The Broken Angel & Her Overprotective Brothers-Chapter 295: Her Birthday Present

Emily stared wide-eyed at the couple rings sitting inside the box that Kaiden was holding out to her.

"Kaiden..." She wasn’t sure what to say or how to respond. Her hurt was thumping loudly, ready to burst out of her chest at any moment.

A part of her was filled with excitement, overjoyed by the scene in front of her. The happiness also came from her soul which was elated for its other half.

However, there was also a part of her that was filled with worry and anxiety. She felt like she was not prepared even though she couldn’t think of a single reason to say no.

The conflicting thoughts in her brain started getting heavier with each passing second. Thankfully, Kaiden decided to help her out of the dilemma that was attacking her brain and heart.

"Are you that horrified by the thought of me proposing to you?" Kaiden’s voice sounded more playful and teasing instead of disappointed or angry.

"I... I..." Emily struggled for words but couldn’t think of anything to say. It only made her feel more anxious and even guilty.

"Hey, hey!" Kaiden was immediately there for her as he stood up and pulled her into his arms. "I was just teasing you, angel. I didn’t mean to make you this anxious. Besides, I’m not proposing for marriage."

Emily looked at him in surprise, not understanding what he was trying to say. "What do you mean?"

Kaiden let out a small sigh as he tucked a loose strand of hair behind her ear and spoke, "We have known each other for the past six years and we share a mate bond that strengthens our relationship when compared to normal couples. Still, we have only started dating recently and there’s still a lot we have to learn about each other and adapt to."

Emily listened in silence, her eyes reading his. "Then what about these rings?" She asked while pointing at the velvet box that he was still holding in his palm.

A smile broke out on Kaiden’s lips as he showed the rings to her while replying, "This is your birthday present - our couple rings. I want us to wear these until the day I officially propose to you."

Emily felt her heart flutter at his words and the beautiful smile on his lips. But she also felt more guilty for reacting the way she did. Why was she so anxious about him proposing? Was it only because she wasn’t ready for it?

"I’m sor..." She didn’t get to finish her apology as Kaiden sealed her lips with a kiss that lasted only for two seconds. 𝑓𝓇𝘦ℯ𝘸𝘦𝑏𝓃𝑜𝘷ℯ𝑙.𝑐𝑜𝓂

Pulling away from her, Kaiden once again kneeled on the floor as he offered her the beautiful platinum couple rings. "So, do you accept this ring and be my girlfriend until the day I’ll marry you and make you my wife?"

Emily almost felt like crying as she hurriedly nodded her head in agreement and placed her hand in his waiting palm, watching him as he slipped the ring on her finger.

"It’s my turn now." Kaiden was filled with excitement as he handed her the other ring and immediately placed his hand in front of her so that she could slip the ring on his finger.

The completion of the exchange of the rings was followed by another kiss but this one was neither soft nor short. Instead, it was deep, got, and passionate enough to leave Emily breathless.

She felt one of his hands cupping her nape as he angeled her face to his heart’s desire. While his other hand came to rest on her bare back, his palm felt like molten lava against her skin.

A moan slipped through Emily’s parted lips as she returned the kiss. Her own hands found their way to his hair and chest. While she used one of her hands to entangle her fingers into his silver locks, the other went to rest against his bare chest accessible through his revealing shirt.

Kaiden tightened his hold on her as he started trailing sweet kisses over her jaw and then down her throat. And as his mouth made its way to the crook of her neck, she felt a powerful shudder shaking her entire body.

"Kaiden..." His name was a whisper leaving her mouth as she found herself arching her neck to give him more space. Her body writhed under the powerful sensations that his mouth was creating and it was becoming hard for her to think straight.

All hell broke loose when Kaiden continued his kisses down her throat and cleavage. At one point, his mouth was so close to her breasts that she couldn’t help but tighten her hold on his hair which resulted in a groan from Kaiden.

Emily felt a rush of warm energy passing over her and in the next second her back was pressed against a cold wall as Kaiden once again claimed her mouth in another deep and passionate kiss that left her weak in her knees.

His hand slid up her arm, leaving a trail of goosebumps in its wake. Her body burned in anticipation and her legs felt like jelly. His hand moved to once again hold her nape as he kissed her as if he owned her.

Fire burned through Emily’s body, tempting her to step forward and grant the wish of her body’s need and soul’s wish.

She was almost ready to give in when Kaiden suddenly pulled away from the kiss and cursed under his breath as he placed his forehead against her shoulder.

Not knowing what suddenly happened, she stood there in silence and waited for him to calm down enough to explain.

It took a couple of long moments before he finally pulled away to look into her eyes as he spoke, "I’m so sorry, angel. You have no idea how badly I want this, how much I need you and desire you, but... but I can’t."

"Why?" Emily asked as she wanted to know the reason that had been standing between her and Kaiden as a wall all this time.

"I have something really important to tell you."
