Chapter 56: The demon has kidnapped the Hua siblings.

The mission was simple. All they needed to do was subdue the demons and close the gate.

Jie Fu Lian wasn’t the one heading the mission but he was still the one at the front.

He slashed his way through the hoards of demons that came out of the gate. He ruthlessly killed them and painted the ground with their blood. In just two days, he was able to kill them all and when he was done, there was a river of blood left on the ground.

He never asked for anybody’s help and seeing his actions, nobody dared to help him either.

While Jie Fu Lian focused on killing the demons, the rest of the team members focused on closing the gate.

In just two days, not only were all the demons subdued but even the west gate of the demon realm was successfully closed and the mission was completed without any problems.

However, when they arrived back at the Yan sect, they suddenly got to hear a series of bad news.

Another gate of the demon realm had been torn open and although it was closed by the Pheonix clan, one of the demons had managed to escape.

The demon changed forms frequently and did not confine to possessing a human body. It wreaked havoc wherever it went and killed a lot of people.

Originally, the HuiXue sect was the one that had volunteered to stop the demon, but unfortunately, the HuiXue sect failed and the team that was sent out, got captured by the demon.

Jie Fu Lian was naturally tired after helping subdue the demons from the west gate and hence, originally, he had no interest in taking another mission.

"The demon has kidnapped the Hua Siblings," Jie Yang Zhan sighed as he added, "Hua Meifang and Hua Tianshu were the ones leading the mission. They were also captured and their whereabouts are currently unknown."

Jie Fu Lian’s exhaustion seemed to have immediately left his body and his ears perked up as he heard the two familiar names.

He didn’t know if he was supposed to laugh or cry at the sudden turn of events.

With Hua Tianshu involved, there was no way Jie Fu Lian could ignore this mission.

That arrogant bastard, who had insulted him, had now been captured by a demon. Whether he was alive or dead was something that was hard to say. He needed to be rescued and the one volunteering to save him was none other than Jie Fu Lian.

Hua Tianshu was an enemy and Jie Fu Lian was now going to save that enemy. No matter how one would analyze the situation, it sounded a bit ridiculous.

With Jie Fu Lian volunteering, Yin Ru, Xian Huan, Shi XiuYing, and Xue Liang also raised their hand and volunteered.

Soon, a team of seven members was formed to finish the mission of saving hostages and killing a demon. The seven-member team contained five top disciples and two elders of the Yan sect. The two elders were called Elder Wu and Elder Zhao.

The team soon headed out to Nanxun city from where Hua Tianshu and the rest of his team had disappeared.

They used transportation talismans and reached Nanxun city in just a day but expectedly enough, they were unable to find Hua Tianshu and Hua Meifang.

Even with Jie Fu Lian’s improved cultivation realm, he was still unable to find any traces of the disciples from the HuiXue sect.

It was certainly a bit suspicious.

Instead of acting on impulse, they decided to stay at Nanxun for the next few days. They asked the local people and looked for any clues that they could find.

On the third day, they came across two groups of disciples from the Jin sect and the Yu sect.

It seemed that they were also here for the same mission.

From the Jin Sect, Jin Long had also come along and when Jin Long saw Jie Fu Lian, the boy immediately attached himself to the man like white on rice. Jie Fu Lian wasn’t shocked by it but he was certainly a bit uncomfortable. Even if their relationship was good, it was still weird for them to act as if they were suddenly inseparable lovers.

When Yin Ru saw Jin Long, she recognized the boy and looked to be a little surprised.

Xian Huan even teased Jie Fu Lian as he commented, "Brother Ming, I wondered why you’d abandoned your obsession over Hua Tianshu. Turns out, it was because you’d found someone new. Who could’ve guessed?"

"I thought you were a devoted man. It seems that I was wrong. Brother Ming, I’m a bit disappointed in you but I still wish you both well," Xue Liang sighed as he chimed in.

Shi XiuYing only chuckled as he heard these comments and refrained from saying anything.

Jie Fu Lian glared at Xian Huan and Xue Liang as he gritted out, "Who was obsessed with who now...?! Did I not warn you about mentioning that Hua Dog’s name?!"

The two immediately shut up.

Yin Ru laughed as she intervened, "Now~ Now~ Don’t get into a fight over something like this. We are here on a mission. Let’s focus on that first."

Jie Fu Lian frowned, feeling a little unhappy at the accusations that he had received, but in the end, he still nodded his head as he agreed with Yin Ru.

They were here on a mission and they needed to focus on that.

Jin Long was a clueless one and hence, he continued to cling to Jie Fu Lian without any embarrassment.

"Brother Ming, I really missed you a lot. I thought about you every day. It’s so good to see you again like this," Jin Long beamed.

His words which were said with innocent intentions were gravely misunderstood.

Xian Huan and Xue Liang gave knowing looks to Jie Fu Lian, and Yin Ru coughed as she tried her best not to laugh at the situation.

Since the three teams from different sects had come together for the same mission, they decided to join forces. They shared information that they had gathered with each other and collectively made plans on what to do next.

When they were all done discussing the details, the sky had already turned dark and hence, they rented out two inns in Nanxun city where they would stay for the next few days.

Since there weren’t many rooms, all the rooms were shared between two people. Originally, Jie Fu Lian planned on staying with Xue Liang or Xian Huan, but before he could even say anything, Jin Long had already pulled him and exclaimed, "Then I’ll share a room with brother Ming!~"

Xue Liang and Xian Huan looked at each other before they looked back at Jin Long and Jie Fu Lian. Their lips curled up in a teasing smirk but they didn’t say anything.

Jie Fu Lian didn’t want to share a room with the boy, but in the end, his opinions were ignored and he ended up with Jin Long as his roommate.

If Jin Long had just gone to sleep, perhaps there wouldn’t have been a problem.

However, this boy was a bit too hyperactive!

He started talking the moment they entered the room and a few hours later, he was still talking.

Listening to him talk nonsense made Jie Fu Lian feel as if he was going mad.

In the end, he could no longer take it, and hence, in the middle of the night, he stood up and got dressed before heading out with the excuse of ’taking a walk to clear his mind’.

Jin Long, of course, volunteered to join him on the walk but Jie Fu Lian sternly refused and left after locking the door behind him so that Jin Long couldn’t follow him out even if he wanted to.

It was quite late and outside the inn, there weren’t many people walking about. Some of the shops were open while most of the others were closed by now.

Jie Fu Lian didn’t want to go back to the inn but the temperature was quite cold and walking around in this cold atmosphere only made him feel uncomfortable.

Twenty minutes later, he finally decided to go into a tavern but just as he reached the door of the tavern, he saw a suspicious man walking out.

Jie Fu Lian stopped in his tracks and carefully looked at the suspicious man.

The man had covered his head with a cloak and was walking quite fast but that wasn’t what made him suspicious.

What made him suspicious was the scent he carried. It was the scent of corpse powder.

Jie Fu Lian wasn’t too sure about it, but when he looked at the man, he felt as if something was up, and hence, he decided to follow him instead of going into the tavern.

The man didn’t seem to have noticed the fact that he was being followed but he still looked to be quite anxious.

Jie Fu Lian couldn’t help but feel a little curious and wanted to know why the man felt so anxious. He also wanted to know why there was the scent of corpse powder on the man.

However, even if he asked, the man would probably not tell him the truth and hence, all he could do was follow the man and hope to find the answer.
