Chapter 342: Love Marks

When Emily opened her eyes, a sliver of the morning sunlight was peeking through the long black curtains that were covering the floor-to-ceiling glass windows.

The soft breathing from the man sleeping next to her made her brain recall all the vents from the night before and she almost felt her entire body turning a shade of pink.

That’s right... she... they... they made love...

A small smile bloomed on her lips as she felt the happiness that her soul and mate bond was radiating.

She felt thirsty, so she got up carefully, trying not to wake Kaiden. But it wasn’t an easy job as the man had his arm wrapped around her and his face nuzzling into the back of her head. It took her quite a while and some effort to finally pull herself out of his hold.

"Uuh..."

A groan escaped her lips unknowingly. She didn’t realize just how sore her body was after their last night’s activities. She completely forgot about this part of the so-called love-making session.

She struggled out of the bed, and as soon as she put her feet on the floor, no strength gathered in her legs and she fell down. Thankfully, there was a rug on the floor and she didn’t hurt her knees too badly.

Her body hurt like someone had beaten her up all over. Every muscle in her body felt sore. Deep between her legs, a constant throbbing pain persisted.

The thought of relieving the pain through her magic entered her brain but she discarded it as soon as it appeared. The last thing she wanted was to upset everyone or cause some trouble by using her powers.

Once again, she felt really helpless about her powers which had been more of a bane than a boon so far.

She massaged her own shoulders and arms, trying to dispel some of the soreness from her limbs so that she could at least walk properly.

She was on her way to massage her wrists when she discovered the mark there. It was a reddish-purple bruise that she immediately recalled how she got. And this also made her recall several of the places where he must have left his mark.

The strength immediately returned to her legs as she stood up with the support of the edge of the bed and hurried into the walk-in closet to find the full-length mirror that she had seen there before.

The first thing she noticed in the mirror was just how wild she appeared. Somehow, the woman staring back at her from the mirror was the same one she used to see every morning but at the same time, she appeared slightly different. There was something about her that made her glow.

Taking in a deep breath, Emily carefully untied her robe and observed her chest. She discovered more similar bruise marks. They were everywhere - her shoulders, collarbone, throat, arms, chest, and inner thighs. There were so many of them that she could hardly believe her eyes.

Shocked, she quickly tied her robe again. Her face burned from embarrassment and she covered it with both hands.

’Aah. Oh my God.’

Emily felt like digging a hole in the ground and burying herself in it. Embarrassment started flooding in like a tide.

What she was going to do now? It was surely impossible to cover all those marks with make-up and she couldn’t just go out while wearing a full sleeve and high neck clothes because it would immediately set off an alarm and the last thing she wanted was to get confronted by her brothers.

Yep! She knew that despite all the weirdness about the situation, her brothers would still go ahead and confront her.

What would she do?

Emily shook her head left and right to shake off the worry and panic that had taken over her. She suddenly felt like waking Kaiden up and punching him a couple of times to vent some of her frustration.

She was on her way out of the closet room when she bumped into a hard body and almost fell down if not for the strong arms that immediately caught her and held her tightly.

As Emily looked up at his handsome face, she found his cerulean eyes staring right back at her with a twinkle of a smile in them that made her realize that he knew exactly what was going on through her head while she was inside the closet room.

Embarrassment and anger took over her and she tried to push the man away. However, his body was as solid as a rock and wouldn’t budge. She decided to quit fighting against him when she saw that any further efforts would be futile.

"Let go of me!" She ordered him when she realized that her actions were of no use.

"Why should I?" Kaiden asked as he took a step closer to her, almost making the little space between their bodies disappear.

"You..."

Emily was at a loss for words and she could hardly decide if she wanted to kiss the man in front of her or really punch him in the face to get an upper hand in the situation somehow.

Kaiden let out a small chuckle before he suddenly cupped her face and placed a soft feathery kiss on her forehead, surprising Emily who immediately felt all her anger dissipating to some other land.

"I thought you will like my surprise," Kaiden said when he finally pulled away, clearly referring to the love marks that he had left behind all over her body.

"Are you out of your mind, Kaiden? I have an important business meeting today. How can you be so childish? And what if my brothers saw them by mistake? They will definitely kill you."

"Are you worried about me, Angel?"

"You..."

Emily just shook her head and gave up on reasoning with the man who had lost his mind. But she knew that he would regret it the most if her brothers indeed found out about what had happened between them the night before because of those marks.

She was pulled out of her thoughts when Kaiden suddenly lifted her and started walking into the bedroom.

"What are you doing?" She asked in alarm.

"It’s still pretty early... and we have a lot of time on our hands..."
