The Demon King is an Idiot [BL]-Chapter 146: We’ll prove his innocence
"I like the offer but I’ll still reject it. I do not want to become a burden to someone I hardly know," Jie Fu Lian let out a soft sigh as he spoke, "Unfortunately, I am not the type to run away when things get hard for me. If there is something I did wrong, I’ll own up to it and face the punishment, but if I’m innocent, I’ll stand my ground and defend myself. It doesn’t matter who I’m fighting against. Even if I can’t win on my own, I would still not run away like a coward."
Wei Hua sighed as he heard this and nodded his head in understanding, "You are quite admirable. Just make sure not to get yourself in danger."
"I can’t really make that promise. I think I was born under an unlucky star. Even when I don’t mean to, I always end up getting involved in dangerous situations."
"Then make sure that you do not face such dangerous situations alone," Wei Hua sighed as he spoke, "Daoist Fu, there is no need for you to be alone all the time. When things get too dangerous, it’s okay to step back and rely on someone else."
Jie Fu Lian let out a soft chuckle as he heard this, "You’re talking as if you’ve known me for years."
"What’s wrong with that? When I look at you, I feel like I’ve known you for years."
Jie Fu Lian gulped but said nothing as a response.
"I think it’s time for me to go now," Wei Hua sighed as he stood up and spoke.
"Didn’t you say you were going to keep me company for a few more days?"
"I did say that but it seems like you are a very stubborn person."
"Huh?"
Wei Hua smiled as he spoke, "There is something that I urgently need to do."
Jie Fu Lian slightly frowned as he heard this and looked to be unhappy.
"We’ll surely meet again and when we do, perhaps we could once again sit down and comfortably talk like this. Till then, I hope you take care of yourself. Even if you are brave, there are times when it’s okay to be a little afraid and when that happens, I hope you can remember my words: You are never alone."
Jie Fu Lian gulped as he heard this and gave a nod.
Only when Wei Hua left did Jie Fu Lian realize how truly odd their conversation was.
Once outside the inn, Wei Hua changed back to his original appearance and used a voice transmission talisman to contact his sister, Hua Meifang.
"We’ll prove his innocence."
"Hua Tianshu, you should come back first. Things have gotten worse."
"What are you talking about?"
"Jie Fu Lian... Might be the demon king’s nephew."
"What do you mean...?!"
"Come back first and we’ll talk."
Hua Tianshu frowned as he heard his sister’s words and glanced back at the inn as he seriously thought about something.
"It would have been better if you were the type to run away..." Hua Tianshu muttered under his breath.
At the very next moment, Hua Tianshu burned a transportation talisman and disappeared into thin air.
When he reached the HuiXue sect, a group of HuiXue sect disciples were already waiting for him and Hua Meifang was also one of them.
"What’s happening?" Hua Tianshu immediately questioned with a frown.
"I already got permission from Sect Master Quan," Hua Miefang firmly spoke as she informed, "We’ll need to head out first. There is someone we need to meet."
"Who?" Hua Tianshu’s eyebrows creased together as he questioned.
Hua Meifang handed over a piece of folded paper to Hua Tianshu as she spoke, "I just received this."
Hua Tianshu gulped as he took the folded piece of paper and asked, "Who sent it?"
"I don’t know but we need to find out."
Hua Tianshu felt a little confused as he heard this and quickly unfolded the piece of paper and read the words written inside that were probably meant for him.
’A half-demon who shares the same blood as the demon king... His mere existence is a danger to our world so how can he ever be considered innocent? Why are you even trying to save such a person? Just give up. It’s his fate to die like this.’
Hua Tianshu gritted his teeth and immediately tore up the piece of paper in anger.
With a serious expression, Hua Meifang spoke, "Somebody is targeting him."
Hua Tianshu helplessly clenched his fist but said nothing.
"We must find him as soon as possible."
"This case isn’t as simple as it seems," Hua Tianshu gritted out as he spoke, "Someone is trying to kill him. We must first ensure his safety."
Hua Meifang nodded her head as she agreed.
"We’ll have someone trail him. As soon as there is trouble, we’ll be informed," Hua Miefang spoke, already having made all necessary preparations, "You do not need to worry about him. For now, let’s look for the one who sent this message."
Hua Tianshu nodded his head as he agreed with the plan and along with the other HuiXue sect disciples, the two headed out in search of the one who had sent them this letter.
By the end of the week, they were able to find a hint and traced it back to the place where the letter had been sent from but when they got ready to go there, Hua Meifang suddenly heard back news from the one who was assigned to trail Jie Fu Lian.
"They have caught him," Hua Meifang frowned as she spoke.
"What?"
"It’s Jie Fu Lian... He was trapped."
Hua Tianshu immediately frowned as he heard this and his eyebrows dangerously creased together as he questioned, "What do you mean?"
Hua Meifang gulped, feeling worried and a little afraid as she looked at the scary expression on her brother’s face, "The Jin Sect is suddenly acting up. They joined hands with the other sects and now... They are going to arrest Jie Fu Lian."
"The investigation is still ongoing!" Hua Tianshu shouted.
Hua Meifang nodded her head with a frown as she spoke, "I don’t think they care about the investigation. If Jie Fu Lian really is a half-demon then... I’m afraid there is no need for an investigation. They can justify their actions."
"Nonsense! Where are they right now?!"
"The cliff behind the abyss."
As soon as Hua Tianshu heard this, he did not even bother giving a response as he immediately rushed off to save Jie Fu Lian.
Hua Meifang also wanted to follow her brother but in the end, she decided to keep following the trail that they had found. She was afraid that if she also turned around, they might never be able to find the one who sent them the letter.

"Jie Fu Lian! Surrender now! There is no way out for you!"
"It wasn’t me..." Jie Fu Lian muttered as he looked down at the ground.
"How shameless!" Someone shouted.
"It doesn’t matter how much you pretend. We already know everything. Jie Fu Lian, you are a half-demon who tricked us all!" Jin Gengxin shouted accusingly.
"I am not!"
"Then prove it!" Jin Gengxin sneered as he spoke, "If you aren’t a half-demon, explain why you can practice the art of controlling spirits."
"I am innocent," Jie Fu Lian defended himself and turned his head to look at his father as he asked, "Why won’t you believe me?"
Jie Yang Zan immediately looked away without saying anything.
"Fine! If you say you are innocent then for a moment, let us believe that you are innocent. Jie Fu Lian, if you are innocent, who killed Bai LiuXian?"
"I don’t even know who that is!" Jie Fu Lian frowned as he spoke, looking genuinely confused as he heard the name.
"Okay, so you don’t know Bai LiuXian. He must have been killed by someone else who pretended to be you," Jin Gengxin sighed as he spoke, "In that case, what about the Ren clan?"
"Huh?" Jie Fu Lian looked to be even more confused as he heard this name, "The what clan?"
Jin Gengxin clicked his tongue in annoyance as he spoke, "The Ren clan. It was a small clan situated near the phoenix mountains. It had about a few hundred members and you killed them all in cold blood. In a single day, you annihilated the Ren clan, leaving no survivors, and even burned the remains in order to hide what you had done. Did you think nobody would find out?"
Jie Fu Lian felt a little speechless as he heard this. For a second, he wondered if he was supposed to feel flattered that these people actually believed him to be this strong.
"I do not even know who you are talking about," Jie Fu Lian honestly spoke.
"Okay," Jin Gengxin gritted his teeth and nodded his head as he spoke, "Then let’s say that was also done by someone else who wanted to frame you. What about the proof that we have received of you contacting the demon king?"
"The demon king?" Jie Fu Lian repeated.
At this point, he felt as if this whole conversation was just ridiculous.
