The CEO's Seductive Doll-Chapter 52: Doll’s Song
’’𝘑’𝘢𝘷𝘰𝘶𝘦, 𝘫’𝘦𝘯 𝘢𝘪 𝘣𝘢𝘷é, 𝘱𝘢𝘴 𝘷𝘰𝘶𝘴, 𝘔𝘰𝘯 𝘢𝘮𝘰𝘶𝘳’
A voice, pure and smooth, drifted effortlessly in the room. Her soprano was rich, with an absolutely flawless diction.
He rested his head gently on a woman’s lap, enjoying the thickness of their thighs and the feeling of the smooth cotton skirt against his cheek. Delicate, slender fingers threaded through his silky brown locks, tangling her digits on the strands of his hair.
’𝘈𝘷𝘢𝘯𝘵 𝘥’𝘢𝘷𝘰𝘪𝘳 𝘦𝘶 𝘷𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘥𝘦 𝘷𝘰𝘶𝘴, 𝘔𝘰𝘯 𝘢𝘮𝘰𝘶𝘳’
Each word that she sang was clear and well-enunciated. A subtle and seductive French accent made her sound even more mesmerizing.
It was a comforting feeling, the person’s thighs and fingers. He wanted to stay there forever, enjoying every single moment of it as if it were his last.
"Evanescence?" The voice, the one singing in such a beautiful and elegant way, spoke softly. "Are you finally awake?"
Evan opened his eyes, and the first thing that he saw were his sister’s features.
She was the epitome of beauty, with eyes as icy blue as the coldest winter’s day and skin as flawless as porcelain.
Her dark, thick eyebrows framed her face, matching the shade of her hair, which flowed like a river of chocolate. Her lips were pale and were merely glossed with lip balm.
She was not fond of make-up unless she was in front of her boyfriend.
"Good morning, Dolores." Evan greeted her, finally sitting up to relieve his sister’s numb legs.
Dolores wrinkled her nose, tapping her feet on the floor to restore feeling to her limbs after supporting Evan’s head for an hour.
"’Dolly,’" She corrected. "You know I don’t like that name." It means ’sorrow,’ after all."
"Then you shouldn’t call me ’Evanescence’ either," Evan retorted.
"Why not?" Dolly did it again with her adorable frown. "It’s a cool name, don’t you think?"
"I get bullied at school because it’s such a weird name." He grumbled, crossing his arms like the child that he was. "Also, it means ’fleeting.’"
"Like fireworks," Dolly countered playfully.
"No, ’Dolly,’" Evan emphasized as he said her preferred name. "It’s like an omen that I’ll die early."
"Evan!" Dolly shouted disapprovingly, finally saying Evan’s preferred name. "Don’t say that!" "What?!" He yelled back. "I’m just saying that your name is also–"
"–Implies that I’ll live a life full of suffering," Dolly interrupted, rolling her eyes. "I know, I know. But hey, don’t you think one of us got lucky?"
"You mean, Cynthia?"
"Her name means, ’moon goddess’," Dolly explained.
"It’s not like Dad named him." Evan pointed this out. "You’re her mother. Shouldn’t you be the one naming your own daughter?"
She didn’t say anything. Seeing that Dolly had no intentions to share her sentiments (if she had any), Evan continued his musing.
"I wonder if Dad hates us... I mean, why would he even give us such names with weird meanings?!"
Dolly remained silent. She merely looked at him with piercing blue eyes.
Just like her name, they were full of sorrow.
"Why are you looking at me like that?" Evan asked, feeling slightly creeped out at his sister’s intense stare.
Weirdly, he had been talking for a while already, but it only occurred to him now that this was the only time he felt his mouth move.
"Looking at me like how?" A voice, sounding so far away and different from Dolly’s, asked in return.
Evan’s eyes flew open.
For real, this time.
He shot up, and the sofa emitted a soft creak in response to the sudden shift.
Sofa.
He was lying on the sofa.
He realized where he was and scanned his surroundings. He was back in the apartment, his apartment.
"Evan?" The voice that was filled with concern called his name, drawing his attention.
He turned to the source, only to see Eternity with an anxious expression on her face. It seemed like Eternity was cradling Evan’s head until he woke up. It wasn’t Dolly’s thighs that he was resting on.
"Fuck!" Evan muttered softly, his face sinking into his hands.
It had been a dream, perhaps a memory—he couldn’t be sure himself.
"Evan?" Eternity called out again, bringing him back to reality. "Are you alright? Would you like me to give you some water?"
Evan shook his head and was about to thank Eternity for her concern. However, as he removed his hands from his face, an intense pain shot through his right eye.
"You punched me," Evan remembered. "You punched me, Eternity."
"Yes, yes, I did." She replied, showing no hint of remorse.
"What the fuck, Eternity–" He started to speak but was unable to.
This time, it was because of the pain coursing through his face. He wanted to argue with her, but the agony was so excruciating that he found himself completely unable even to move.
"I’m sorry, Evan." Eternity apologized, though it was very obvious that she was insincere with her words. "I did it because, what did you call it again? Ah, right," She exclaimed, a hint of sarcasm in her voice. "You were being a bitch."
Evan attempted to open his mouth, but even the slightest movement of his facial muscles caused him to groan in pain. This made no sense. The muscles around his eyes shouldn’t have been connected to the ones near his mouth in a way that would cause such agony.
Then it hit him.
"You knocked me out." He managed to say so even amid the excruciating pain.
Eternity looked at him, feigning innocence.
"I don’t know what you mean."
"You knocked me out," Evan repeated, disbelief in his voice. "You knocked me out with a single hit. How is that even possible?"
"Just because I’m a woman doesn’t mean I can’t throw a mean punch. Anyway," she pointed at his bruised eye. "I’ll get you an ice pack as an apology." 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝒆𝒘𝙚𝓫𝙣𝙤𝒗𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢
Evan rolled his eyes, but he immediately regretted it. Eternity rose from her spot on the sofa and headed to the kitchen. At least, that was what he thought she was going to do.
Abruptly, however, Eternity peeked her head out from the division of the living room and the kitchen-dining room.
"I hope you learned your lesson."
Eternity grinned at him before disappearing into the next room. Soon, the room was filled with the voice of her singing.
It was a French song, a language that he hadn’t the faintest clue how to speak, so he didn’t know what in the name of hell Eternity was even singing.
But the tone—he knew that one.
If he were not mistaken, it was ’La Javanaise.’
It was the same song that Dolly was singing in his dream.
