The Broken Angel & Her Overprotective Brothers-Chapter 291: The Silver Moon Pack
Emily climbed out of the car and looked at the huge castle standing in front of her. She was aware that her jaw was hanging open and there were people around her but she barely cared.
She turned her attention to Kaiden who had been standing at some distance, watching her reaction with a look of satisfaction and contentment on his face. "You must be kidding me! Right?"
Kaiden just shook his head as he closed the distance between the two of them and moved to stand next to her. "You look way too surprised for me to handle." He confessed sincerely.
"Why should not I? I mean look at this damn castle? This is the last thing I was expecting to see. Since when did the werewolves start living in castles just like the vampires?" Emily didn’t hold back at all and just outright asked the question.
Kaiden chuckled at her words as he wrapped one of his arms around her waist and pulled her closer. "I have no idea, Angel. But this is probably the result of the competitiveness between our ancestors as they always wanted to be better than the vampires. All I know is that this is the place where I was born and brought up and this is the place where my people live in peace and harmony."
Emily once again looked at the huge castle and noticed that in the past few minutes, more pairs of eyes had joined the previous ones and now hundreds of people were gazing down at her from the high windows of the castle.
"How many people are there in your pack?" She suddenly found herself asking as nervousness started taking a control of her.
"Nearly four hundred. But you will only find a hundred or so here at the moment." Kaiden replied to her question with a small shrug like four hundred was just a mere number that didn’t even matter.
On the other hand, Emily was struck was a complete surprise at the mention of the number of people in his pack. No wonder the Silver Moon pack was rumored to be one of the most powerful shifter packs existing in the history of the supernaturals.
"Oh, God..." She just let out a deep sigh as she tried to pull herself together. She couldn’t let her nervousness win over her just like that.
She felt Kaiden’s arm tightening around her waist as he pulled her closer. "Don’t worry. All of them like you a lot. They have been following every single news about you since the day they found out that you are my mate. And from what I have heard, they all seemed to really love your personality and some of them even consider you their idol. Some of them follow you for your fashion, some for your business passion, some for your stories, and some for all of these."
Though Kaiden only meant to encourage her and help her out of her nervousness, the more he spoke the more nervous Emily was becoming. So many people having such high expectations from her. How could she not feel overwhelmed?
She once again looked up at the tall towers of the castle and felt the pressure of the hundred of eyes that were looking down at her and Kaiden. "Never thought this can be so overwhelming." She voiced out her thoughts as she tightened her hold on Kaiden’s arm. She wasn’t even sure when she had grabbed his arm amid her nervousness.
Kaiden pulled her hand in his own and entangled their fingers together as he spoke, "You can do this, love. Let’s not keep them waiting. They have been waiting for years to meet their Luna."
Luna? This was the first time he had used that term.
Emily stared at him in surprise, the word Luna and its meaning settling like heaviness on her shoulders. She nodded her head and followed Kaiden as they both headed inside the castle.
People stood in lines in the hallway as they passed through them, all bowing their heads in greetings to their Alpha and... their future Luna.
The anxiety only rose higher as Emily watched so many people looking at her with so much respect and admiration in their eyes. Whether it was the elders of the pack or the young kids, all seemed to welcome her with open arms.
They reached the entrance of a grand hall and Kaiden took her inside and the rest of the pack members followed. Emily just stayed silent and walked beside Kaiden as she tried to keep her expressions neutral to not give away just how anxious she was feeling.
They all gathered in the hall and Emily greeted the Elders of the pack as Kaiden introduced them. "It’s so nice to finally meet you, Ms. Alessandro. Hope you will find this place welcoming." One of the elders said.
"The pleasure is all mine. I have been looking forward to this day for a long time and I’m so happy that Kaiden finally took me here to meet you all." The lies filtered through her lips without any hesitation. After all, she couldn’t tell them that meeting one-fourth of the pack on her very first visit was never in her plans.
"I think it’s enough for today. Today is a special day for my mate and I want to spend the rest of the evening with her. Let’s end our meeting here with a promise of a grand feast on her next visit." Kaiden’s words were followed by loud cheers of excitement as everyone showed their agreement with the idea.
Emily watched as little by little, the pack members started dispersing and Kaiden pulled attention towards himself. "Never knew you can be this nervous." He almost sounded like he was teasing her.
"Have you forgotten your own experience with my brothers? Besides, you only had to face my brothers and you just made me stand in front of hundreds of people on my very first visit." Emily immediately responded with an accusing look.
"Sorry, Angel. They have been bugging me for ages to invite you here. They promised to only meet you for five minutes. It’s really hard to say no." Kaiden tried to defend himself with an innocent look on his face.
Emily looked at her shameless mate for a few seconds before she just gave up. She could hardly ever win over him in such arguments.
