Chapter 55: The second meeting

Nine years ago,

Jie Fu Lian came out of his three-year seclusion.

When he went into seclusion, nobody had much expectation or hope.

When the news spread around that Hua Tianshu had insulted Jie Fu Lian, calling him a show-off with no supporting bone, everyone immediately understood why Jie Fu Lian had decided to go into seclusion. It was probably because of embarrassment.

He had been looking forward to meeting his idol and challenging him but only got insulted in turn. Anyone would have felt embarrassed enough to go into a three-year-long seclusion after that.

Jie Fu Lian, who was in seclusion at the time, naturally did not know about the rumors that had spread, but if he had heard about the exaggerated story in the rumor, he would have surely punched the story-teller and said something along the lines of ’Who the hell is embarrassed?! That Hua Dog can go and bark around all he likes. Who cares about him?! When did he become my idol? You dare spread lies about me?!"

However, when Jie Fu Lian finally came out of seclusion, nobody could even remember to mention the rumors. The moment they saw him, they immediately understood that the rumor didn’t matter anymore.

It didn’t matter why he had gone into seclusion, be it out of embarrassment or motivation. What truly mattered was the fact that when he came out, he had changed so much that nobody could recognize him anymore.

Even his senior martial sister Yin Ru blinked a few times and frowned as she saw him.

She rubbed her eyes and asked, "Is that really you...?"

Three years ago, who could’ve guessed that the boy who went into seclusion after being humiliated by Hua Tianshu would actually return as one of the greatest talents under the heavens?!

Three years ago, he couldn’t even reach the same cultivation realm as Hua Tianshu but now, even Hua Tianshu had fallen behind him.

Miraculously, he had reached the half-step stage of the sage realm in just a span of three years. It was the fastest cultivation ascension recorded in history.

It was truly the shock of the century and when the shock settled in, everyone started to feel a little curious and decided to approach Jie Fu Lian just to interrogate him and dig out his secrets.

In those three years, what had the man gone through in order to suddenly gain so much strength? Of course, everyone was interested to know.

In reality, Jie Fu Lian was also a bit shocked and confused about his sudden cultivation speed.

The three-year-long cultivation wasn’t even as difficult as the one year that he had spent in the eternal hell tower.

He practiced his art of controlling spirits and forged a dagger. The dagger was the only weapon that he had forged in those three years of time. The dagger didn’t look special and the raw materials used were neither expensive nor precious.

However, Jie Fu Lian guessed that the dagger was probably the reason why he had suddenly improved his cultivation speed by leaps and bounds.

The inexpensive, unimportant materials used to forge the dagger were nothing more than spirits. Spirits of dead animals, spirits of dead trees, and even spirits of dead demons.

It was a dagger that was completely white from top to bottom and had a surface not made out of metal but instead, made from a material that was alike jade. It looked fragile as if one drop to the ground would be enough to shatter it into pieces, but in reality, it was the strongest dagger to ever exist on this earth.

In those three years of time, Jie Fu Lian had completely mastered the art of controlling spirits and with the help of his mastered skill, he forged a dagger that could kill every living and non-living thing that walked on this land.

The dagger would never break and its blade would never need to be sharpened. It was comfortable to hold and even more comfortable to wield. Although it looked like a decorative piece of junk, it was possibly the best weapon under the heavens.

The last time Jie Fu Lian had created such an extraordinary weapon, he was forced to gift it to Hua Tianshu, and hence, this time, he was a bit more careful.

He didn’t say much about the dagger. He openly showed the dagger to everyone and acted as if it was insignificant. Its appearance successfully fooled people and everyone thought it was nothing more than a piece of decorative junk.

However, although he had fooled everyone, in the end, he still couldn’t keep the dagger.

When he came out of the three-year seclusion, he was assigned a new personal attendant.

The attendant was much younger than him and had an average cultivation base. He wasn’t impressive in terms of both skills and looks but he was a hard worker. The boy admired Jie Fu Lian a lot and he never hid his admiration.

He was soon nicknamed ’tail’ because of how he followed Jie Fu Lian around.

After a month, Jie Fu Lian eventually got used to the ’tail’ that had latched itself on him and he even got a little attached to the little ’tail’.

One day, he ordered the tail to clean his room and the tail found the dagger that he had carelessly kept inside one of the drawers.

The little tail was fascinated by the dagger and like everyone else, he also failed to see the true potential of the dagger. However, although he saw it as a decorative object, he didn’t deem it as junk. Even if it was practically useless, he was still fascinated by its beauty, and hence, he quickly went to Jie Fu Lian and asked the man about the dagger.

Jie Fu Lian didn’t explain anything in detail and simply talked about how he had created the dagger out of boredom during his three-year-long seclusion.

The tail looked to be quite delighted as he heard this and he complimented Jie Fu Lian as he handed the dagger back.

After the three-year seclusion, it seemed like Jie Fu Lian was hearing a lot of compliments, but it was the first time somebody had complimented him for forging this dagger.

Even his own father had clicked his tongue and asked, "Why did you waste time on that stupid thing? You should’ve cultivated more diligently."

"Tail, If you want, I’ll forge a sword for you. In the future, if you can improve your cultivation realm, I’ll definitely reward you with a new sword that looks even better than this dagger," Jie Fu Lian spoke up as he felt a little happy with the tail’s compliment.

The tail’s face immediately lit up and he clasped Jie Fu Lian’s hands as he asked, "Young master, are you sure? Wouldn’t it be too troublesome?"

Jie Fu Lian chuckled as he heard the young boy and confidently replied, "I’m a man of my words. If I have said I will, I definitely will."

The tail gulped and overwhelmed by emotions, he hugged Jie Fu Lian tightly as he spoke, "Thank you, young master! If it’s a promise from you then I’ll definitely work hard and improve!"

Jie Fu Lian rubbed the boy’s hair and chuckled as he heard this.

After that day, the tail seemed to have quit his job as Jie Fu Lian’s tail. Although he still assisted Jie Fu Lian and completed every task given by the man, he no longer followed the man around. Instead, he used all of his free time to cultivate.

He was determined to win a sword forged by Jie Fu Lian and Jie Fu Lian was impressed by that determination which reminded him of himself.

When he looked at Tail, he could see the thirteen-year-old Jie Fu Lian who had gone into the eternal hell tower with nothing more than determination and the will to survive.

Jie Fu Lian immediately felt as if this boy’s future was going to be bright.

Three months later, there was a sudden mission assigned to the Yan Sect. It was a grade-A mission and when Jie Fu Lian heard the details of the mission, he couldn’t help but raise his hand and volunteer to join.

The west gate of the demon realm had been opened.

The thirteen-year-old Jie Fu Lian had almost lost his life trying to close the east gate of the demon realm, four years ago. He still remembered that day vividly. It haunted him and instilled fear inside his heart.

He had to overcome that fear and he had to face it, hence, he unhesitantly volunteered to join the mission.

He wanted to prove that he was no longer the same Jie Fu Lian.

He was now much stronger than he once was and he no longer needed Hua Tianshu to come and save him.

His father, naturally allowed him to take part in the mission. Not only because he was willing and capable, but also because it would be good for Jie Fu Lian to build a good reputation through this mission.

He was already at the half-step stage of the sage realm, something he had achieved in the span of just three years. If he were to help close the west gate of the demon realm, people would definitely talk about him and the Yan sect’s reputation would only increase in the future.
