in from outside.
"Hey, I haven’t finished speaking! Don’t hang up..."
Adrian walked in, saw Sienna on the phone, and asked, "Who are you talking to?"
"A friend."
"Oh."
Adrian washed his hands and then took over Sienna’s task. His cooking skills were steadily improving. Sienna loved his dishes; their only flaw was a slightly bland taste.
"Where did you go today?" she asked, seemingly casually.
"Nowhere important."
This meant he didn’t want to discuss it further. If it had been the understanding Sienna of the past, she wouldn’t have pressed him, she thought. But today, Amelia’s words still left a seed of doubt in her mind.
She touched her stomach. Although it was not yet obvious, if she pressed gently, she could feel the small life inside.
Amidst the joy of nurturing a new life, Adrian had his own frustrations. He was a man of strong desires, and he had been holding back. Sienna was genuinely afraid he wouldn’t be able to restrain himself much longer.
Adrian was cutting tomatoes when he suddenly stuffed a piece into Sienna’s mouth. "Mmph!" she gasped, startled from her thoughts.
"I told you I don’t like raw tomatoes," Sienna protested, though she still ate the piece Adrian had fed her.
"Tomatoes are great," Adrian said. "They’re good for your skin and anti-aging!"
Sienna mused on this. Pregnant women often didn’t look their best during pregnancy; some even developed blemishes on their faces. She was a woman, too. She touched her face, repeating Adrian’s words aloud, "Good for the skin, anti-aging!"
"Exactly!" Adrian affirmed.
"Are you saying you find me lacking?" Sienna asked.
"What?"
"Are you saying I’m not beautiful anymore, that I’m getting old?"
Adrian turned to look at Sienna. She wasn’t joking; her expression was serious.
"What on earth are you imagining? I just gave you a piece of tomato and made a casual remark, and now you’re saying all this nonsense."
"Who knows what you’re really thinking?" she said sarcastically.
Adrian put down the knife, turned, and stared at Sienna.
"Sienna, you definitely have something on your mind, and it’s about me. We agreed to be open about everything and not hide things from each other. If you’re unhappy about something, just tell me directly. I don’t like it when your words have hidden meanings."
"Did you go to the obstetrics and gynecology department at People’s Hospital today?"
Adrian paused. How did she find out? he wondered. If he didn’t know her personality so well, he’d almost suspect Sienna had hired a private detective to follow him.
"How did you know?"
"Don’t forget I studied medicine. Most of the doctors and nurses in Sileria City’s hospitals are graduates of Sileria Medical University."
Adrian chuckled. "So, that little nurse who secretly took my photo today, who is she to you?"
"My junior."
"No wonder." Now he understood how Sienna was so well-informed.
Now that it was out in the open, Sienna told Adrian what Amelia had said. "...Adrian," she concluded, "I need your explanation!"
"And what do you think?" He suddenly wanted to tease her; he had a perverse enjoyment of seeing her jealous on his account.
"I haven’t thought much about it! If you really got another woman pregnant, I’ll have no choice but to divorce you!" Sienna stated seriously.
"It’s not what you think!"
"Then what is it?"
"Can I not say?"
"No!"
Adrian looked at Sienna, a headache coming on. "I promised her I wouldn’t tell. I don’t want to be someone who breaks their word."
"Her? Which ’her’?"
"Someone you know!"
"You made a move on an acquaintance?"
Adrian flinched, the knife in his hand nearly slicing his fingers. "Can you not sound so terrifying when you say things like that?"
"Leanne Andrews once said that men who cheat often start with people they know... Since it’s someone I know, then which ’her’ is it?" Sienna stared at Adrian, scrutinizing every flicker of expression on his face, like a seasoned interrogator with a suspect.
