The CEO's Seductive Doll-Chapter 58: Doll’s Doppelgänger
Evan couldn’t help but feel curious, so he moved closer to the commotion near the exit to check what was going on. As he approached, the circle of people parted slightly as they recognized who he was.
"Shit, he really did come!" The cameraman swore before he started grabbing his vlogger companion. "John, she actually brought the CEO of Royal Blue here!"
"As if!" The vlogger, whose name was apparently John, scoffed in a slurred voice. "Sure, she’s hot, but I don’t think she’s hot enough to nab a billionaire!"
Evan pushed himself into the crowd, which he assumed was curious onlookers or actual fans of this influencer, and finally found what the attraction was.
Evan couldn’t believe that he was saying this for someone aside from Eternity, but what an attraction she was, indeed.
There in the middle of the crowd was a woman with curly red hair that made her look like she was glowing brighter than the sun, standing tall and defiant in the midst of a vlogger who thought he owned the world just because he was slightly known on social media.
Unlike Eternity, who always seemed so fragile around him (aside from the time she punched him, of course), this woman had her hands balled into a fist and looked like she could sock the living shit out of this ’John’ vlogger as each second passed.
This red-headed woman locked her eyes (he couldn’t quite distinguish what color it was since she was wearing a pair of black sunglasses) with his, and recognition flickered in her gaze.
"Evan!" She called, and a hint of relief crossed her face. "Evan, you’re finally here!"
She pushed her way through the crowd until she was finally in front of Evan. To say that he was overwhelmed when she wrapped her arms around his neck, causing the onlookers to murmur, was an understatement.
When the woman finally pulled away from him, Evan was finally able to scrutinize her features.
She was the same height as Eternity, but maybe it seemed like that since this woman was wearing a pair of black stilettos. She wore a black office blazer over a white blouse, paired with a pair of plain black trousers.
Her style was monochromatic, making her bright red hair stand out like a bright flame.
"I waited for you," she said, removing her sunglasses. "Your secretary said you’d be out by 5, but it’s already 6:30, and you were still hauled up in your office!"
Without the glasses covering her eyes, Evan could finally fully examine her face.
She literally looked like Eternity.
But instead of moss-green eyes, hers were a shade of chocolate brown. Furthermore, even though she was literally a carbon copy of his doll, this woman had a more mature look in comparison to Eternity’s young features.
"Okay, everyone." The woman, who looked like an older version of Eternity, waved her hands around as if to shoo away the crowd around them. "The party is over. Go away and leave us alone."
Evan frowned at her rude manner of speaking but didn’t say anything.
The crowd slowly dispersed, but not without disgruntled mutterings about how they didn’t even get to take a picture with that John vlogger.
John himself, surprisingly (or maybe it shouldn’t be), sobered up upon recognizing that Evan was the ’real deal’. He and his cameraman left without making a fuss, but they left with a starstruck look on their faces.
Now that they were alone, the woman returned her gaze to Evan, smiling expectantly at him.
"Well?" She sounded impatient. "Aren’t you going to congratulate me?"
"For what?" he asked in confusion, both by the fact that this woman was acting so familiar with him and by why Evan should congratulate her in the first place.
The mystery woman scoffed as if in utter disbelief that Evan could forget such an important detail.
"I beat Royal Blue for the ’Best Company’ award in this year’s GLA!" She flashed a smile, and Evan swore he saw the brightest set of canines in his life.
GLA was the acronym for ’Golden Liquor Awards,’ an international annual award show specifically held to judge the products and performance of brewing companies around the world.
"Ah, right," Evan replied, trying his best not to show that he had no idea who the person he was talking to was. "We lost that one. But didn’t Royal Blue win the other six out of the thirteen categories?"
He tried not to sound smug, but it did anyway because that was his other default tone aside from anger.
Usually, when Evan displayed his arrogant side to other people, they became irritated with him. He expected this woman to react the same as the other. 𝗳𝐫𝚎𝗲𝚠𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝘃𝚎𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝗺
But she didn’t.
Instead, her brown eyes widened, and Evan didn’t know if she was stifling a gasp or a laugh. Or perhaps it was a gasp that turned into a laugh. Either way, what he was sure about was that this lady swatted him across the arm like they were old friends joking around.
"Damn you, Evan!" This time, she was full-blown giggling. "You’re the same as always."
Evan didn’t know how to respond to her.
Suddenly, she stopped mid-giggle. Her amused expression vanished, and a serious frown took its place.
"You’ve been awfully distant since the moment you laid eyes on me." She narrowed her eyes. "Don’t tell me... You don’t recognize who I am."
Evan wasn’t the easy-to-read type, so he was genuinely surprised that she managed to catch on that he, in fact, had no idea who she was.
"Damn you, Evan!" She repeated it again. This time, however, it was in a tone of annoyance. "I knew it!"
"Knew what?" Evan blinked blankly.
"You were acting differently towards me!" She was practically yelling at this point. "Usually, whenever I talk to you, you act all shy with a matching blush on your cheeks!"
Evan scowled. "I never do that."
He was too much of a proud man to "act all why" and "blush" in front of a woman whose identity was still unknown at this point.
"Yes, you do!" The mystery woman insisted. "Freiheit always told me you never got over me when we were teenagers, but I think you finally did!"
