The Dark Extra: Awakening of SSS-Skill Demon Emperor Legacy-Chapter 79: New Team Full of Mage
Chapter 79: New Team Full of Mage
After finishing with the Augment Core and Enhance Weapon, Agares walked away, entering the corridor that connected to floor 61.
There were still many floors ahead of them—filled with monsters, traps, and countless challenges. With his rising power, Agares felt confident he could defeat every monster from floor 60 to 70.
The more monsters he defeated, the greater the chance of getting a water-affinity gem or core.
That was his goal—to trade for the Whispering Leaf of Shrine owned by Milenia.
Aoi continued to accompany Agares. No matter what hardship or ease he faced, she would remain by his side no matter what happened.
Because Agares was her master, and she was determined to be his one and only companion pet.
The dungeon corridor door lifted open, revealing a long, damp, cold, and silent hallway—no one was around.
Agares bravely stepped inside, guided by the smart navigation activated through Nyx.
A green arrow pointed straight ahead, leading him to the first crossroad on floor 61.
"What kind of monster are we facing this time?" Aoi asked.
Agares said nothing and shook his head.
"No idea. But since the dungeon theme on floor 60 was destruction, there’s a good chance we’ll be dealing with dark-affinity monsters."
"In that case, you’ll probably get more darkness-element gems to use in the Augment Core, right?"
Agares smiled. He hadn’t thought of that. However, because gems were difficult to remove once inserted, he had to be cautious when selecting them.
"You’re right."
"Maybe, once we’ve formed our pet contract, you can choose your own gem too."
"It won’t be long until we find a water-affinity gem. So don’t worry, Aoi," said Agares.
Aoi smiled, her cheeks blushing shyly, touched that Agares was willing to go through all that trouble just to obtain the Whispering Leaf of Shrine.
She knew the difficulty Agares would face—that’s why she would do her best to help him however she could.
"I’ll wait and support you, Agares."
Agares smiled back. The two of them continued walking deeper into the dungeon corridor until they reached a four-way intersection. Agares stopped and scanned the area.
Ahead of him, three other corridors branched off in different directions.
According to the smart navigation, the path to the floor boss room was the middle route.
That made Agares suspicious. The right and left corridors might lead to monster zones or mini-boss chambers.
Without smart navigation, an adventurer party might have trouble and choose the wrong path.
"Which way do we go?" Aoi asked, confused.
"Aoi,"
"Can you use your sound resonance to detect what’s in the right and left corridors?" Agares asked.
"Eh? What about the middle one?"
"That one leads to the floor boss. No need to scan it."
"I just want to know what kind of monsters are down the right and left paths."
"Alright. I’ll do it."
The blue-white fox closed her eyes tightly. The glowing patterns on her body lit up as her tails stiffened forward.
"Sound resonance!"
In a few seconds, two resonance waves shot in opposite directions. Agares remained still at the intersection, watching Aoi work hard to scan the area.
"I see... the right corridor is a dead end with a mysterious chest."
"In the left corridor, I see... a giant stone serpent, around three to four meters long."
"It could be a mini-boss."
Aoi ended her ability and collapsed, landing weakly against Agares’ right shoulder. He could feel her labored breathing—a clear sign she had exerted herself.
’Maybe she’ll be able to enhance that ability after we complete the pet contract.’
Agares gently cradled Aoi, looking at the exhausted fox’s face.
Though the foxes didn’t sweat, he could tell how tired she was from her breath and expression.
"Get some rest, Aoi."
"I’ll handle the rest."
Aoi nodded faintly. Agares tucked her safely into his shirt pocket where she could rest.
Now, Agares knew what lay in both side corridors.
If the left one had a mini-boss, it was likely guarding something. The right one had a chest, but with no guards in sight, it might be a trap.
"I should challenge the floor boss directly. Fighting the mini-boss would just drain my HP and mana."
"My potions are limited. I should save them and go straight for the boss."
With firm resolve, Agares stepped into the middle corridor leading to the floor boss room—at least, that’s what he thought, as guided by the navigation.
But he was wrong.
To reach the floor boss room, Agares first had to enter a massive stone hall—occupied by five stone serpents staring him down.
Their fangs dripped green liquid that smelled disgusting. Agares guessed it was acid.
Unlike floor bosses or mini-bosses, these types of monsters had no intelligence.
They were driven purely by primal instincts—like wild beasts.
The five serpents hissed loudly as Agares entered from the corridor into the stone chamber. He gave a faint smile. He didn’t expect he’d need to defeat them first before getting to the floor boss.
Agares unsheathed his sword and opened the system panel displaying his current buffs and debuffs from using Shadepiercer. By now, he had grown used to the system interface.
[SHADEPIERCER SWORD]
[Buff: +20% ATK || +10% DEX || +25% Physical Lifesteal || Anti-Magic]
[Debuff: -15% AGI || -20% DEF]
"Come at me. I’ll take you all on!" said Agares firmly.
And just like that, another battle against dungeon monsters began.
***
Four months later.
Midgard City.
Dungeon – Level S.
A glowing blue crystal stone stood in a corner of Midgard. Several demonkin guards turned their heads, watching who had arrived—be it city dwellers or new arrivals.
From within the portal of the crystal stone, five mages stepped out—a party composition that looked rather strange.
"Five mages? That’s... unique."
"Welcome to Midgard City."
The five mages stood frozen, jaws dropped and eyes wide in disbelief.
What the dungeon merchant on floor 50 had said was true—there was a city on floor 55, accessible only by teleportation token.
"I didn’t expect there’d be a whole city inside a dungeon."
"Neither did I."
They looked ahead, seeing two guards with red skin—clearly not human. Their party leader stepped forward and asked,
"Are you... of a different race than us?"
"Correct. We are demonkin. Judging by your reaction, this must be your first time here, yes?" the guard asked.
They nodded.
The two guards glanced at each other and nodded again, following the protocol they’d been trained to uphold.
When a party of adventurers or any group came seeking someone named Agares, they had clear instructions.
They were to escort the visitors to Milenia’s residence—only she could decide whether they were allowed to stay or not.
"Well?" the party leader asked.
"Follow me."
