Ren Lei walked up to the two and asked, "Did you find him?"
"We found him," Jie Fu Lian gave a nod as he replied, "But we also lost him so now we’ll have to catch him again."
"If you weren’t so busy flirting, perhaps you’d have arrested him," Ren Lei sneered.
Jie Fu Lian’s eyes narrowed down on the girl as he questioned, "Were you eavesdropping on us? Since when?"
"I was only guessing. Am I right?"
"..."
"Let me join you."
"Where did Elder Ren go?"
"I don’t know," Ren Lei shrugged her shoulders as she casually responded, "She went missing."
Jie Fu Lian frowned as he heard this but did not bother thinking too much about it.
"Where are we going?" Ren Lei asked, raising an eyebrow, "I hope you know where he went."
"Just follow us," Jie Fu Lian replied, without bothering to explain anything.
Ren Lei, who was only here because of Elder Tai Ho’s order, did not feel interested to ask any further and simply nodded her head in understanding.
While the two were talking, Hua Tianshu sent a message back to the HuiXue sect, telling Sect Master Quan to bring people and gather at the cliff behind the abyss. Just like Jie Fu Lian, he also did not bother explaining things in detail.
Soon enough, Duan Luoyang and Shen Chao also joined them but Elder Ren was still missing. Since they had no time to worry about that woman, they decided to leave without her.
On the way to the cliff, the blank book that Hua Tianshu was holding suddenly started shaking a little and Jie Fu Lian was the first to notice it.
"Is it trying to say something?" Jie Fu Lian’s eyebrows creased together as he questioned, pointing at the book.
Hua Tianshu did not give a verbal response to that and simply opened the book as he looked at the blank pages that suddenly had a few words printed on them with red blood.
The words read: I’ll be assisting.
Jie Fu Lian frowned as he read out the words and immediately looked at Hua Tianshu as he questioned, "Is heaven’s eye trying to help us...?"
Hua Tianshu also felt a little confused as to who Heaven’s eye really was and why the man was going this far to help them, but at the end of the day, since the man was proving to be helpful, Hua Tianshu decided to make full use of him.
"If he wants to help, let him help."
Jie Fu Lian pursed his lips together as he heard this and although he did not agree with Hua Tianshu, he didn’t voice out his thoughts.
Duan Luoyang also took a peek at the page and curiously asked, "Assisting? What does that mean? Shizun, is there someone else working with us on this case?"
Hua Tianshu took a sharp breath in as he closed the book and spoke, "Heaven’s eye wants to help us catch Jin Long. He’ll be assisting us. As to what he’d do... Even I’m not that clear on it."
Duan Luoyang’s eyebrows immediately creased together as he heard this and he frowned as he questioned, "Why is he helping us...?!"
Hua Tianshu did not give an immediate response to this, instead, he started seriously thinking about it for a minute.
"He might also have a personal grudge against Jin Long," Jie Fu Lian guessed as he spoke, "He wants to use us to catch Jin Long and the master of curses."
Shen Chao nodded his head as he heard this and without thinking, spouted out, "Of course, he wants to catch him. After all, Jin Long killed immortal Jie Fu Lian, did he not?"
"Huh?" Jie Fu Lian’s eyebrows creased together in confusion and he immediately looked at the man as he asked, "What do you mean?"
Shen Chao’s eyes widened a little and he stepped back in surprise as he asked, "You didn’t know?"
Jie Fu Lian’s expression looked a little too intimidating as he heard this question and Shen Chao couldn’t help but feel a little terrified as he spoke, "Heaven’s eyes used to know you."
Jie Fu Lian looked to be even more confused as he heard this and Shen Chao immediately covered his mouth with his hands, acting as if he had said something that should not have been said.
Jie Fu Lian immediately grabbed the man’s neck and choked him as he questioned, "Speak clearly. What do you know?"
Shen Chao’s face turned red as his blood flow slowly got cut off at his neck. With desperation, he grabbed Jie Fu Lian’s hand and struggled to make it lose as he somehow shouted out, "I-I’ll speak! I’ll speak!"
Jie Fu Lian loosened his hold around the man’s neck and the man glanced around first before he gestured for Jie Fu Lian to lean in closer before he spoke in a whispering tone, "I know who you are."
"..." Jie Fu Lian was sure that the man did not know his real identity so he wondered what the man was spouting on about.
"You are the demon king, are you not?"
Jie Fu Lian side-glanced at the man without saying anything. Even his expression remained unchanged and Shen Chao felt a shiver run down his spine as he immediately added, "I won’t tell anyone else! I promise!"
"Just answer the question that I asked," Jie Fu Lian firmly replied, threatening the man with his deep voice.
Shen Chao gulped in fear as he heard this and bobbed his head up and down in understanding as he spoke, "I-I heard you talking. When you met Heaven’s eye. That’s why I know."
Jie Fu Lian raised an eyebrow but said nothing as a response and the man continued.
"Heaven’s eye knows immortal Jie Fu Lian, does he not? You are not the only one trying to avenge your nephew, he is also working with you. I know it."
"How did you hear us?" Jie Fu Lian strictly questioned.
Shen Chao once again gulped as he spoke, "I wasn’t meaning to eavesdrop. I was only trying to steal some red beads."
"Red beads?"
Shen Chao frantically nodded his head as he spoke, "Blood red beads. They sell for quite a lot so there are sometimes people who dare to enter the demon realm in order to steal them."
Jie Fu Lian was already quite familiar with the blood red beads that the man mentioned, however, he found it hard to believe that a coward like Shen Chao would dare to enter the demon realm and risk his life in order to steal them.
"So you must have seen him?" Jie Fu Lian questioned, his eyes narrowing down on the man dangerously, "Heaven’s eye. You know who he is, don’t you?"
"I-I don’t know...!" Shen Chao stuttered out as a reply.
Suddenly, Duan Luoyang held Jie Fu Lian’s hand and stopped him as he spoke, "Uncle Fu, let him go. He’s just a stupid demonic cultivator that I picked up along the way. He has a hobby of spouting nonsense. Don’t take his words seriously."
Jie Fu Lian glared at Duan Luoyang in response and Duan Luoyang kept a stern expression on his face, looking completely unfazed by Jie Fu Lian’s glare.
"Let him go," Duan Luoyang firmly spoke once again and this time, Jie Fu Lian retreated his hand and let the demonic cultivator go.
Shen Chao immediately grabbed at Duan Luoyang and hid behind the man in fear as he complained, "Your Uncle Fu is so scary!"
Jie Fu Lian glanced at Shen Chao and then looked back at Duan Luoyang as he spoke, "He is not as stupid as you think."
This Shen Chao knew what the real demon king looked like and that in itself was something extraordinary. There was no way this man was just an idiot who liked to spout nonsense. If anything, he was a cunning fox who had already trapped Duan Luoyang with his seemingly innocent words.
Duan Luoyang did not take Jie Fu Lian’s words too seriously. When he looked at Shen Chao, all he saw was a coward who had a loud mouth but no backing bone. How could he ever suspect this idiot...?
Soon, the five people reached the cliff behind the abyss and there, Jie Fu Lian saw Jin Long who was patiently waiting for him with a wooden sword in hand.
When Jin Long saw the man, he smiled as he stood up and spoke, "Brother Ming, It’s been so long since we last met. How have you been?"
When Jie Fu Lian heard the man’s shameless words, he couldn’t even sneer at it.
"If you hadn’t killed me, perhaps I would’ve been able to enjoy the last eight years."
Jin Long chuckled as he heard this and nodded his head in agreement.
Duan Luoyang immediately frowned, not understanding this conversation at all. As the conversation between the two continued, a sudden thought emerged in his head and Duan Luoyang was left in shock and denial as he looked at Jie Fu Lian with his eyes almost bulging out.
