Chapter 177: What are they for?

"Was Jin Shifeng able to get the eternal hell tower?"

Shen Chan nodded his head as he confirmed it.

"And Yu Wei was able to bring Mo Xue?"

"As soon as your name was mentioned, he didn’t waste even a second," Shen Chao spoke with a small smile, "He didn’t appreciate the fact that you made him wait so much so he is a little angry right now."

When Jie Fu Lian heard this, he couldn’t help but feel a little guilty for having lost track of time.

Shen Chao looked at the thousands of statues and felt a little confused as he asked, "Where did these come from?"

"You are better off not knowing," Jie Fu Lian thinly smiled as he replied.

"What are they for?" Ren Lei also joined in the conversation as she asked.

Jie Fu Lian proudly smirked as he heard this question and asked, "Do you want to see it?"

Ren Lei’s eyebrows creased together as she heard this and she felt a little suspicious, but still nodded her head, feeling curious to know what he was going to do with them.

Jie Fu Lian looked at the stone statues and snapped his fingers as he activated the puppets.

In just a single second, half of the thousands of stone statues came to life. Their outer appearance started to transform, and they started to look more and more like Jie Fu Lian.

Ren Lei’s eyes slightly widened with amazement and she couldn’t help but feel impressed as she asked, "You can make a human out of stones...?" 𝒻𝑟ℯℯ𝑤𝑒𝑏𝑛𝘰𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝒸𝑜𝘮

"Of course, I can’t." Jie Fu Lian laughed as he spoke, explaining, "I only changed their outer appearance. They are still made out of stone. If you want, you can touch them and see."

Ren Lei nodded her head as she heard this and cautiously approached one of the puppets that looked to be identical to Jie Fu Lian. No matter how one looked at it, the puppet really seemed as if it were alive. Even the spiritual aura and demonic presence were the same as that of Jie Fu Lian.

However, as soon as Ren Lei touched the puppet’s hand, she knew that it was a stone statue and not the real Jie Fu Lian.

Shen Chao was also quite impressed by the puppets and carefully observed one of them as he spoke, "I knew you were talented but... This is really something hard to believe."

Jie Fu Lian felt very proud of his creation and loved the feeling of being showered with praises so he shrugged his shoulders and tried to act cool as he spoke, "This much is nothing. If I wanted to, I could’ve brought the other four thousand statues to life as well."

When Shen Chao heard this, he slightly frowned in confusion as he asked, "Why didn’t you?"

"Because there was no need," Jie Fu Lian answered without missing a beat, "Just these many statues would be more than enough to get the job done."

Shen Chao’s eyebrows creased together as he heard this and feeling curious, he asked, "What do you plan on doing with them?"

"They are a distraction," Jie Fu Lian vaguely answered, not bothering to explain the whole plan that he had in mind.

"Wouldn’t it be better if we all know what to do?" Shen Chao tilted his head as he innocently asked.

Jie Fu Lian shook his head, "You guys are going to take care of things if my plan doesn’t work. For now, there is nothing for you to know."

"..." Shen Chao fell speechless as he heard this.

"So we are just there to clean up your mess?" Ren Lei asked, scoffing.

Jie Fu Lian nodded his head without bothering to deny it, "If you don’t like that, you are more than free to leave. I am not forcing you to join us."

Ren Lei didn’t look to be amused as she heard this. With a frown on her face, she glared at Jie Fu Lian as she spoke, "I’m only here because of Elder Tai Ho. Even if you tell me to leave, I can’t go without his permission."

Jie Fu Lian smiled as he heard this, knowing very well that it was nothing more than an excuse. If she wanted to, she could very well leave and abandon them but she was choosing not to. Elder Tai Ho was nothing more than an excuse.

It seemed that Hua Tianshu also understood this and so, he bowed his head as he spoke, "I thank you for your cooperation. It might get dangerous, but you show such a fearless attitude. You surely deserve to be Elder Tai Ho’s disciple."

Ren Lei pursed her lips into a thin line and looked away, crossing her arms in front of her without saying anything in response.

Jie Fu Lian looked at Shen Chao and with a small smile, he suddenly leaned in as he whispered something in the man’s ear.

Shen Chao’s ears immediately turned red and he covered them with his hands as he flinched back and shouted, "Why me...?!"

When Hua Tianshu saw this, he slightly frowned, not knowing what Jie Fu Lian had said.

"What did you say?" Hua Tianshu asked as he turned to Jie Fu Lian.

Jie Fu Lian shook his head with a chuckle as he refused to say it and simply spoke, "It was nothing important."

This only made Hua Tianshu’s frown deepen as he suspiciously glared at Shen Chao.

Shen Chao was still repeating Jie Fu Lian’s words in his mind and hence, did not notice Hua Tianshu’s unhappy attitude.

"I’m trusting you with Duan Luoyang’s safety. No matter what happens, you’ll save him, won’t you?"

If Jie Fu Lian hadn’t whispered these words in his ears so secretly, perhaps Shen Chao would not have been so flustered by them.

As if to further worsen the misunderstanding, Jie Fu Lian winked at Shen Chao.

Ren Lei, who noticed Hua Tianshu glaring at Shen Chao with unhidden hostility sighed as she spoke up, "Don’t get so jealous. It doesn’t suit you."

"Let’s go!~" Jie Fu Lian beamed as he reminded, "If we keep the others waiting, they might get angrier."

The groups of four used transportation talismans and immediately reached the mouth of the abyss with their army of four thousand puppets.

When Jin Shifeng saw the puppets, her eyes widened and her lips slightly curled up as she exclaimed, "This might work!"

When Jie Fu Lian saw this reaction, he couldn’t help but feel a little surprised and asked, "Do you know what they are for?"

"You are planning on distracting Jin Long with them, are you not?" Jin Shifeng innocently tilted her head as she asked, looking for confirmation.

Jie Fu Lian was pleasantly surprised by how the woman had immediately managed to guess the correct answer.

"That’s right," He nodded his head as he happily confirmed it.

Mo Xue, who had been brought here by Yu Wei looked at the four thousand puppets before looking back at Jie Fu Lian with an unfazed expression as he asked, "Do you really need all these puppets just to trick a single person? You could’ve just asked me to do it for you. I’m not sure if you remember but I’m a peacock. The moment I open my feathers and dance, I can distract anyone and everyone."

Jie Fu Lian smiled as he heard this and politely spoke, "There is something else that I need you to do so I can’t have you just dancing around and acting as a distraction."

When Mo Xue heard this, he felt as if his presence was being appreciated so he smiled as he confidently asked, "What do you want me to do, Master?"

Jie Fu Lian smiled thinly as he looked at Mo Xue. That smile made Mo Xue feel a little uneasy.

"I’ll need you to kill a few rats."

"Rats?" Mo Xue raised an eyebrow as he repeated and reluctantly asked, "Do you mean rat-like people?"

Jie Fu Lian shook his head, "I mean literal rats."

"..." Mo Xue blankly looked at Jie Fu Lian’s face as he wondered if the man was joking or not.

"You called me here to kill rats...?" Mo Xue hesitated a little as he asked.

Jie Fu Lian nodded his head as he firmly confirmed it, "They will be controlled by Jin Long so do not underestimate them."

Hua Tianshu side-glanced at Jie Fu Lian as he heard this and asked, "Why rats?"

"I remembered something," Jie Fu Lian spoke, unconsciously frowning as he recalled the memory, "It was when I fell into the abyss."

Hua Tianshu’s eyebrows creased together as he heard this and he clenched his fist, knowing that he was not going to hear anything pleasant.

"At that time, my body was not fully under my control. I kept hearing whispers and curses that flooded my mind and drove me insane. It was only for a second but I saw it clearly. There was a rat..."

Jie Fu Lian didn’t know why he had never thought about it clearly. From the first place itself, it was clear that his death was no accident and as long as he knew, there was only one person who could communicate with rats and use them at will.

Jin Long...
