The Bigshot Married Himself to the Heiress-Chapter 698 - 739: Sabotaging Oneself
"I loved once, so I’m telling you from experience, it’s over between you and Paige!"
To Kiya, it sounded like Sienna Johnson was rubbing salt into his wounds. Kiya looked at Sienna with a grim smile. "Are you so eager to see me and Paige break up?"
"Whether you break up or not is up to you. Back then, in the car, I even thought about trying to reconcile you two. What a pity, you disappointed me too much. Maybe you think there’s nothing wrong with it. Marrying the Princess of Pelindi is, to you, nothing more than supporting another woman; that’s your selfishness. And ask yourself, do you really love Paige? If you had really loved her, you wouldn’t have wanted other women!" Sienna watched Kiya, her eyes full of deep disappointment.
In every woman’s heart, there’s a fairytale about a prince and princess’s romance. In fairytales, the prince and princess live happily ever after... and then the story simply ends. It turns out the authors of fairytales also knew that it’s easy to fall in love but hard to stay together. That’s why they never write about the prince and princess’s married life—because it would indeed be a tragedy.
"Marrying Gulit was just a stopgap measure. I haven’t touched her, I won’t touch her now, and I won’t touch her in the future. Paige is the only one in my heart. If Paige knew this, she would understand me," Kiya tried to explain.
Sienna laughed scornfully. "Your Highness, you really do treat marriage like child’s play, don’t you?"
"..."
"Is this how Your Highness treats marriage? You don’t take it seriously at all? You’ve married a princess, but you don’t so much as touch her. Isn’t this condemning her to live like a widow? Be careful. She might grow to hate you out of love, and if her mind becomes twisted, she might take action against you..."
Growing tired of their banter, Adrian Desmond bluntly said, "Kiya, get your men out of my house. I haven’t broken any laws, but your soldiers are surrounding my house. What does this mean?"
"Adrian, I just want to see Paige."
"Paige isn’t here. Go look for her elsewhere."
"You must know where she is. Please tell me."
"She doesn’t want to see you!"
"..."
"Order your men to leave at once, or I’ll report you to the judge!"
"I don’t mean anything else; I just want to see Paige and Dylan. It’s been 71 days since I last saw them," Kiya said pitifully.
Although Sienna continued to mock him, and Adrian was cold and uncompromising, talking to Kiya felt like encountering a stone wall.
"Alright, if you don’t tell me, I will wait here. This is her parents’ home. I don’t believe she’ll never come back." Kiya stated his position firmly, his attitude bordering on shameless persistence.
Sienna exchanged glances with Adrian. Sienna said, "It seems he plans to latch onto us."
"Such a shameless man!"
"Yes, indeed, very shameless."
"He’s a Prince, after all; if he wants to stay, let him. We’re not providing meals, anyway. Besides, he’s no longer a son-in-law of the Desmond Family."
They took turns taunting Kiya, calling him shameless. Anyone else would have flushed with embarrassment and left in anger, but Kiya remained seated, as if their words weren’t about him at all.
Sienna eventually lost her patience. This man seemed determined to wear them down. She couldn’t let him linger at the Desmond residence. If he didn’t leave, the Sultan and Queen would likely come too, which would complicate matters.
"I can let you call Paige. If you have the ability, get her to come see you in person. But regardless of the outcome, you and your soldiers must leave here. We’re businesspeople; with your soldiers surrounding our house, what will others think?"
Kiya obviously wasn’t satisfied. He wanted to see Paige and explain things in person, believing he could better persuade her that way.
"I want to see Paige! Just let me see her once, and regardless of the outcome, I won’t bother you again."
"Impossible!" Sienna refused without hesitation.
"Alright then, let me just talk to Paige on the phone. No matter what the final result is, I won’t disturb you again."
Sienna didn’t have a cell phone on her, as Adrian didn’t allow her to carry one due to some hearsay about radiation affecting a pregnant woman or the baby.
Sienna took Adrian’s phone, dialed Paige’s number, and Paige quickly answered.
"Brother, how did Sister-in-law’s prenatal check-up go today? Is the baby healthy?"
Sienna looked at Kiya and said to Paige, "Paige, it’s me. Kiya found your brother and me; he’s at our place now. He wants to talk to you. Do you want to speak with him? If not, I’ll hang up."
Paige didn’t reply immediately. Kiya snatched the phone and said excitedly, "Paige, is that you? Where are you and Dylan? I’ll come and take you home."
"Kiya, I heard you’ve gotten engaged to the Princess of Pelindi; I haven’t had the chance to congratulate you yet. I wish you happiness and a lifetime of love with her..."
Kiya didn’t want to hear these words; he interrupted her, "Why say things that will make me sad? You clearly know that you are the one I love."
"But I don’t love you anymore."
"Paige?"
"Kiya, for the sake of our past as a couple, please just divorce me." Paige sighed, suppressing the bitterness in her heart, and finally spoke the difficult words.
"Don’t be upset. I won’t believe you were unfaithful. Dylan is my son, don’t worry. Just give me some time; I’ll definitely find out who framed you..."
"Kiya, no one framed me."
"What did you say?"
"Nobody framed me. Those videos... I had a friend record them with me..."
"What do you mean by that?"
"If I must say someone framed me, it would have to be myself."
Kiya was completely shocked. Many potential suspects had crossed his mind, but he never imagined the culprit could be Paige. Who would frame themselves?
"Paige, are you joking?"
"Kiya, I’m not joking. Every word I said is true."
"Why did you do this?"
"Kiya, after leaving the Imperial Palace, Dylan and I have been very happy, and we don’t want to go back."
"So, you two want to abandon me and leave me alone in the cold Imperial Palace?"
"Kiya, I’m sorry!" After Paige said these words, she hung up the phone. Kiya remained sitting there, looking crestfallen, with the phone in his hand.
Sienna didn’t know what they had said to each other that left Kiya looking so devastated.
"Kiya, could you return the phone to me?"
Kiya remained seated, as if he hadn’t heard her at all. Finally, Adrian rose from his chair, walked over to Kiya, and took his phone back.
"Let’s go," Adrian said to Sienna.
Sienna glanced at Kiya, said nothing, and followed Adrian out.
