Chapter 627: Chapter 668: Deployment

This was Night Owl’s revenge on him! Revenge for Adrian having ruined his heart back then, causing it to die.

Adrian Desmond now regretted believing too much in his own marksmanship. He had been certain that his shot would undoubtedly kill Night Owl, but he had forgotten about the powerful Doctor X on Death Island.

Walter Klein continued, "Night Owl found out that Madam was building a bird’s nest processing plant, so he approached her under the alias of Javier Jervois. Fortunately, Madam was vigilant and detected something was wrong in time; otherwise, we would have been in serious trouble."

Sienna Johnson had been kidnapped by Night Owl; this was no joke.

Adrian Desmond smoked silently. He usually didn’t smoke, but when he did, he smoked fiercely, finishing a cigarette in just two or three puffs.

Today was the first time Brett Jacobs had fought Night Owl, and he didn’t think much of him. He scoffed, "Sixth Master, you always say that Night Owl is formidable, but I don’t think he’s all that. We almost caught him today."

Adrian Desmond turned to look at Brett Jacobs, exhaling smoke from his nostrils, and warned sternly, "Don’t underestimate that man, or you won’t even know how you died!"

Brett Jacobs was startled. Adrian Desmond was usually arrogant and didn’t take anyone seriously. However, when Adrian warned him so gravely about Night Owl, appearing as if facing a formidable enemy himself, Brett Jacobs finally began to take the man named Night Owl seriously. He realized Night Owl was no ordinary individual and not someone he could easily handle.

"Sixth Master, I understand. I’ll be careful."

Adrian Desmond finished his last cigarette and put it in the ashtray on the windowsill, which was already overflowing with butts. "The reason Night Owl was caught off guard today was likely because he didn’t expect us to discover him so quickly. He underestimated Sienna’s vigilance, and she detected something was amiss. She promptly informed us, allowing us to rush over and rescue her."

"Don’t underestimate that man. Even if all of you joined forces, you still wouldn’t be a match for him!" 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝙚𝔀𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝒐𝒎

Aaron Faber thought of Samara. If it had been Samara today, Night Owl probably would have succeeded.

Aaron Faber looked at his hands. Due to his martial arts training, they were covered in calluses, no longer the soft, delicate skin of the past. He had realized that only by becoming strong could he protect the woman he loved. So, he had gone to the base and undergone hellish training, not even flinching when he broke several ribs.

In the world he inhabited, intelligence alone wasn’t enough; Strong Combat Power was also essential.

Seeing Adrian Desmond’s serious expression, Walter Klein asked, "Sixth Master, should we take Madam back to the island? Right now, the island is the safest place."

"We’ll go back after we’ve purchased the bird’s nest processing factory."

Everyone exchanged glances. Sixth Master, you’re making it sound so serious, as if even you can’t handle him. Shouldn’t we be keeping a low profile, temporarily retreating to the island, and devising a long-term strategy?

Walter Klein said hesitantly, "Sixth Master, at a time like this, shouldn’t we put the bird’s nest processing plant project on hold? Who knows if Night Owl will reappear disguised as another ’Javier Jervois’ to get close to Madam and try to kidnap her again."

Adrian Desmond swept a glance at his frightened subordinates. His tone was laced with disappointment at their lack of mettle as he said, "So, Night Owl shows up, and we’re supposed to dig a hole and hide, doing nothing?"

"I’m telling you all this so you don’t underestimate our opponent and give him an opening, not to scare you witless like this!" Adrian Desmond’s sharp gaze swept over the men present as he chastised them.

Brett Jacobs declared, "Sixth Master, we’re not afraid of him!"

Walter Klein, still worried, continued, "Night Owl killed Aiden Howard and simultaneously wiped out the twenty assassins protecting Madam. That man is too dangerous. I’m just worried he’ll target Madam again.

"After all, Madam is a woman, and Night Owl must know how important she is to you, Sixth Master. I’m concerned that since Night Owl didn’t succeed this time, he’ll try to harm Madam again.

"If Madam is captured, we’ll be completely on the defensive."

Adrian Desmond, of course, wouldn’t let such a thing happen again. He had finally managed to enter Sienna Johnson’s heart and didn’t want to hurt her or be driven out of it.

"It seems the people trained at the base are merely so-so!" Adrian Desmond said, dissatisfied.

Brett Jacobs lowered his head. He was from the base; Madam’s twenty bodyguards were also prominent figures from there, yet they had been so easily eliminated. Brett Jacobs felt as if he’d been slapped across the face; it was a disgrace.

Aaron Faber had spent time at the base and knew how brutal the training could be. "Sixth Master, it must be that the bodyguards protecting Madam were caught off guard by Night Owl. The people trained at the base are truly formidable."

Adrian Desmond looked at Aaron Faber, his eyes filled with contempt, as if looking at a naive child. Aaron retorted, "Sixth Master, am I wrong?"

"Do you know how Night Owl trains his assassins?"

Adrian Desmond walked over until he stood directly in front of Aaron Faber. When Adrian Desmond unleashed his full aura, most people couldn’t withstand it, and Aaron Faber was no exception. Cold sweat beaded on his forehead. Adrian Desmond said, "Night Owl’s men begin their training from the age of three.

"They take fifteen children, aged three to five, and lock them together in a cage. This cage is then lowered into the sea, with only enough of it exposed above the water for a child to stand.

"They are constantly soaked in seawater, given nothing to eat or drink, until only one child remains alive in that cage. Only then is the cage pulled up.

"The child who survives this initial culling from among the fifteen is then pitted against other such survivors. They are forced to fight each other in successive rounds of brutal combat until, finally, only the single most formidable individual remains..."

Adrian Desmond gently patted Aaron Faber’s shoulder and asked a seemingly unrelated question, "Do you love Samara very much?"

"Huh?"

"For the final test, you must kill the person you love most—be it family, a friend, your lover, wife, or even your child. Only by doing so can you truly graduate."

Aaron Faber’s back was soaked with sweat upon hearing this. "How can such a depraved monster exist?"

"Because he *is* a depraved monster!"

Adrian Desmond then ordered Brett Jacobs, "Tell the base to intensify their training. Later, I’ll write down all the information I have on Death Island. You are to hand it to Jule and have him adjust the training methods accordingly."

"Walter Klein, go and contact Motel in Mandanila. I want to see him."

"Aaron, I need you to investigate an old man named Doctor X."

Aaron Faber felt his task was the most daunting. "Sixth Master, besides the name Doctor X, are there any other clues?" This is like finding a needle in a haystack.

"Yes! He’s male. An old man. He should be even older by now!"

Aaron Faber thought, Sixth Master, you’re quite the comedian!
