The Demon King is an Idiot [BL]-Chapter 112: I’m sorry for making you wait.
"Hua Tianshu, you can be real cute sometimes, did you know that?"
"..." Hua Tianshu looked at the man with his eyes wide open in shock as he heard this and Jie Fu Lian only laughed, as if teasing the man.
"I’m sorry," Jie Fu Lian sighed as he randomly apologized, "I’m sorry for leaving like that. I know I shouldn’t have run away but... Honestly, I was a little scared."
Hua Tianshu curiously looked at the man as he heard this but didn’t say anything as a response.
Jie Fu Lian let out a short laugh, almost seeming as if he had forced himself to do so. "Actually, I’m still a little scared but it’s alright. I’m sorry for making you wait and... Thank you for waiting."
Hua Tianshu didn’t know what to say as a response to that since he felt extremely confused by these words. Jie Fu Lian had already rejected him and it didn’t sound like he was suddenly changing his mind.
Jie Fu Lian smiled as he looked at Hua Tianshu and added, "Don’t worry, I promise not to run away again. I’m going to stay by your side and I will never make you wait again."
Hua Tianshu gulped as he heard this and although he still felt confused, he knew that Jie Fu Lian was being considerate towards him and that made him feel a little happy.
"So TianTian, when this case is over, let’s travel the world together. I want to see and experience all the things that I have missed in the last eight years."
As soon as he heard the name ’TianTian’, Hua Tianshu smiled as he nodded his head.
Although he had been rejected, it didn’t seem like Jie Fu Lian was going to leave him and that in itself was a blessing for him.
"By the way, I paid you two hundred to talk. Why haven’t you said anything yet?" Jie Fu Lian questioned as he accusingly looked at the demon walking in front of them.
The demon cleared his throat as he truthfully spoke, "I didn’t want to interrupt your personal conversation."
Jie Fu Lian chuckled as he heard this, "You’re smart."
The demon pursed his lips but didn’t say anything as a response.
"We’ve been walking for quite a while now. How much further would we need to go?"
"Just a little more."
"Who are we meeting?"
The demon smiled and answered, "Someone mysterious and terrifying."
Jie Fu Lian almost laughed as he heard this response, "Do you really know him?"
"I do know him," The demon quickly replied, almost sounding a bit offended, "I met him a few years ago."
"A few years ago?" Jie Fu Lian repeated and couldn’t help but ask, "Was it the first time you met him?"
The demon gulped as he heard this question and felt a little embarrassed as he nodded his head, "That’s right. I met him twice, thirty years ago."
Jie Fu Lian and Hua Tianshu shared a look and sighed in unison.
"Mister, do you really know where we are going?"
"Of course, I know. I remember the way clearly."
Jie Fu Lian still felt a little unsure and asked, "It’s already been thirty years. How can you be sure?"
"I’m sure," The demon firmly spoke, slightly raising his voice.
Jie Fu Lian frowned but said nothing more.
"When I met him, I thought he was a useless madman. He was constantly going on and on about finding the right heir for the cultivation manual that he had created. Back then, a person like immortal Jie Fu Lian hadn’t even been born yet. Many thought that the art of controlling spirits technique was lost forever."
The demon sighed as he remembered those days and continued, "There were some who believed that they could just create it again but almost all of them failed. That is, everyone except for that man failed. He had been studying spirits for more than two hundred years and could even summon a few powerless spirits. He created the dark art of summoning spirits but never practiced it himself. He was fixated on finding an heir who would practice the dark art of summoning spirits and become the new spirit master."
"Why did he need an heir? Could he not have practiced it himself?"
The demon laughed as he heard this question and shook his head as he spoke, "It was impossible for him to practice it. He was a selfish man and practicing the dark art of summoning spirits was dangerous. He wanted to test it out first. To be accurate, the one he was looking for wasn’t an heir, it was a sacrifice. A sacrifice who would get to demonstrate the true powers and dangers of what the man had managed to create."
"Did he find it?" Jie Fu Lian raised his eyebrow as he asked, "The sacrificial heir?"
The demon thinly smiled as he heard this question and nodded his head, "He found him."
Jie Fu Lian’s eyes lightly widened as he heard this.
"Who was it?" Hua Tianshu quickly asked.
The demon shrugged his shoulder as he spoke, "I do not know."
Jie Fu Lian frowned.
"But I did see him once," The demon revealed as he suddenly shook his head, "I really wish I hadn’t."
"Huh?"
"If you practice the art of controlling spirits, you can at least control the spirits that you summon. You’ll be their master and they’ll unconditionally listen to everything you say. However, if you practice the dark art of summoning spirits, the spirit you summon would be your master and you’ll be their slave. They’ll control your every movement and take over your life. If you choose to disobey, even death would seem like a blessing to you."
The demon paused and took a deep breath in before he continued with a sigh, "That poor boy had mastered the dark art of summoning spirits and in turn, he became a slave to those terrifying spirits. Sometimes, I feel pity for him, but then, I remember the time when I saw him killing those spirits and I no longer know whom to feel pity for."
Jie Fu Lian tilted his head in confusion as he heard this and questioned, "Killing spirits? What are you talking about?"
"Have you heard of the ancient tale of the four demon lords?"
Jie Fu Lian shook his head.
"It is said that more than ten thousand years ago, all land was ruled by the four great demon lords. They were powerful and ruthless. Anyone who went against them was immediately killed. Their rule was one that left almost no witnesses. They are the reason why we are left with no traces of the demon king Shen Fang’s past."
"Isn’t that just a rumor?" Hua Tianshu asked as he raised an eyebrow.
The demon scoffed, "Some rumors are based on facts that people want to erase and forget."
"Facts?" Hua Tianshu repeated with a sarcastic thin smile, "Last time I heard this story, it ended with the demon king Shen Fang killing all four of the great demon lords and taking control of the entire demon realm as its sole ruler."
The demon nodded his head, "This story also ends that way. However, there is also a continuation."
"A continuation?"
"The great supreme demon venerable Shen Fang killed the four great demon lords and became the new ruler of the land. From that day onwards, a lot of things changed. Although the new demon king was also ruthless and cruel, he was still much better than the four great demon lords. For a long time, it was believed that we would no longer need to be worrying about the four great demon lords and because of this, everyone felt grateful towards the demon king Shen Fang."
Shen Fang had lived and ruled for more than a thousand years and his origins had been erased with time so of course, this story was nothing more than a verbal tale passed down from generation to generation. There was absolutely no evidence left to support this story, but Jie Fu Lian still felt as if there was a possibility of it being true.
"Using the dark art of summoning spirits, the boy summoned one of those four great demon lords," The demon shivered a little as he continued, "And then he killed the spirit that he had summoned."
Jie Fu Lian was a bit stunned as he heard this new twist. For a few seconds, he didn’t know whether he wanted to laugh or not.
"One of the great four demon lords, feared by all... Was killed by a mere boy...?" Jie Fu Lian felt extremely skeptical as he asked.
"The demon lord was a freshly summoned spirit. He was weak and had yet to fully restore his powers. He tried to control the boy but the boy soon grew tired of being a slave. However, you are right. It should have been impossible for the boy to kill him that easily." The demon’s eyebrows creased together and he still looked to be a little terrified as he recalled the memory, "That little boy was an absolute monster. He refused to obey the spirit and when the spirit tried to punish him, he cut the spirit into pieces and killed it without even blinking an eye."
Jie Fu Lian couldn’t help but gulp in worry as he heard this.
