The Demon King is an Idiot [BL]-Chapter 141: Eight years ago
Eight years ago,
In the Yan Sect.
"Jie Ming, I think you should stop going out," Yin Ru spoke with a thin smile, trying to be as polite as she could.
The worry in her eyes was hard not to notice and with just a glance, one would be able to tell that there was a lot that the woman wanted to stay but could not say.
"I even saved the king of demonic beasts this time," Jie Fu Lian proudly boasted as he asked, "Why would I stop going out?"
Yin Ru couldn’t help but blink as she pursed her lips and looked at the man with a mixture of emotions.
On one hand, she was overjoyed to know that Jie Fu Lian was trying so hard to help people but on the other hand, she was also extremely worried because of the rumors that had begun to spread. Although Jie Fu Lian was always trying to help, somehow more trouble would be caused and instead of being thankful for his help, people started blaming him for everything.
Since Jie Fu Lian hardly cared for rumors, he was neither worried nor affected, but Yin Ru was older than him and she understood the dangers of rumors so she couldn’t help but worry about him. Even when she looked at his careless expression and heard his reassuring words, she couldn’t help but have a bad feeling in her stomach.
"Senior Martial Sister, this time I can definitely surpass Hua Tianshu!" Jie Fu Lian happily exclaimed and Yin Ru hesitated to break the man’s delusions.
"Jie Ming, you are already more famous than Hua Tianshu," Yin Ru sighed as she tried to use a softer method to stop her junior martial brother, "It’s better if you stop going out for now. I’m sure Hua Tianshu is already feeling threatened by your sudden rise in fame. You have already surpassed him in cultivation so why not stay silent for a while and let him feel relieved? Give him some hope and later, you can completely crush that hope. If you do that, I’m sure he’ll never forget you."
If there was anyone in the world who knew Jie Fu Lian better than he knew himself, it was Yin Ru. She had looked after him ever since he was a little child. She could easily see through Jie Fu Lian’s every action and had already guessed that this man was deeply in love with Hua Tianshu and only went around causing trouble to catch Hua Tianshu’s attention.
However, if she straightforwardly revealed this, he would be angered since he hadn’t yet realized his own feelings.
She knew him the best and so, she also knew exactly what to say in order to gain his attention and make him listen.
As expected, Jie Fu Lian grinned as he expectantly looked at Yin Ru and asked, "Really? Should I give him a little hope before I completely crush him?"
Yin Ru gave a fake smile as she nodded her head.
She felt that her Junior Martial Brother was a bit dumb, but he didn’t have any evil in his heart.
"Then I’ll listen to Senior Martial Sister Yin!" Jie Fu Lian happily exclaimed.
For a second there, Yin Ru felt a sense of relief.
Unfortunately, that sense of relief did not last for long.
Suddenly, the door burst open as Xian Huan entered the room without knocking. He was huffing and covered in sweat. With just a glance at his face, it could be guessed that he had urgently run all the way here.
"What happened?" Yin Ru asked with a small frown.
Xian Huan first glanced at Jie Fu Lian and then turned to look at Yin Ru as he hesitantly spoke, "B-Brother Jie Ming... The sect master is looking for Brother Jie Ming."
Yin Ru’s frown deepened as she heard this answer.
Jie Fu Lian innocently pointed at himself as he asked, "Me...?"
Xian Huan nodded his head.
"Why?" Jie Fu Lian’s eyebrows creased together and he also felt confused as he looked back at Xian Huan’s pale face. 𝕗𝕣𝐞𝐞𝘄𝐞𝚋𝚗𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗹.𝚌𝕠𝚖
Xian Huan looked at Jie Fu Lian with a serious expression on his face and although it looked like he had a lot to say, he only said a single sentence, "You’ll find out when you get there."
Since the Sect Master was his father, it was quite normal for him to call Jie Fu Lian, however, Xian Huan’s worried expression and the way he had urgently run all the way here in search of Jie Fu Lian made the situation feel a bit tense and Jie Fu Lian immediately wondered what he had done wrong.
Eventually, Jie Fu Lian followed Xian Huan and went to meet his father. Yin Ru who was worried for him also joined him.
When they got to meet Jie Yang Zan, the first thing they noticed was the thousands of gold coins that were carelessly placed on the table in front of the man.
As Jie Fu Lian saw the money, he frowned but did not question it straight away. Instead, he looked at his father as he politely spoke up, "Father, did you call for me?"
Jie Yang Zan looked back at Jie Fu Lian with an indecipherable expression and sighed as he spoke, "Jie Ming, take this money and leave the Yan sect."
Jie Fu Lian’s eyebrows creased together as he heard this and for a second there, he was so shocked that he could not even properly respond to his father.
"Sect Master, what do you mean...?!" It was Yin Ru who had spoken up first. Her face was a little pale and she looked at Jie Yang Zan in disbelief.
Jie Yang Zan pursed his lips and looked down at the ground as he spoke, "I am doing what is best for him. If he stays here any longer, he’ll be in danger."
"F-Father, what are you talking about...?" Jie Fu Lian stuttered out with tears brimming in his eyes.
"Jie Ming, Listen to me and take this money," Jie Yang Zan sternly spoke as he looked at his son, "It would be enough for you to peacefully survive for the rest of your life."
"Father... I don’t understand..." Jie Fu Lian dropped down to his knees as he immediately apologized, almost looking as if he were begging the man for forgiveness, "Father, I’m sorry. If there is something that I’ve done wrong, I’ll apologize for it. I’m extremely sorry. P-Please forgive me. Please don’t throw me away."
Jie Yang Zan bit his lip as he looked at Jie Fu Lian’s heartbroken expression.
"Jie Ming, you’ve done nothing wrong."
"Then why...?"
"It’s not your fault," Jie Yang Zan muttered with a sigh, "It’s not your fault so don’t blame yourself. I can’t tell you anything yet but for now, take this money and run away. Save yourself."
Jie Fu Lian gritted his teeth as he heard this and for the first time in his life, he felt as if his father was being unreasonable with him.
"Sect Master, what are you trying to do...?!" Yin Ru stepped in between as she shouted, "What do you mean? Why are you making him leave?!"
The moment she saw tears staining Jie Fu Lian’s face, Yin Ru couldn’t help but lose control of her emotions and started crying along with the man.
"Sect Master, how can you say something like that?!" Yin Ru shouted as she glared at Jie Yang Zan, "He’s your son! How can you abandon your son like this?!"
"Yin Ru, this has nothing to do with you," Jie Yang Zan firmly spoke as he stared at the woman with an unreluctant gaze.
"This has everything to do with me! I am his senior martial sister! I have looked after him ever since he was a mere infant! How can you say it has nothing to do with me?! If he leaves, so will I...!"
Jie Yang Zan pursed his lips into a thin line as he heard this and seriously pondered over something for a minute before he spoke, "An investigation has been started against him. At the end of this investigation, he would definitely be proven guilty and when that happens, we’ll have to be the ones to take his life with our own hands."
Yin Ru’s eyes widened in shock and she faltered a step back in fear as she heard this.
"Yin Ru, do you want to personally kill the child that you have looked after for so long?"
Yin Ru gulped as she heard this question and for a second there, she panicked, not knowing what to do.
"W-Why would I be proven guilty? I did nothing wrong!" Jie Fu Lian desperately tried to defend himself as he shouted.
"Jie Ming, you are right. You did nothing wrong," Jie Yang Zan sighed as he spoke, "I am the one who was wrong."
"Eh?"
"I should have never brought you here. I should have never raised you like this."
Jie Fu Lian felt his heart ache as he heard these words. He didn’t know what he had done wrong and he couldn’t help but feel as if he was being abandoned.
