The Demon King is an Idiot [BL]-Chapter 173: It’s Duan Luoyang
"So what were you waiting for?"
"You," Yu Wei replied, looking straight back at Jie Fu Lian as she spoke, "Even after destroying the entire Yan Sect, fate did not change and it was said that you’d come back to destroy the Jin Sect and kill Jin Long. I believed in that future and I was waiting for you to come back."
Jie Fu Lian felt a little speechless as he heard this. All of it sounded a bit too ridiculous to be true. He did not believe in people who claimed to be able to foresee the future. In fact, something like fate, for him, was ever-changing and could not be foretold by anyone.
"So the reason why you changed your mind was because of her...?’ Hua Tianshu pointed at Yu Wei as he asked and Jin Shifeng nodded her head without any hesitation as she confirmed it.
"She came to me and revealed her identity. At first, I was also confused like you, but I wasn’t mad at her. In fact, I was glad. She had done what she needed to do and in the end, she had managed to survive. That was all that mattered to me."
"..."
Hua Tianshu understood her well since he had also been in the same position once when Jie Fu Lian returned, possessing the demon king’s body.
"I still don’t understand," Jie Fu Lian sighed as he shook his head, looking as if this was giving him a headache, "Why did you not say anything when we went to the Yu Sect and met you? If you were waiting for me, you should have known, right?"
"I failed to recognize you at first but you are right, in the end, I did manage to put the pieces together and had the chance to tell you the truth but I didn’t think it was the appropriate time for me to speak. Sect Master Yao has a lot of eyes and ears inside the Yu Sect. Anything and everything I say in there would have reached her ears so I was simply helpless. However, I did try to reach out to you."
"Reach out?" Hua Tianshu repeated, feeling confused.
Yu Wei nodded her head as she confirmed it and spoke, "I gave you the mask, did I not?"
When the two men thought about it, they indeed remembered the woman giving them a peculiar mask that looked quite useless.
"I told you to use it if you were ever in a dangerous situation."
"But you never told us what it was for," Jie Fu Lian pointed out, feeling a little wronged, "We thought it was useless and by the end, it even disappeared. We naturally believed that Sect Master Yao had taken it."
"Sect Master Yao did take it," Yu Wei sighed as she spoke, "And it almost got me in trouble, but I somehow managed to break the mask before she found out what it was."
"What was it?" Hua Tianshu asked, feeling quite curious.
"It was infused with a message and a summoning talisman. As soon as it was worn, the message would be heard and I would be summoned."
"That’s not possible," Jie Fu Lian frowned as he spoke, "I thoroughly checked it and it had no spiritual energy infused with it."
"That’s because I didn’t use spiritual energy," Yu Wei replied as she explained, "I used a special type of high-grade spiritual brush to draw out the talismans that were directly used to make the mask."
As soon as Hua Tianshu heard this, he immediately remembered the impressive brush that he had seen Yu Wei using when they met.
"I think we have more pressing matters that we need to focus on," Jin Shifeng sighed as she spoke, "Instead of discussing a brush, should we not come up with a plan to capture Jin Long?"
Jie Fu Lian pursed his lips as he heard this and gave a nod, feeling that the woman’s words made sense.
"Do you know where he is?" Hua Tianshu looked at Jin Shifeng as he asked.
"I might," Jin Shifeng vaguely answered, "His target is Jie Fu Lian, and Jin Long is quite sick in the head so I can guess where he’s hiding out."
"Where?"
"He already tried to kill you again at the place where you last died so this time, he’ll choose another place that is important to you."
When Jie Fu Lian heard this, he slightly frowned as he thought about all the possible answers before slowly coming to a realization.
"The Yan Sect...?"
Jin Shifeng gave a nod as she confirmed it and spoke, "This time, he isn’t simply after you because of the prophecy. What he wants is revenge."
Jie Fu Lian couldn’t help but want to scoff at how ridiculous that sounded, "Revenge? I should be the one who seeks revenge! How dare he pretend to be the victim...?!"
Before anyone could give a response to that, somebody hurriedly knocked on the door, exclaiming, "There’s trouble!"
Jin Shifeng frowned as she heard this and opened the door only to be greeted by Shen Chao’s sweaty and pale face.
"What happened?" She immediately questioned, having a bad gut feeling.
"I-It’s Duan Luoyang," Shen Chao breathed out, sounding as if he had run all the way here in a hurry, "H-He is gone."
Jin Shifeng’s frown deepened as she heard this, "Gone where?"
"He just disappeared," Shen Chao replied, looking as if he were also just as confused as the rest of them, "He was resting up, but then, I went to check in on him and he disappeared. I searched the entire sect but he is nowhere to be found!"
Hua Tianshu immediately stood up and questioned, "Are you sure you checked everywhere?"
Shen Chao desperately nodded his head as he spoke, "He was nowhere to be found and..."
"And?" Hua Tianshu raised an eyebrow as he urged the man to speak.
"I found this on his bed," Shen Chao felt a little hesitant as he took out the object that he had found.
As soon as Hua Tianshu saw what it was, his eyes slightly widened and he immediately frowned.
It was a small wolf cub’s tail.
Jie Fu Lian’s eyebrows creased together as he looked at the fluffy white tail that was covered in blood.
"Did Duan Luoyang have such a brutal hobby of collecting tails?" Jie Fu Lian cluelessly asked.
Hua Tianshu decided that it was best not to let Jie Fu Lian know the meaning behind this tail and simply spoke, "He did not have such a hobby. This was a warning. He was abducted by Jin Long."
Jie Fu Lian clenched his fist as he heard this, feeling extremely pissed off.
"He abducted him from right under our noses," Hua Tianshu gritted out, "He is teasing us."
"Why would he take Duan Luoyang?" Jie Fu Lian questioned.
"He is really taking revenge this time," Hua Tianshu spoke in disbelief, "Since the very beginning itself, he knew who Duan Luoyang was."
Jie Fu Lian frowned as he heard this, unable to understand Hua Tianshu’s words.
The tail of the wolf was a warning and a message. It let them know that Jin Long already knew who Duan Luoyang was and it also let them know that Jin Long wanted to kill both Duan Luoyang and Jie Fu Lian.
Only after pondering over it for a few minutes did Jie Fu Lian understand why a wolf’s tail was used.
Since Jie Fu Lian had pretended to be a white wolf cub in order to sneak into the Jin Sect, Jin Long had used the tail of a white wolf cub in order to send a threat.
It was creative but also quite horrible. It made Jie Fu Lian regret the fact that he had not killed Jin Long when he had the chance to.
If he had killed him, perhaps an innocent wolf cub would not have been sacrificed today.
When the group hurriedly reached the Yan Sect, the small shrine had already been destroyed, completely crushed into the ground, leaving behind nothing more than dust and debris.
On top of the remains of the small shrine was a shiny dagger, neatly placed as if it was meant to be shown to someone.
When Jie Fu Lian saw the dagger, he immediately recognized it and his mind went blank in shock.
"Tail..." He muttered, realizing why Jin Long had used a wolf’s tail and not any other body part.
"Duan Luoyang was Mo Yang... He was tail..." Jie Fu Lian muttered, slowly coming to the realization that Mo Yang had survived the yan sect’s massacre and was now in danger again.
"I didn’t mean to hide it from you," Hua Tianshu sighed.
"YangYang survived... He was Duan Luoyang... That’s why Jin Long targeted him..." The more Jie Fu Lian thought about it, the more it made sense and the more shocked he felt.
Tears started brimming in his eyes. At first, he was extremely glad and happy to know that Mo Yang had survived but then, those feelings took a dramatic turn when he accounted for the fact that Duan Luoyang could have already been killed by Jin Long who had abducted him with the purpose of killing him.
