Chapter 80: Sixty-nine

With the royal siblings staying in Philipia, Jannah’s people felt a sense of relief washing over them. Having a member of the royal family would be a good advantage for their master.

Now, the matters about Princess Huenazia and Prince Hanzo aside, Jannah decided to go to the second phase of the meeting— putting people in the system.

The system popped up before her eyes, making her glance at it momentarily and press on the window she wanted to look at.

She raised her hand, pressing her fingers against the social bond window in the system. The window materialized on the other side of her view which made her turn her head in that direction.

"I have this social bond in the system. I am planning to contribute the slots according to the people I see fit to protect this town." Jannah said, announcing the main topic of their meeting.

She scanned the room for the reactions, but she didn’t have enough time to waste and went back to look at the social bond window, "I will put all of you in different bonds. If you don’t want to be included then I won’t force it, but if you’re fine with it then please keep it in that your every move will be monitored."

Social bonds are similar to family tree. Although, social bonds are for those who aren’t tied to her biologically.

It has three kinds of bonds— Ally, confidant, and flower. She doesn’t know what the last bond was for, but she’s guessing that it’s for those she finds attractive.

These social bonds will have a mental communication link just like the family tree, but the difference is that it can be done in a certain distance— according to the system— and won’t work unless the two people are five kilometers near each other.

"According to the social bonds guidelines, those who will be put in the category of ally will receive an active skill from me. Not only that, you’ll be able to communicate with me through your mind and your position will always be known to me because of the bond between us." Jannah stated, her eyes shifting through the words on the system’s guidelines.

She needs people to receive some of her skills because she knows that a community doesn’t work with just one person leading and keeping the people safe.

She needs people that she could trust and the people inside the room are the ones she trusts the most.

Well, just a tad bit for the royal siblings.

"I would like to be put in that category you speak of, my lady." Arthur spoke up, standing from the chair, standing tall, flexing his unexplainable height, "Duke Zacharias has already given us permission to follow whoever we want and I chose to follow you. Please give me the honor of being your first knight in the list you speak of—"

"No!" Polo cut Arthur off and raised his arm, as if his outburst wasn’t enough to make everyone’s eyes snap to his muscular form, "Let me be the first knight, my lady!" 𝗳𝐫𝚎𝗲𝚠𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝘃𝚎𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝗺

"I asked for that position first, Sir Polo." Arthur narrowed his eyes at Jannah’s knight.

Jannah nodded her head as she smiled at them, "I guess I’ll be putting Lucienta in the list first."

"What?!"

"My lady?"

The two knights snapped their heads in her direction, their eyes wide in panic and shock, watching Jannah raise her hand and tap the air.

"Lu..cien..ta.." Jannah murmured, saying the maid’s name out loud. She didn’t press Enter yet and shot the head maid a glance, "Are you okay being put in the ally, Lucienta? Or do you want to be put in the confidant instead? Or you don’t want to have your name inputted?"

"What does a confidant do, my lady?" Instead of refusing Jannah’s offer, she asked for the benefits of the other bond.

"Well.." Jannah trailed off and looked back at the social bond window to read what a confidant receives and does, "It’s the same as allies, but instead of active skill, you’ll get passive skill."

"Oh.." Lucienta blinked and nodded her head in understanding, "Does passive skill mean that I don’t have to do or say anything to activate it? It will be just there?"

"That’s right." The Countess affirmed, her eyes reading the guidelines with narrowed eyes, "However, it seems like I won’t be the one to choose what skill you will receive. The system will give you the skill it deems fit for you."

"Oh." Lucienta pursed her lips, her eyes looking on the floor board with a small frown.

Seeing that Lucienta is having a hard time choosing what she wants, Jannah smiled and looked at the person next to her, "How about you, Marco?"

"I would like to be put in the ally category, my lady." Marco answered almost immediately, as if he was waiting for Jannah to ask him, "But if you want to put me in the other category then I don’t mind, as long as I can be useful to you."

Jannah smiled fondly towards the head butler, admiring his loyalty and desire to be of use to her.

"You want to be put in the ally, then you will be put there." Jannah said without much thought, putting the head butler’s name on the social bond window.

[Ding!]

[Are you sure you want to put Marco as your ally?]

Jannah didn’t have to read the options below and quickly pressed the agree button.

[Ding!]

[Congratulations! You have input your very first ally in the social bond! Receive your congratulatory gift in your inbox!]

Before Jannah could press the side of her head, Marco had stumbled forward. Jannah abruptly stood up from her seat and looked at the butler with panic stricken eyes, "What’s wrong, Marco?"

The head butler groaned, holding his head and muttered something under his breath. Polo, his son, had rushed to his side to assist him on getting off the floor, a worried expression on his face as he looked at his father.

"Ugh.." Marco let out another groan, "My lady.. I heard a voice in my head.."

Jannah walked around the desk, speed walking towards Marco and grabbed him gently on the arm. Merlot had stood up from the couch to give Marco his seat, making Jannah and Polo help the old man sit down on the soft cushion.

She was quick to activate her skill, Salvation, to heal Marco.

As she placed her hand on the butler’s arm, the familiar healing red light appeared around her hand and began to spread through Marco’s body.

"What’s wrong?" The Countess asked once more, her voice dripping with worry and urgency, "Are you hurt? Are you feeling something else?"

"This didn’t happen when she put me in the family tree." Jeriel commented, whispering quietly to Kirie, "I was so excited that I was able to communicate with her that I didn’t feel anything bad in my body."

Kirie and Duke Eulicies gave the youngest Rafelon a confused and envious look. They know that Jannah loves her little sister more than anyone else, but they didn’t expect her to put Jeriel on the list first.

Not that they have a say in it.

"I thought we can trust the system?" Prince Hanzo voices out his concern, "Why is your butler hurt?"

He was looking at the butler’s furrowed eyebrows and the glowing red light on Jannah’s hand that enveloped the man’s whole being. Is she still human? How can she have these abilities and not ask herself that?

"I’m not hurt!" Marco hissed after hearing the prince’s offensive question, snapping his head up and glaring at him, "My master wouldn’t do anything to put me in danger! Don’t even think of saying that to her again, Your Highness!"

"Don’t mind him, Marco." Jannah was quick to break the uprising argument between the two and forced the butler to look at her, "Tell me what happened instead."

Marco blinked, narrowing his eyes towards the third prince for another second before he looked at the Countess, "I heard a voice, my lady. It told me that I received Mind’s Eye.. Whatever that is."

"Huh?" Jannah’s eyebrows shot up to her hairline, "Mind’s Eye? That’s one of the new skills I’ve got.. Wait, hold on. Let me check what it’s about."

She pulled her hand away, deactivating her healing skill and opened the skill window to look at the said skill. She pressed the skill’s description, realizing that she hadn’t checked it nor tried it out when she received it.

[Mind’s Eye:

• This skill can delve into the memories and thoughts of others, accessing their inner thoughts and secrets without their knowledge, involving the ability to see the memories of others and the ability to make them re-experience those memories.

• This includes the ability to delve into another person’s memories and then force them to relive a chosen memory as if the player was the person themselves. ]

It’s a dangerous skill. Jannah said, reading the description of the skill through the mental communication link to Marco.

My lady? Marco asked, his wide eyes blinking rapidly, yet no sound left his lips, he had just heard his master say what the skill was about without seeing her move her lips. It’s mind-blowing!

However, the previous shocked look on the butler’s face disappeared, getting replaced with a serious one.

"I understand, my lady." Marco said, speaking with his voice, alarming everyone around them and made them look at the two with wide eyes.
