The Countess Lives Twice in the Apocalypse-Chapter 81: Eighty
"Since I’m done with Marco, I’ll be putting Arthur and Polo next." Jannah announced, lifting her hand in the air and pressing the keys to input their name into the ally bond, "Go and sit down, you might get startled like Marco."
When they heard Jannah order them to sit down, they both moved to take a seat.
However, they both stopped in their tracks, their heads snapping up as they listened intently. A sudden chill ran down their spines when they both heard a strange voice in their heads, soft but distinct, as if someone was whispering directly into their ears.
They looked at each other, a sense of uneasiness creeping up their body. They could not tell where the voice was coming from, leaving them feeling unsettled and confused.
At first, they thought they were imagining things, but the voice was clear as if someone were speaking to them using the back of their mind.
The knights stood frozen for a moment, unsure if they should continue to move to sit down.
[You have established a bond with Player Jannah.]
The voice that was previously soft and district is now loud and clear, making them flinch in their spot, not expecting it to suddenly raise its volume.
[Choosing a skill suited for Arthur..]
[Choosing a skill suited for Polo..]
The two could hear something else playing after the voice spoke, a rhythmic sound that made them want to cover their ears. It was unpleasant and unfamiliar, sending a chill down their spines.
[You have received [Elemental wall] as your skill.]
[You have received [Rebellion] as your skill.]
The voice congratulated them, loud and obnoxious, making them stumble forward and grab their head— the sound was strong and earsplitting, as if someone had thrown a bomb in the air and exploded right to their ears.
Jannah was fast to catch the two of them, holding each knight on their abdomens, immediately casting her healing skill to cleanse them and treat whatever’s hurting.
Duke Eulicies and Prince Hanzo moved to help Jannah put the knights down on the floor, making them sit down and hold their body up to not let them fall down.
"The voice.." Arthur groaned out, his eyebrows furrowed in pain, holding his head, "It’s so loud."
Despite the confusion Jannah had felt, she continued healing the knights as she situated her hand on their broad shoulders, letting the red light around her hands envelope the knights’ bodies.
"It seems like the system’s notification needs to be taken seriously." Jannah sighed out, eyeing Arthur and Polo with a worried crease on her eyebrows, "I guess hearing it almost everyday made me immune to it. I should have known that it would have a different effect on someone else."
"You didn’t know." Duke Eulicies said, glancing at Jannah, "You don’t have to feel bad about it."
She didn’t respond to his assurance and instead, continued and focused on healing the knights. Their mind was elsewhere for a little while, just holding their heads and sitting upright, their bodies rigid and tense.
They calmed down after a while, and once they did, they were staring at the floor with wide eyes, as if they had received a revelation.
Are you good? Jannah connected the link to Arthur’s mental communication link, eyeing him.
The burly man’s head snaps up, his eyes growing as wide as saucers, a shocked and bewildered expression on his face. My lady? How are we— no.. So, it worked? Am I one of your allies now?
You are. Jannah nodded her head before she looked away from him and glanced at Polo instead.
She focused her eyesight on him, linking the mental communication to him and asked, Polo? Are you doing alright? Are you hurt?
What?— Polo’s eyes snapped upwards, meeting her gaze out of shock and disbelief, hearing her voice had brought him out of his daze, but now, he’s confused. Is this what the Countess was talking about that they can communicate without having to speak physically?
Is this how we can talk to you using our mind, my lady? Polo asked, his shocked expression shifting to an eager one, his previous bewilderment was now replaced with an excited and happy smile.
The sudden turns on his behavior gave Jannah a whiplash. All she could do is nod her head as a response, not able to think of anything at the moment.
"Are you okay now, Sir Arthur? Sir Polo?" Duke Eulicies asked, noticing the changes in the knights’ expressions.
The Duke’s voice has snapped Jannah out of her daze, making her blink rapidly and stop her healing. She withdrew her hands and stood properly, straightening her back and letting out a huff.
"Polo and Arthur are done." Jannah stated and turned to look at the Ebonics couple, "Are you two willing to be put in my social bonds, too?"
At her question, Clara brightened up and sprung up in her seat, a happy and excited expression on her face, "I want to be next! I want to be in the ally category, too!"
"Understood." Jannah smiled softly at her friend and input her name in the ally bond.
She walked over to Clara, her hand ready to heal her if she would have the same reaction as the three men she inputted in the social bond. However, as they waited for any reaction, Clara showed no sign of dizziness.
"Oh! I heard a voice!" Clara chirped, her eyes wide and bright with excitement as she looked at Jannah, "Cure Rain? It said that I have Cure Rain as my skill, Jannah! What does it do? Do I make it rain?"
The eagerness and curiosity on Clara’s face was clear as she giggled, a wide smile on her face.
To be honest.. I don’t know. Though, Jannah hasn’t used the skill yet so she really can’t say much about it. But it’s related to healing. Don’t use it unless it’s necessary.
Just like what she did to Marco, Arthur, and Polo. She spoke with Clara through their mental communication link.
A gasp escaped Clara’s lips as she responded in an eager manner, Jannah? Oh my god! I can hear you even though you didn’t open your mouth! This is fascinating!
Stepping aside, Jannah turned to Merlot and smiled, "How about you?"
"Confidant." The Marques murmured, an uneasy expression on his face, "Everyone seems to want to be an ally, but I want to be a confidant."
Jannah hummed, raising her hand in the air and input Merlot’s name on the confidant bond.
She waited for Merlot to have the same reaction as the three men behind her, and to her surprise, he did get dizzy. He suddenly flinched in his spot and grabbed his head so Jannah reached out and placed her hand on his head, casting her skill to start healing him.
"I got Regeneration." Merlot groaned out, his eyebrows furrowed as he pulled his hand away from his head, "The voice was so loud.. No wonder the knights collapsed."
"I was okay though." Clara interjected, placing a hand on her husband’s shoulder, "At least you’re doing alright, dear."
Jannah rolled her eyes at the display of affection between her friends and turned around, her eyes landing on Lucienta who was smiling at her. The head maid nodded her head which indicates that she has already made up her mind.
"Confidant, my lady." Lucienta said, a small content smile on her face.
Wordlessly and quickly, Jannah inputs Lucienta’s name in the confidant bond and reaches out to touch the head maid by the arm, just in case she gets dizzy as well.
However, she didn’t show any sign or reaction except for a quiet giggle and said, "I have received the skill Life Wall."
I’ll explain the use of the skill later. Jannah linked the mental communication to Merlot before she switched to Lucienta. Their eyes went wide slightly when they heard Jannah’s voice in their heads, but didn’t see her talk to them.
Just like the ones before them, they had an idea of how the mental communication link works.
With only four people inside the room who aren’t listed in any of the bonds, Jannah turned to them and tilted her head lightly as she scanned them with a calculating gaze, "Are you willing to be put in the social bond or not?"
"Is there another bond except for ally and confidant?" Princess Huenazia asked, making everyone’s attention turn to her.
"Yes.." Jannah said, trailing off as she glanced at the social bond window, "It’s called flowers.. But I’m not really sure what they are for or what benefits they have yet because I haven’t registered anyone in it."
"Then please register me there." Princess Huenazia stated, her sunset colored eyes pleading silently which made Jannah swallow, feeling herself getting drawn in.
Jannah forced herself to look away from the princess, blinking rapidly and quickly inputting the princess’s name in the flower bond— making the princess gasp, a hand on her head as she stumbled back.
Duke Eulicies was fast enough to catch her, gripping her hand and pulling her towards him, but catched her before her body could get closer to his body.
He held the princess at arm’s reach, his face straight and neutral.
"Are you okay?" Jannah rushed to their side, her hand immediately latching on the princess’s arm and started healing her.
