Chapter 35: 35: Cornered

Sue

"Oh, yes. I was." Hugo drawled in response without missing a beat, then he stepped even closer to me, his eyes still focused on Landon. "Now, why do you give us some privacy?"

I stiffened, looking between the two of them. They looked like they were just teasing each other like friends, but I knew better after the conversation with the three Prince’s last night, and I could pick out the hardness hidden underneath their easy voice.

I was about to make an excuse about wanting to return back into the party when Landon stepped closer to me then he draped a hand over my shoulder, a smile across his lips as he scoffed.

"And why would I do such a thing?" He crooned as I stiffened even more.

Hugo let out a laugh as he stared betweem me and Landon .

"Why are you touching her, cousin?"

"Now why should I explain myself to you?" Landon shot almost immediately.

Hugo let out another soft laugh before focusing on me. "Tell me, is he forcing you to not speak up? If he’s making you uncomfortable, tell me."

After speaking, he leaned forward like he was telling me a secret. "I have as much power as him, we’re both on the same power status so you have nothing to be worried about."

My eyes widened just as the prince’s arm around my shoulders tightened, as he tugged me into his side.

"Step away from her, Hugo if you don’t want a punch to the face." Landon growled and Hugo sighed before taking a step back. His eyes were still on me and I ended up shaking my head while still struggling for a response.

"I- I’m not being forced to do anything." I forced the words out, words that tasted as bitter as lies on my tongue.

Hugo looked between Landon and I once more before nodding and taking another step back.

"I guess I’ll speak to you later." He said and I nodded, managing to wave at him before he turned around and walked away.

I let out an exhale and turned around, prepared to Landon what that was, but his hand was clamping on my wrist and I was being tugged along with him. I struggled to keep up with him and he didn’t stop working till we were standing behind a waterfall, and that’s when he let go of me and paced around a little.

"Have you already forgotten the warning we gave you just yesterday?" He asked as he stepped closer to me. So close that I could feel his hot breath on my face

"Did you forget? You were never supposed to speak to him again!" He snapped and I flinched for a moment before glancing away, my heart pounding hard and at the same time, I was struggling to covid on the topic at hand because his scent was making me feel light headed.

"I- I didn’t forget. The warning was for me to never let him touch him, and he didn’t do any of that... so I didn’t do anything wrong."

After saying those words, Landon regarded me like I just said the world’s biggest lie ever.

He grabbed my chin this time, forcing me to meet his eyes as he continued. "You let him come too close to you!" He snapped and I flinched hard.

"But he didn’t come too close," I argued and he let out a crackle, one that made shivers roll down my spine.

"I decide what’s too close and I said you let him stand too close to you." He gritted out and before I couldn’t stop myself, I was letting out a laugh.

"That’s ridiculous," I muttered and his eyes flashed with something dark, that had me quickly swallowing my laugh and the other words on my tongue.

His grip tightened on my chin and he leaned down to speak this time, so close that our nose brushed.

"Ridiculous, huh? I’ll show you what ridiculous is when I have you bent over my knees while I spank you rae." He growled in a low voice and my eyes widened in shock, my mouth falling open as I gaped at him, unable to believe my ears right now.

He was going to spank me? Like a literal child?

I spluttered, struggling for something tangible to say in response, but a foreign voice beat me to it, sounding from a few feet away.

"Landon! I’ve been looking everywhere for you and you’re out here with another woman?" A woman’s shrill voice pierced through the air, making me flinch and jolt just as Landon dropped his hand from my chin and stepped away from me.

I sucked in a deep breath, feeling like my lungs might burst from how much breath it was lacking before this very moment.

In the next second, the woman who had just arrived, stomped forward and stopped before Landon, a scowl on her face as she looked up at him. I recognized her immediately from last night, she was his betrothed.

"We should be planning our wedding now! We should be together tonight so everyone can finally start seeing us together for once. But instead, you’re out here speaking to this wretched woman!" She yelled, her hands pointing at me at the end of her sentence and I scoffed underneath my breath while rolling my eyes.

"Gina, please. Not tonight, please. Get lost." Landon snapped sharply and I flinched from the force in those words. He had never been that harsh with me despite the amount of times he has been mad at me.

"No! It has to be tonight! Didn’t you and your brothers call up this unexpected gathering to announce your wedding dates with us? Then you’re supposed to be with me in there right now!" She cried out, not knowing she was so damn wrong.

Landon let out a laugh. "Always so delusional, Gina. Just get lost, cause I’m not done here before you come to interrupt us."

This woman named Gina, looked at me like she wanted to kill me right now.
