"I mean it would make sense if that were the case," Jie Fu Lian spoke as he nodded to himself.

Jie Fu Lian stopped walking and looked at the man with an odd smile. His eyes slowly trailed down Duan Luoyang’s body and fixated around his crotch area as he commented, "He is a man. I can confirm."
Jie Fu Lian nonchalantly continued walking forward and Duan Luoyang stood frozen in place before coughing in embarrassment as he understood the underlying meaning behind Jie Fu Lian’s words.
"B-but then why would Madam Jin marry him?"
"That’s something only Madam Jin can accurately answer," Jie Fu Lian replied with a sigh, "But I can definitely make a guess if you want."
"A guess?" Duan Luoyang curiously repeated.
Jie Fu Lian gave a nod as he spoke, "We talked to Sect Master Yao and it didn’t seem like Madam Jin Shifeng had a good life in the Yu Sect." He suddenly lifted the book he was reading as he added, "This book can confirm it."
"Huh?" Duan Luoyang tilted his head in confusion.
"She wanted to become a beast tamer but because of her sect master’s strictness, she was forced to give up her only dream. From the start itself, her sect had already planned out a life for her, and straying from that plan was not an option. There were many things that she wanted to do but after the disapproval of Sect Master Yao, she could only give up on her own dreams and aspirations."
"Couldn’t she just leave the sect?" Duan Luoyang questioned, feeling a little pity for the woman.

"When Jin Shifeng found out that her beloved was being tortured, she immediately begged Sect Master Yao to let Yu Wei go and in turn, she promised to cut all ties with Yu Wei. Sect Master Yao happily agreed to this and dismissed Yu Wei the very next day."
"How cruel," Duan Luoyang gritted out, "Is loving someone such a sin?"
Although there were same-sex relationships in the martial world, it wasn’t a common practice. Naturally, there were many who supported such couples but there also some who didn’t. Sect Master Yao seemed to be a classic example of the latter.
