The Broken Angel & Her Overprotective Brothers-Chapter 294: The Birthday Cake & The Dance
Emily observed the beautiful chocolate cake sitting on the table, trying her best to see what was special about it. ππβ―π¦ππ¦π£πππππ.πβ΄π
However, it seemed quite a tough job as she was unable to find anything other than the cake being extremely beautiful if that was even the right word to be used to describe just how good it looked.
"Am I allowed to eat it?" The stupid question was out of her mouth way before she realized just how dumb it was for her to ask that.
Kaiden chuckled as he placed the little heart candle in the center of the cake as he spoke, "Do you even have to ask? This is your birthday cake, angel. You got the first right to taste it." Kaiden handed her the knife before he lit the heart candle.
"Happy Birthday to you... Happy Birthday to you..."
Emily chuckled as she heard Kaiden singing the birthday song as he came to stand next to her as she closed her eyes to make a wish before blowing the candle.
However, instead of using the knife, she just picked up a spoon and filled it with the cake. "Here, have a taste. Iβm giving you the permission to have the first taste."
Kaiden accepted the cake before he too filled the spoon with the cake and offered it to her. Emily finally tasted the cake and immediately felt the sweet flavor filling her taste buds to the brim. She almost let out a moan of pleasure as she took another bite of the delicious cake.
"Is it from Daniel?" She asked Kaiden as she cut a huge slice of the cake and shifted it on her plate to fully enjoy the cake. "But I can tell that thereβs some difference too." She looked at the man in question and the look on his face answered her question almost immediately.
"Oh! I think now I know who made this along with Danny. Thank you. I have been wanting to taste her cakes for a while now." She had been curious about the woman Daniel had been going on dates with, ever since she got to know about her from Shane after her trip to the resort.
Only she knew how hard it was for her to not do a background check on the said woman to satisfy her curiosity. She wanted Daniel to be the one to introduce her to the woman he was interested in.
"Another brother of yours seems to have finally found the love of his life. You must be happy." Kaiden too joined her as he cut a slice of cake for himself and settled down in his seat to enjoy it.
"Of course, I am. Heβs finally paying attention to his own life and happiness. I just wish him success." Emily responded as she filled her mouth with the cake.
The two of them chatted further as they finished the cake. By the time they were done, Emily was at a loss recalling the amount of sweet she had just consumed.
Kaiden stood up from his seat and moved to stand in front of her with his palm outstretched towards her. "Would you like to dance?"
A smile bloomed on Emilyβs lips as she slipped her hand into his inviting palm before answering, "I would love to."
The two of them headed down towards the vacant area of the balcony that was still filled with clouds.
The music changed as the two of them took their positions. The soft and slow tone started as Kaiden took the lead and she followed his steps.
His palm resting against her bare back was proving to be a huge distraction as Emily struggled to keep her body in control. But it was easy said than done.
Having nothing to do other than allowing Kaiden to move her body to his preference, she got enough time in her hands to check out the man... her man.
The two top buttons of his shirt were left undone and it gave her a perfect view of his chiseled cleavage and a slight perk of his chest and the fine abs that he was packing.
Knowing fully well that he was observing her every movement, she tried to not make it obvious that she was checking him out.
Her hand that was resting on his shoulder moved on its own accord as her fingers tugged slightly at the ends of his silver strands.
"Careful, love. Iβm not really good at self-control." He whispered the warning next to her ear, his warm breath grazing her skin and sending sharks flying all over her body.
For a moment, Emily had the silly idea of actually testing the limit of his self-control but then the warning bells in her brain started ringing, telling her not to start a play that she would be unable to finish.
So instead of provoking him further, she moved closer to him and wrapped both her arms around his neck before placing a kiss on the corner of his lips.
"Thank you so much for this dinner surprise. I loved it." She whispered as she placed her face against his shoulder and took in a deep breath, inhaling his familiar scent.
"As long as you like it," Kaiden responded as he placed a kiss on the top of her head before he wrapped both his arms around her back to pull her closer into his embrace.
They danced for a little while after that, just enjoying each otherβs company while swaying to the music being in each otherβs embrace. It was undoubtedly one of the most peaceful and lovely moments of her life.
After a while, they finally ended the dance but instead of returning to the table, Kaiden asked her to stay still as he wanted to give her something.
"I still owe you your birthday present." He reminded her as he conjured a dark blue colored velvet box from thin air and kneeled down on one leg on the floor in front of her.
