The Dark Extra: Awakening of SSS-Skill Demon Emperor Legacy-Chapter 71: Another Reckless Adventurer
Chapter 71: Another Reckless Adventurer
Right after asking, the woman died with black blood pouring from her mouth and her eyes wide open. Agares stood beside her, still keeping his attention on the monster.
’Is this what a battle between humans and demons looks like?’ Agares wondered.
His time in this dungeon opened his eyes to the eternal war between humans and demons.
Who knew how many thousands of humans and hundreds of thousands of demons had died since the first Human-Demon War began?
That didn’t include the number of humans and demons killing each other inside dungeons. He thought someone had to break this chain of death, whether human or demon.
[DING! Congratulations, Agares! You have slain the mini boss]
[Name: Mystic Ruinbound]
[Type: Lich Mage]
[Level: 7]
[+2500exp]
[EXP: 332000/420250] [+2500]
[DING! Congratulations, Agares! You obtained dropped items]
[+10 Gold Coins]
[1x Arcane Vein Crystal]
[1x Broken Binding Sigil]
[10x Monster Core]
There was a significant difference between a mini boss and a floor boss.
Mini bosses didn’t have a Throneless Key and didn’t drop a unique boss monster core.
That’s why the items dropped looked different compared to when Agares fought the Broken Crown Marionette.
Still, they were valuable—especially the crystal he obtained. Considering the dungeon’s depth, the crystal and other dropped items were surely of higher quality.
"Is she dead?" Aoi asked. Agares nodded.
From the far side of the area, Agares saw a corridor open, leading to the next location—a sign that he had successfully defeated the ruling monster in this area.
"Alright. Let’s go."
Agares patted his magic pouch and drank three HP potions, restoring at least +3000 HP lost from the previous monster’s attack.
As for his Mana? He still had more than enough to use his four skills.
That’s right! With Agares’s current stage and his total Mana above 5000, he could actually use his ultimate skill, Nihil Severance—one he had never used before.
Even so, Agares didn’t want to be reckless. Not only did it consume much more mana, but its cooldown was also longer than the other skills.
"What kind of monster will we face next? Why has it taken longer for us to reach the floor boss room lately?" Aoi asked.
Agares smiled, walking toward the connecting corridor while stroking Aoi’s head fur.
"The deeper we go into the dungeon floors, the more monsters we’ll face."
"Be patient, Aoi. I will get the Whispering Leaf of Shrine for you."
Aoi nodded. She didn’t mind waiting for months or even years as long as she was always by Agares’s side. That was more than enough.
Agares walked through the corridor and arrived at a three-way junction. There were two paths ahead, the left and the center.
To reach the floor boss, Agares had to take the left path according to his smart navigation.
"Aoi."
"Can you help me see what’s over there?" Agares asked.
Aoi turned her gaze ahead, focusing her eyes toward the center path at the intersection.
She glanced at Agares and nodded, understanding what she needed to do.
"Sound Resonance!"
Aoi closed her eyes, and the blue patterns on her white fox fur began to glow—sign that she was using her fox nature instinct skill.
Agares saw sound waves flying into the center path, mapping the entire place to its end. Aoi took her time until she finally opened her eyes in shock.
"What is it?"
"There’s an adventurer party being slaughtered over there. They can’t escape because they’re trapped by magic."
"What?" Agares was startled.
Now, he understood what was happening. The two paths ahead led to different places—the left path to the floor boss, and the center path to a mini boss.
Normally, the next floor’s corridor only appeared after the floor boss room.
Could it be that the mini boss room on the center path was a trap? Or was something hidden there, guarded by the mini boss?
"P-Please... save them, Agares."
The man paused, conflicted after finding out what was happening ahead.
On one hand, he wanted to fight the floor boss and move on to floor 61. On the other hand, Aoi’s compassion disturbed him.
"Is it another mini boss?" Agares asked.
"Same as before—a Lich Mage."
’Sigh!’
"There better be some good items in there."
In the end, Aoi’s concern won over Agares. He delayed the floor boss fight and chose the center path, heading toward the room ruled by the mini boss.
Agares ran with Shadepiercer still held by him. The corridor was long and made him annoyed, as if it was endlessly.
Bright light shone at the end of the hallway, followed by screams and loud explosions.
Agares arrived at the scene, and sure enough, Aoi was right.
The adventurer party looked overwhelmed fighting the monster. There were five of them, and three were seriously wounded.
One priest was trying to stop their bleeding while a lancer fought alone.
That’s right! Adventurers usually formed their teams based on the divine knight teams: Lancer, Warpriest, Archer, Assassin, Priest, and Mage. However, they didn’t have a Warpriest.
Agares’s arrival caught the female priest’s attention. She looked up and saw him—tears streaming down her cheeks as she kept trying to heal her dying friends.
"Please help us... Sir." fɾēewebnσveℓ.com
Agares tapped his magic pouch and handed a Mana potion to Aoi. Aoi nodded, understanding what she had to do.
She opened the potion and drank it, effectively restoring the mana she had lost from using Sound Resonance.
Once her body regained its strength, Aoi jumped off Agares’s shoulder and approached the wounded mage with injuries on her hand and stomach.
She wrapped her tail around her hand, then her stomach after. The blue patterns on her white fur glowed, surprising the priest.
Agares swung his sword and shattered the confining dome, shocking the lancer and causing him to turn immediately. Someone had come to help.
"Thank goodness, help has arrived."
The priest gasped, watching Agares destroy the dome as if it were thin paper to his sword.
Seeing the dome broken, the priest quickly moved her friends away from the fight and focused on healing them.
"If you can’t beat it, don’t drag your friends to their deaths!"
"Is the teleportation token not usable?" Agares asked.
The lancer leapt far back, standing beside Agares with a tired face.
"No. Once the room boss fight starts, the teleport token doesn’t work."
"That makes sense."
"What’s the monster?"
"Mystic Ruinbound, level seven, dark affinity, lich mage."
"Same as before," Agares noted.
Even so, what stood before Agares was slightly different. The previous one had been a woman—this time, it was a man.
"Let me guess, are you the brother of that female lich mage back there?" Agares asked, pointing behind him.
"She’s my wife, you bastard!"
"Oh really? What a shame. Your wife was easy to defeat."
"You damn human!" the male lich mage roared.
He released a black slash of magic downward, surging toward Agares and the lancer with great force.
Agares reacted quickly, leaping and swinging his sword.
The black slash faded and had no significant impact on him. The lancer flinched, shocked at how strong the man in the black cloak truly was.
’He stopped that attack so easily?’ the lancer thought.
’Maybe he really can help me defeat that monster.’
"I’ll help you. But for now, just focus on recovering," Agares said.
"My name’s Leon, Leon Thorn."
’Thorn? Is he a family member of the Thorn Family?’ Agares wondered, surprised.
"Thorn?"
"Yeah. I’m the first son of the Noble Family of Berdiver City, the Thorn Family."
Agares smiled, refocusing on the monster lich mage in front of them who looked shocked, "Quite an unexpected coincidence, huh?"
