The Devil's Betrothed-Chapter 674: Answer My Questions
Chapter 674: Answer My Questions
"Stay right there if you don’t want to die," Oriana’s angry voice echoed inside the chamber as she glared at the demon in warrior-like sober attire.
In response, Xyron knelt on one knee, "My Lady, Princess Esmeray, Xyron, the general of the demon realm’s military, greets you."
"I don’t care who you are. All I want is to get the hell out of here," she growled, anger brewing inside her.
Free from the Demon Lord’s power, Oriana could now use her power to some extent despite her weak body. She looked at the huge vase placed in the corner of the chamber and, in the next moment, it flew towards Xyron.
Crash!
Before it could even reach Xyron, a power collided with it, and the vase turned into ashes. Oriana, not surprised by it, could only glare at him.
So everyone here was more powerful than her, despite she is said to be the demon princess, a most powerful demoness. She felt like it was nothing but a great joke.
Moreover, these demons were more powerful than any supernaturals she had seen on earth. She wondered if the barrier around the demon realm was gone, and all these demons decided to attack earth, not a single earthly supernatural being could win against them.
It also, made her wonder if Arlan was here, could he win against the Demon Lord, who she thought was the most powerful here? Had she put Arlan’s life in danger?
"Apologies for being the reason for your anger, my ladyship. But I am here to help you." Xyron’s voice brought her back to her senses. His head was lowered in respect, and his words and demeanor were polite, totally opposite to the Demon Lord.
"Help me? For what?" she asked, trying to remain calm. "Will you help me get back to the human realm?"
"I am afraid I cannot, my Ladyship."
She clenched her fists in anger as the sight of these demons was enough to anger her nerves. "Then, as I said before, get out of here."
"But I can help you regain your memories and answer your questions," he maintained his same calm demeanor.
Oriana stared at him for a while. The way he knelt in front of her and spoke with respect made her think this demon might still see her as a princess and be willing to listen to her. She had thought demons would be malicious and scary, but looking at Xyron, she felt she could be wrong. Instead of sending him away, she might make use of his obedience and respect towards her.
"Will you answer my questions?" she asked to make sure.
"Only those I can," he replied.
She chuckled, "So there is something that you want to hide and I should not know about."
Xyron remained quiet for a while, his head lowered so that Oriana could not see his expression, but she could sense what she said was true.
"Please ask your questions, my Lady," he said.
"I will keep it simple for you then," she said. "Who is that lord? Tell me about him and how powerful he is." She needed to know her enemy before putting up a fight with him.
"If my lady allows me to help her regain her memories, she will know all the answers," Xyron replied.
"How can you help me regain my memories?" she asked.
"I have powers that I can use to help you regain memories."
"You seem to have something that you want to hide from me, or rather something that lord wants to hide from me. Then what is the guarantee that the memories I regain are all true? If you hold such power, you might tamper with my memories, won’t you?" she asked, her voice cold and calm. "What if you make me forget my existing memories from the human realm under the disguise of helping me?"
"My Lady..."
"Let me make it clear to you," she interrupted him, "I do not have an ounce of trust in you, so you can drop this act and answer my questions. If you can’t, get your ass out of this chamber."
Oriana didn’t bother to be polite or avoid inappropriate words as she was simply angry. The only thing that could calm her was seeing her husband.
On the other hand, her anger had no effect on Xyron. "I will answer what you have asked me."
He did not bother to refute her claim of them wanting to manipulate her memories, which assured Oriana that what she said was the truth and these people truly had plans to tamper with her memories.
"Make it fast," she commented.
"He is the Demon Lord, Lord Tharzimon, the current lord of the Demon Kingdom and the most powerful being at the moment among all the demons," he began. "As he is the most powerful one, every single demon has to obey his orders and follow his commands without raising a question. His words are absolute commands which can’t be disobeyed."
"Is that why I could not go against him and was powerless in front of him?" she asked.
"Yes, My Lady. You are a demoness, so it will apply to you as well."
"How can I break through his command and not submit to him?" she asked.
"You can’t."
"Why?"
"Because you are not more powerful than him, my lady."
She raised a brow, "So if I am more powerful than him, he holds no power over me?"
"Only the most powerful one can be in command; this is the rule of the demon realm. If my lady is the most powerful, she will be the one to command everyone."
’Interesting,’ Oriana thought. She asked, "Before him, my father was the ruler."
"Yes, my lady."
"Was I this weak in my past life as well? Weaker than this Tharzimon?" She didn’t bother to add a title to his name. From the moment he decided to disrespect her wishes, he was nothing but a bug in her eyes.
"You were the most powerful being in the demon realm," he replied. "You were supposed to be the ruler after your father."
"What happened to my father?" This was the question she was most interested in.
If the one in the human realm was her father and a demon as well, it was highly likely that he was the same person. In both her lives, her father was the same person or rather she should say the same Demon. But, if he is the previous demon lord as she suspected now, what was he doing in the human realm? Does the shield around demon realm, did not allow him to enter or there was some other reason?
"In the last war between gods and demons, we lost him as we lost you, my lady," his words brought her back to her senses.
"Like me, there is a chance my father must have reincarnated as well."
"That I am not sure of, my lady," he replied. "Lord Tharzimon could only sense you as he is connected to you with a betrothal bond."
"That damn rock which brought me here?"
"Yes, my lady."
"How I wish to destroy it," she gritted her teeth, "The first thing I am going to do if I get the chance, is to destroy that rock and blow it’s ashes on that Lord’s face."
