"What if we don’t catch him?" Jie Fu Lian teasingly questioned, "What if my name can’t be cleared and I’m once again the evil man who must be killed?"
Hua Tianshu lightly chuckled as he heard this question and replied, "Then together we’ll run away to the demon realm. I’ll make sure to protect you for the rest of your life. I’ll never let you go through the same pain again. I would not let you be wronged."
Jie Fu Lian’s lips curled up into a warm smile and he muttered out without thinking, "Hua Tianshu, sometimes you make me want to kiss you."
"..." Hua Tianshu’s eyes widened and his body stiffened in shock.
He was certainly not the only one shocked. Even Jie Fu Lian was stunned at the words that he had impulsively spouted out.
"Because you are my best friend!" Jie Fu Lian panicked a little as he exclaimed, trying to defend himself, "You make me feel at ease and I love it. That’s it. There is nothing more to it. Don’t overthink it."
Jie Fu Lian was still in the process of getting his revenge against Hua Tianshu so he couldn’t just confess his feelings.
As Hua Tianshu saw the flustered expression on the man’s face and listened to his hurried muttering, he softly smiled as he spoke, "Don’t worry. I didn’t overthink."
Jie Fu Lian suddenly frowned as he heard this response and complained in his mind, ’Why...?! How can you not overthink when you like me...?’
Hua Tianshu cleared his throat as he leaned in closer to Jie Fu Lian’s ear and whispered, "Since we are just friends."
"..."
This was cheating...!
"Let’s go!" Hua Tianshu stepped back as he exclaimed, looking completely composed, the total opposite of Jie Fu Lian who was blushing all the way down to his neck.
"W-Where are we going?"
"Don’t you want to catch that rat who ran away?" Hua Tianshu raised an eyebrow as he asked.
Jie Fu Lian gulped and gave a nod as he spoke, "Let’s go then. Why are you wasting time?"
Pushing Hua Tianshu aside, Jie Fu Lian started walking forward, leaving Hua Tianshu to chuckle behind his back.
After walking for about ten minutes, Jie Fu Lian suddenly came to a stop and asked, "So where are we going to look for him?"
"I don’t know," Hua Tianshu shrugged his shoulders as he spoke, "But I might know someone who does."
When Jie Fu Lian heard the latter sentence, he slightly frowned as he wondered who it could be.
"The book," Hua Tianshu spoke as he looked at Jie Fu Lian.
Jie Fu Lian cluelessly tilted his head as he asked, "What book?"
"The empty book that Heaven’s eye gave us."
"Huh?" Jie Fu Lian frowned as he questioned, "Why would you need that?"
"I think I know how to use it now."
Jie Fu Lian didn’t quite understand what Hua Tianshu was planning to do but he still obediently took the book out of his spatial ring and handed it over to Hua Tianshu.
Hua Tianshu opened the book and as expected, it was still empty.
"Can you send your demonic Qi into this book?" Hua Tianshu looked at Jie Fu Lian expectantly as he asked.
"I can try," Jie Fu Lian replied with a nod. In the very next moment, he closed his eyes and held his hand over the book as he transferred a little bit of his demonic Qi into the book.
When he opened his eyes and looked, he was disappointed to see the blank pages that remained unchanged.
"Now pour spiritual energy into it," Hua Tianshu instructed and once again, Jie Fu Lian nodded his head as he did exactly what was asked.
However, once again, the pages remained blank, showing that they had wasted their efforts.
Hua Tianshu sighed as he saw this and spoke, "How about blood?"
Jie Fu Lian’s eyebrows creased together as he heard this and without thinking it through, he bit his thumb till it bled and let the blood drops fall onto the pages.
Once again, it looked as if their efforts had been wasted since nothing changed. However, they were not disappointed for long as the book finally gave them a reaction.
The blood drops staining the blank pages started spreading around in an odd way and in just a few seconds, the blood drops twisted and turned themselves in order to spell something on the pages of the book.
Jie Fu Lian’s eyes immediately widened in surprise and he happily exclaimed, "It worked!"
Hua Tianshu also smiled as he heard this and nodded his head.
"But what does this mean? Is the book talking to us?" Jie Fu Lian questioned as he pointed at the words spelled out on the page.
On the pages, written in blood were the words: Finally figured it out?
"The book isn’t talking," Hua Tianshu spoke as he explained, "The owner of the book is talking to us."
"The owner?" Jie Fu Lian frowned as he repeated, "Heaven’s eye...?!"
Hua Tianshu gave a nod as he confirmed it.
Jie Fu Lian immediately understood what Hua Tianshu was planning on doing and he couldn’t help but be a little confused as he wondered if he was supposed to be impressed by Hua Tianshu’s quick thinking or feel worried for the man.
They weren’t even sure if Heaven’s eye could be considered a friend or a foe. To ask for his help would certainly be shameless...!
Hua Tianshu flipped a page and spoke to the book as he asked, "Where did Jin Long go?"
The page remained blank and there was no response from the book.
Jie Fu Lian sighed as he once again bit his thumb and let his blood drops trickle down onto the pages.
As soon as the blood stained the blank pages, the blood droplets twisted and flowed around the page to form the words: The place where you died.
Hua Tianshu’s eyebrows creased together and he felt extremely unhappy as he read this answer.
"The abyss...?" Jie Fu Lian questioned, feeling a little hesitant.
The blood on the pages once again twisted and curled as it spelled the words: The cliff above the abyss.
Jie Fu Lian frowned as he read these words and immediately questioned, "Why would he go there?"
Hua Tianshu took a sharp breath in and immediately closed the book as he spoke, "Jie Ming, go to the HuiXue sect for the time being."
"Huh?"
"It’s a trap," Hua Tianshu spoke as he looked at the man, "Jin Long is trying to kill you again at the same place where he first killed you."
Jie Fu Lian’s facial expression stiffened as he heard this and he immediately defended Jin Long as he spoke, "We don’t know that yet. He might not be the culprit."
"Jie Ming, did you not hear him?" 𝕗𝐫𝐞𝕖𝕨𝐞𝗯𝚗𝕠𝘃𝐞𝚕.𝐜𝗼𝚖
Jie Fu Lian gritted his teeth as he spoke, "I don’t know what I heard. I will wait till I get an explanation out of him."
"Jie Ming, I do not want to argue with you on this," Hua Tianshu spoke with a sigh, "I do not want to lose you again. Please go to the HuiXue sect and wait for me. I’ll deal with them and come back soon."
Jie Fu Lian’s frown deepened as he heard this and he firmly spoke, "I can’t do that."
Hua Tianshu stared at the man angrily as he heard this.
"Hua Tianshu, Just because I want to listen to his reasoning doesn’t mean I trust him. I will not be reckless. I am not the same Jie Fu Lian that I was. I am now the demon king. Killing me wouldn’t be easy this time."
"But I’m afraid," Hua Tianshu replied, looking at the man with eyes that clearly conveyed his emotions, "I don’t want to put you in a dangerous position. Jie Ming, please go back to the HuiXue sect and wait for me there."
Jie Fu Lian pursed his lips tightly and stubbornly shook his head, "If you are afraid, so am I. Just like how you don’t want to lose me, I also do not wish to lose you. Hua Tianshu, I don’t want to put you in any type of danger. Especially one that is caused by me."
The two looked at each other with determination and neither stepped down.
In the end, Hua Tianshu was forced to take Jie Fu Lian along with him.
"Where are you two going?" A female voice called after them and Jie Fu Lian immediately recognized the annoying owner of the voice.
Ren Lei walked up to the two and asked, "Did you find him?"
"We found him," Jie Fu Lian gave a nod as he replied, "But we also lost him so now we’ll have to catch him again."
"If you weren’t so busy flirting, perhaps you’d have arrested him," Ren Lei sneered.
Jie Fu Lian’s eyes narrowed down on the girl as he questioned, "Were you eavesdropping on us? Since when?"
"I was only guessing. Am I right?"
