The Broken Halo-Chapter 178: Pay Heavily For This
Just like any functional large and powerful organization, the Shadowgrave Clan had their law enforcement agencies.
And one of them were the Shadow Enforcers.
The Shadow Enforcers were mainly made up of Year 3 Initiates or graduates of the academy who became Shadow Blades and wanted to earn some money.
They were all experienced, battle hardened, and powerful individuals.
Even if one was Minor Archfiend with a Supreme Common Bloodline or a Minor Noble Bloodline, Simon would not look down on such an individual and neither would he treat them with levity.
The Shadow Enforcers were all shadow users, and the moment Simon sensed through Shadow Sense that a presence was in his shadow which emitted no killing intent, he instantly guessed that it was a Shadow Enforcer.
After all, the commotion he and Red Fang were causing was a lot, and somebody must have definitely reported it. Especially after Red Fang began to use his chaos.
’This Shadow Enforcer is a Supreme Archfiend. He’s far too powerful for me to handle.’
’At least it wasn’t the Shadow Inquisitors that arrived. If that happened, then the situation would just become more dire.’
Just as Simon had this thought, the Shadow Enforcer made a slightly surprised sound.
"Did you know about my arrival from your shadow? But that should be impossible for a Year One Initiate. So why did you stop attacking him?"
Simon said nothing at first, then he calmly answered.
"I’m a demon cat. My instincts are good."
The Shadow Enforcer behind him chuckled softly for a moment, then he let go of Simon.
"Look at me."
Simon calmly turned and looked at the Shadow Enforcer.
The Shadow Enforcer wore a long black coat that fell to his calves. His mask was pure black with a dark red word written on the forehead of the mask- LAW.
The Shadow Enforcer’s dressing reminded Simon of the military personnel of Earth before the apocalypse.
’Long black boots. Black trousers, and most importantly... a brown belt. That’s a relief. He’s just a low ranking Shadow Enforcer.’
Many Year One lnitiates would not be able to tell the difference between the ranks of the Shadow Enforcers, but Simon could.
A brown belt represented a low ranking Shadow Enforcer.
A dark red belt represented a middle ranking Shadow Enforcer.
And a black belt represented a high ranking Shadow Enforcer.
If who appeared was a middle or high ranking Shadow Enforcer, Simon would have been worried. But since it was just a low ranking Shadow Enforcer, it meant the rules that were broken were minor rules and the punishment would not be so severe.
"Are you sure you’re a Year One Initiate? The first thing you did was to observe my appearance then look at my belt. Why did you look at my belt? To look down on me?"
The Shadow Enforcer said, and Simon responded calmly.
"It is essential for me to know the rank of the Shadow Enforcer standing before me. It would be unfortunate if I do not show respect to a high ranking Enforcer because of my ignorance."
"Hmm." The Shadow Enforcer hummed, not being able to find fault in Simon’s words.
Simon had neither disrespected or done anything wrong to him in any way. So, he decided to let it be.
He opened his right hand, and a pair of handcuffs appeared above his hand.
"You would be taken in for questioning. Do not resist."
Simon put his hands out without resisting or saying anything.
Those like Grey Fang who were watching were rather surprised by his lack of resistance because they believed that Simon was an arrogant and hot blooded individual.
What he did with the Iron Fangs and the words he said to them made everyone who witnessed all these things to believe that Simon would resist the Shadow Enforcers.
Grey Fang and several others in the cafeteria wished to see such a thing since it would be an interesting sight for them to witness.
Unfortunately, none of that happened.
Simon willingly accepted his arrest without provoking anybody.
’This kid. He’s not even afraid of me or the fact that he has been arrested. Usually, First Years would be tense and anxious the first time this happens to them.’
’Some would even beg and get on their knees to avoid being arrested, believing that they had committed a grave offense, but this kid is so calm and is not emitting a single bit of anxiety.’
The low ranked Shadow Enforcer observed Simon who was calmly looking at the members of the Iron Fangs and was also observing his surroundings.
Simon was a little bit surprised when he saw that there were four low ranking Shadow Enforcers that came because of his fight with Red Fang.
One had her knee on Red Fang’s back with his hands held behind his back.
Not knowing that it was a Shadow Enforcer that attacked from out of nowhere, he tried fighting back.
But how could he win?
His opponent was a Supreme Archfiend and he was just a Minor Archfiend.
There was no way he could win when he was not Simon who had secrets and methods of fighting those higher ranked than him.
’There’s a Shadow Enforcer attending to that child called Blue Fang with a missing arm. Grey Fang has been cuffed while the last one with a half metal mask is being cuffed.’
’According to the rules, Red Fang would be punished for using his chaos and for destroying the property of the academy.’
’I’ll also be punished, but not for fighting since I was just defending myself, but for cutting off an arm of a fellow student.’
’And since I’m a slave... My punishment would be triple of what it’s meant to be... How annoying.’
’Iron Fangs huh. I don’t know what your group actually is or what your status is, but you disturbed me when I was eating, wasted my food, and put me in trouble just out of jealousy and you wanting to bully the First Years.’
’You would definitely pay for this, and you’ll pay heavily.’
