Chapter 626: Chapter 667: I Want to Go Home

"You’re leaving?" Adrian Desmond frowned.

"I want to go home, and I’ve been away with my family for so long. There are so many things to deal with at the company..."

She made a few excuses, though they were also true. She couldn’t stay away from such a large company for too long.

"Is it because I shot you?"

"No..."

Holding Sienna in his arms, Adrian Desmond rubbed his face gently against her hair. He said softly, "Sienna, do you think you’ll be safe if you go back to Sileria City?"

"At least safer than here!"

"Night Owl knows of your existence; he won’t let you go. I’ve known him for many years. The way he looked at you was like a hunter eyeing prey he’s determined to capture. You are now his prey, and he won’t let you go," he sighed.

Sienna Johnson said, "Didn’t you prove to him today that I’m not important? I’m just an insignificant woman by your side. As long as I go back to Sileria City, he won’t bother me anymore."

It wasn’t that Sienna Johnson didn’t want to face difficulties with Adrian Desmond; she simply couldn’t handle the turmoil anymore. Any one of Adrian Desmond’s enemies was far beyond her ability to deal with. In that case, she’d rather take her child back to Sileria City and cause Adrian Desmond less trouble.

"Do you think Night Owl believes you’re an insignificant woman to me?"

"If he doesn’t believe it, why would he let me go?"

"He let you go because he simply couldn’t take you away at that time..."

"..."

Adrian Desmond looked into Sienna Johnson’s eyes, his gaze full of admiration and pride. "He underestimated your intelligence, thinking you were nothing more than a beautiful, useless woman. That’s what gave you an opportunity. You told me your location in time, which allowed me to get there quickly. Night Owl probably didn’t expect me to find you so soon, so I was able to catch him off guard."

"..."

"Night Owl is cunning. He’ll soon figure out the ins and outs of what happened..." He gently stroked her face and kissed her pale lips, tracing their shape with his tongue.

"Stay in Abyanabad. I can only feel at ease if you’re by my side."

Sienna Johnson was unwilling. "Stay by your side, just to get shot by you again?"

"You vengeful woman!" He kissed her forcefully. At first, Sienna Johnson resisted, but soon her body betrayed her. Before she knew it, she was clinging to his neck, actively offering her own kiss.

"Are you still angry?"

Sienna Johnson bit him and threatened, "If anything happens to our son, I will never forgive you!"

"Who knew you’d be so timid and distrustful? Don’t you know how I feel about you? I’d rather die myself than let you die."

Sienna Johnson punched him, though with her strength, it felt like a mere tickle to Adrian Desmond. "I’m just an ordinary person. When you people pull out knives and guns all the time, I get scared, okay?"

"Then don’t run off like that next time! Otherwise, if something happens to you again, you won’t be as lucky as you were this time," Adrian Desmond said, his expression serious.

"Have you ever thought about what would have happened if the bullet had gone astray? Rubber bullets can be lethal too, can’t they?" Sienna Johnson grumbled, her heart still pounding with residual fear. That shot had truly terrified her. However, compared to being abducted by Night Owl, she would rather be shot by Adrian Desmond.

"If it had gone astray and you died, I would have accompanied you in death. You lose a life, I pay you back with mine," he said gravely, yet his tone carried an air of nonchalance.

"..."

"Even if I die, you can’t. If you die too, what about our child?" she said rationally, leaning her head against his chest.

Adrian Desmond didn’t reply.

The topic was too melancholic, and Sienna Johnson didn’t want to discuss it further. She gently placed her hand on her lower abdomen. Usually, if she caressed her belly like this, the baby would move, as if playing with her, but today, he was completely still.

"Is the baby really okay? Why isn’t he moving at all?"

"He was moving constantly while you were unconscious. He’s probably just tired now."

Sienna Johnson glanced at Adrian Desmond and asked, "Really?"

"Really!"

Just as he finished speaking, Sienna Johnson felt the baby move in her palm. The movement was slight, however, and seemed to lack energy, more like a plea for comfort.

"He moved?"

"Yes." The father-to-be’s reaction was somewhat subdued.

Sienna Johnson gently stroked her belly. The baby inside felt like a little fish swimming about. The anxiety that had gripped her heart finally eased.

Thankfully, her baby was fine.

"Sixth Master..." Walter Klein entered, greeted Sienna Johnson, who was now awake, and then fixed his gaze on Adrian Desmond.

"I have matters to attend to. You should sleep first. I’ll call you when it’s time to eat," Adrian Desmond said, deliberately avoiding Sienna Johnson.

"Okay."

Adrian Desmond helped her lie down, tucked the covers around her, then rose and walked out.

Sienna Johnson watched Adrian Desmond’s tall figure retreat. The comforting, secure aura that had enveloped her when he held her disappeared, and unease began to gnaw at her heart again.

This was Desmond Manor, her and Adrian Desmond’s room, yet even these familiar surroundings couldn’t soothe her terrified heart.

The issue with Elliot Carpenter isn’t even resolved, and now Night Owl has appeared... With my abilities, I can’t handle them.

For the sake of my child and family, I should rationally leave Adrian Desmond and return to Sileria City.

"I shouldn’t have come to Abyanabad..." Sienna Johnson regretted her decision to come here.

It’s as if this place and I are fated for misfortune. Every time I come to Abyanabad, something bad is bound to happen.

Sienna Johnson lay on her side, her hand resting on her stomach. Her mind was a complete mess; she had no idea how to cope with these overwhelming problems one after another.

...

In the study, Adrian Desmond stood by the window, gazing at the pond of lotuses in the lake, Sienna Johnson’s favorite. A breeze drifted by, carrying the fresh fragrance of lotus blossoms.

Adrian Desmond instructed Adolph Desmond, "Go pick some lotus flowers and place them in Madam’s room."

"Yes, Sixth Master."

Nothing concerning Sienna Johnson was considered trivial. Thus, even a small task like picking lotus flowers, Adolph Desmond attended to it personally.

Standing in the study were Walter Klein, Brett Jacobs, and Aaron Faber.

All of them wore grave expressions, looking as if they were facing a formidable enemy. Among those present, aside from Adrian Desmond, Aaron Faber was the most worried. Night Owl had made a move on Sienna Johnson; would he also target her sister, Samara? Samara is so naive and clumsy, lacking Sienna Johnson’s intelligence and resourcefulness. If Night Owl really kidnapped her, it would be a disaster.

Walter Klein proactively reported his findings to Adrian Desmond, "...Sixth Master, all twenty bodyguards protecting Madam are dead. All of them had their hearts dug out..."
