Chapter 993: Chapter 392: Song Qiao and Her Son’s Interaction I

The little one still stood there without immediately moving over, his face showing a few expressions of uncertainty, just standing there steadfastly watching Song Qiao silently.

Song Qiao continued to squat there, her eyes already brimming with tears, but they did not fall.

It’s been more than four years since she last saw her son. Back when she gave Ning Wan to Lu Jingchen, he was still so small, only able to babble, unable to speak properly.

Now seeing him again, he can call her "mom."

Saying she isn’t excited deep down is false—her heart swelled with a surge of excitement, wanting to scoop up the little boy from not far away into her arms.

But seeing the little guy standing there, watching with apparent fear and worry, hesitant to come over.

Song Qiao fears she may startle him, so she remains squatting there, speaking to him as gently as possible, hoping he will accept her.

Mother and son face each other, one by the staircase, the other in the corridor, for a long time, neither moving.

After preparing the meal, Lu Jingchen waited but did not see Song Qiao and their son come down, furrowing his brow. As he stepped out of the kitchen intending to check upstairs, he saw Lu Wangshu’s little body poking out at the top of the staircase, only his little bottom visible.

Lu Jingchen paused, suddenly hearing Song Qiao’s gentle voice, and instantly understood why the little one remained unmoved, filling his heart with a trace of helplessness.

He thought Lu Wangshu would readily accept Song Qiao, but it turns out the little boy struggles to accept her.

After all, he’s only a little over four years old.

Lu Jingchen stood there for several minutes before heading upstairs.

The little guy was staring at Song Qiao, unaware of Lu Jingchen approaching, until he suddenly felt himself lifted into the air, turned around to see his father behind him with an expression of surprise and joy, exclaiming, "Dad."

Lu Jingchen responded with a sound, letting the little one wrap his arms around his neck. As he stood and saw Song Qiao squatting there, his expression remained unchanged, but his tone softened slightly with a delicate tenderness, "Let’s go have dinner first."

Song Qiao initially intended not to go down for dinner; she wanted only to retrieve her luggage and then leave.

But upon seeing her son, she hesitated, thought for a moment, and nodded, quickly standing as Lu Jingchen carried the boy downstairs.

However, having given birth to twins five years ago, her health isn’t all that great, and she even experiences low blood sugar.

Thus, standing up abruptly, she only felt a darkness overcoming her, nearly fainting, promptly supporting herself against the wall, knitting her brows slightly, closing her eyes and shaking her head, overcome by a sensation of dizziness.

Lu Jingchen hadn’t yet stepped down the stairs, sensing something amiss behind him, he quickly set Lu Wangshu down to go down on his own, then turned around. As he reached the bend, he saw Song Qiao leaning against the wall, seemingly uncomfortable.

Lu Jingchen hesitated for a moment, then quickly walked over to support her, softly asking, "What’s wrong?"

Song Qiao looked up at the man in front of her but replied, "I’m fine, it’ll pass."

She never had low blood sugar before, this issue only arose post-delivery. Initially it frightened her, thinking she had contracted some illness, until a hospital visit confirmed it’s merely low blood sugar, requiring regular dietary adjustments to recover.

Just as Song Qiao finished speaking, Lu Jingchen suddenly lifted her in his arms.

Startled, Song Qiao nearly screamed, instinctively clutching Lu Jingchen’s shirt, her voice slightly frightened, "Lu Jingchen, what are you doing? Put me down..."

But the man seemed not to hear her, carrying her downstairs.

Lu Wangshu didn’t immediately descend the stairs, instead standing there wide-eyed watching his father carrying his mother out, though he couldn’t bring himself to call her "mom."

Cradled in Lu Jingchen’s arms, Song Qiao’s gaze instinctively fell on Lu Wangshu. She knew the child wouldn’t accept her right away, but she wasn’t in a rush—she believed someday her son would undoubtedly accept her.

Lu Jingchen carried Song Qiao downstairs, then into the dining room, setting her down at the table.

The little one followed closely behind Lu Jingchen and Song Qiao, and when he saw his father settle his mother, he quickly ran to the opposite seat and sat down obediently, his cute demeanor truly endearing.

Song Qiao looked up and saw the little one, her emotions difficult to control, dearly wishing to hold him close, yet she restrained herself.

Lu Jingchen entered the kitchen, carrying out three bowls of rice. Upon seeing the mother and son seated opposite each other, Lu Jingchen glanced reflexively at the vacant seat across him, slightly pursing his lips, saying nothing.

What? Can he say the child took his seat?

Because Lu Wangshu was too small to serve himself, Lu Jingchen decided to sit beside him to help him with the meal, otherwise he would surely sit next to Song Qiao.

Placing the rice bowls in front of them, noting they still faced each other unmoving, he couldn’t help but say, "Start eating."

Song Qiao remained still. The little one stole a glance at her before obediently picking up his little spoon to begin eating.

Lu Jingchen’s gaze fell on Song Qiao, seeing she was unmoving, his eyebrows slightly raised, asking, "Aren’t you going to eat?"

Hearing his voice, Song Qiao hesitated momentarily, then simply picked up her chopsticks, focusing on serving a dish for the little Wangshu opposite her.

Seeing the food suddenly added to his bowl, Wangshu thought it was his father who served him. Looking up, he saw Song Qiao’s gentle smile and realized it was his mom who added the food.

The little guy’s face flushed instantly, lips quivering, yet he said nothing, lowering his head to continue eating.

However, the expression on his little face clearly indicated that, today, he truly felt happy.
