"A plan?" Jie Fu Lian repeated, tilting his head in confusion as he asked, "What plan?"

"They were supposed to come in handy when you ascend."

"Huh?"

"I would build many temples dedicated to you and each stone statue would be placed in a different temple. Eight thousand is already a bit less. I was planning on buying more."

When Jie Fu Lian heard this, he seriously wondered if the man was joking or not and in the end, came to the conclusion that Hua Tianshu’s face looked too serious for it to be a mere joke.

"TianTian, are you sure you didn’t hit your head somewhere...?" Jie Fu Lian questioned, "It sometimes seems as if you have lost your marbles."

"You can’t get rid of me that easily. Even if I ascend, I’ll probably come back for you."

Hua Tianshu smiled as he heard this and nodded his head as he spoke, "That sounds good to me."

"Now let’s make these puppets before we get blamed for lazing around," Jie Fu Lian sighed as he reminded him.

Hua Tianshu gave a nod as he agreed.

Jie Fu Lian closed his eyes and took a deep breath in as he focused on using his ’art of controlling spirits’ technique in order to quickly spread his spiritual Qi around and distribute it evenly among the eight thousand statues.

"Just spiritual Qi alone would not do the trick," Hua Tianshu pointed out as he spoke, "It would only be believable if there is demonic Qi as well."

"You are right, but I’m not sure if I can control the puppets that are infused with demonic Qi."

"Don’t worry, I’m here for you. Even if you make a mistake, I’ll be there to fix it."

Jie Fu Lian couldn’t help but unconsciously smile as he heard this, "In that case, do not blame me if things get out of hand."

Jie Fu Lian once again used his ’Art of controlling spirits’ technique to spread his demonic Qi around and distributed it evenly among the stone statues.

When the spiritual Qi met with the demonic Qi, there was a natural rejection and disharmony between the two that almost made the statues explode, however, Jie Fu Lian quickly realized that something was about to go wrong and acted on impulse, saving the statues from exploding.

He slit his palm and smeared his blood on the stone statues one by one. Since the demonic Qi and spiritual Qi inside him were able to act together in harmony, his blood also had the same property, and once smeared on the statues, it provided stabilization to the statues and saved them from exploding.

Jie Fu Lian did not know it would work but he was pleasantly surprised. Hua Tianshu, on the other hand, was not so happy.

"It’s too risky. It would take a lot of time and you’ll need a lot of blood. This method is dangerous," Hua Tianshu immediately pointed out, trying to stop Jie Fu Lian from once again sliting his palm.

"This is the only way," Jie Fu Lian sighed, "If you can think of another method, I’ll listen to you, but for now, let me do what I can before these statues get destroyed."

Hua Tianshu’s frown only deepened as he heard this, but he still obediently let go of Jie Fu Lian’s hand.

In the end, Hua Tianshu also cut his palm and tried to use his own blood to stabilize the statue, however, he was neither the demon king nor a half-demon, so it was only natural that his efforts did not bear fruit. When Hua Tianshu heard this, he unhappily pouted but could not say anything in defense. He ended up stepping aside to let Jie Fu Lian do his work in peace.

Jie Fu Lian was pretty quick and in under half an hour, he was already done with four thousand statues. However, his hands already looked pale and it was hard to see any blood come out even after he had sliced his palm for the nth time.

When Hua Tianshu saw Jie Fu Lian’s tired face, he got worried and immediately stepped up to hold the man’s hand as he spoke, "Take a rest. If you continue on like this, we might not even be able to reach the abyss on time. You have already made four thousand puppets. I think this should be more than enough."

When Jie Fu Lian heard this, he initially wanted to reassure the man that it was okay for him to continue since he was the demon king.

All high-ranking demons had the ability to regenerate so losing a little bit of blood was like nothing to him. He could even lose an arm and grow it back.

However, Jie Fu Lian didn’t say this, instead, he nodded his head as he agreed with Hua Tianshu.

He had the energy to keep going but he still gave up, not because he couldn’t do it anymore but because the task was too boring.

Jie Fu Lian’s lazy self took control over his mouth as he spoke, "I think four thousand puppets should be good. Eight thousand would be overkill."

Hua Tianshu gave a soft smile as he heard this, immediately guessing the real reason why Jie Fu Lian had decided to give up.

Hua Tianshu sighed as he looked down at Jie Fu Lian’s pale hands and immediately tore a piece of his sleeve as he spoke, "It might heal quickly since you are a demon but it would still hurt when you cut yourself up like this. Experiencing pain and being able to overcome it are two entirely different things. I know you can handle the pain but I still wish you wouldn’t have to."

As he spoke, his hands wrapped the piece of cloth around Jie Fu Lian’s hand like a bandage, and Jie Fu Lian couldn’t help but fall more in love with the man who stood in front of him.

When Hua Tianshu was done wrapping the cloth around Jie Fu Lian’s hand, he looked up, waiting for Jie Fu Lian’s response but instead of a verbal response, what he got, in turn, was a kiss on the lips.

As Jie Fu Lian’s lips wrapped around his own, Hua Tianshu’s eyes slightly widened, feeling surprised as his heart slowly melted away.

His lips unconsciously curled up into a smile as he kissed the man back. He felt Jie Fu Lian’s warm breath tickling his face, feeling as if it was warming up his entire body. His heart raced and for a second there, he let go of all worries and troubles, just falling in and enjoying the pure ecstasy of the sweet taste that lingered on his lips.

When Jie Fu Lian pulled away, his eyes were still glued to Hua Tianshu’s lips, looking as if he was craving to suck them again.

"TianTian, I can’t promise you that I’ll stop getting hurt. However, I can promise you that even if I do get hurt, I’ll always come to you and you can wrap it up for me so that it doesn’t hurt anymore."

Hua Tianshu smiled as he heard this and gave a nod as he pecked Jie Fu Lian’s lips and spoke, "I’ll be happy with just that, but if you are too heavily injured, don’t blame me if I scold you as I wrap your wounds."

Jie Fu Lian chuckled, "If it’s you then I like being scolded."

*Cough*

They were suddenly interrupted by the sound of a woman coughing in frustration.

"You two are like that one flower that blooms in the middle of a battlefield."

"Huh?" Jie Fu Lian turned his head to look at the woman who had spoken.

"Cute, but so damn annoying...!"

"..."

"I really didn’t want to disturb you," Ren Lei spoke as she closed her eyes, "But I’m here to remind you that you two need to be somewhere right now."

Standing beside Ren Lei was Shen Chao, who had been tasked with finding the woman and taking her to the mouth of the abyss.

"What are you doing here?" Jie Fu Lian asked as he looked at the two.

"We were waiting for you but when you didn’t show up, we decided to come looking for you," Shen Chao explained.

"I’m sure it hasn’t been that long," Jie Fu Lian tried to defend himself as he spoke, "Is everyone else also there already?"

Shen Chao gave a thin smile as he heard this and spoke, "Everyone used transportation talismans so they have been waiting there for the last half an hour."

"Was Jin Shifeng able to get the eternal hell tower?"

Shen Chan nodded his head as he confirmed it.

"And Yu Wei was able to bring Mo Xue?"

"As soon as your name was mentioned, he didn’t waste even a second," Shen Chao spoke with a small smile, "He didn’t appreciate the fact that you made him wait so much so he is a little angry right now."

When Jie Fu Lian heard this, he couldn’t help but feel a little guilty for having lost track of time.
