Chapter 32: The Wolf in Moonlight

Surface World, Inside the Abandoned Factory.

Cael’s Black Lightning clone hesitated for a moment.

Should he just kill Kaiser? Or give him to the Black Owl Guild?

Any decision he took now would definitely change the direction of the plot.

However, it didn’t matter. He had already stepped into muddy waters. The plot was already deviating from the original.

While he was thinking, he didn’t lose sight of Kaiser, who was slowly walking toward the entrance.

Cael raised his hand and clenched it.

Instantly, Kaiser’s shadow flickered as it turned into black lightning chains that bound him, pinning him to the ground while electrocuting him.

Cael jumped down from above.

His feet landed lightly as he walked toward Kaiser.

Cael had made up his mind to kill Kaiser.

Giving Kaiser to the Black Owl Guild was also a good option, but it would only worsen the relationship between the Council and Black Owl even further.

Well... Cael also had a third option: letting him go.

But it didn’t even cross his mind, nor would he consider it even if it did.

Kaiser struggled continuously when he heard footsteps approaching.

He was terrified.

His mind screamed at him to run away.

That fear and panic enveloped him as a few drops of tears ran down his face.

The smell of burnt air and ozone lingered around him as the black lightning chains crackled faintly.

Kaiser’s shoulders trembled uncontrollably, every spark reminding him how close death already was.

Cael, who watched the grown man crying in fear, felt both bewildered and disgusted.

He was a spy.

How could he cry so easily?

’Am I that scary? Surely not.’

Cael stopped before Kaiser and looked down at him as he said in a mocking voice,

"You crying? Well... do me a favor and cry louder."

Kaiser almost fainted at those words as he stared at Cael’s black eyes, which seemed to hold no emotion.

"You... Who are you?"

Cael pointed at himself and said,

"Me? I don’t have a name. Well, not yet at least. But after killing you... I’ll definitely get a name. But don’t worry, if I ever kill another person, I’ll tell him to tell you my name in the afterlife."

Kaiser smirked and shook his head.

"Kid, I don’t know who you are or why you kidnapped me, but I’ll say one thing... You are underestimating the Council too much."

"The Council planted a tracking device in my body. I bet they are already surrounding this area and making preparations to capture you."

"I’ll make you an offer. Release me... and I will tell the Council not to capture you. What do you think?"

Cael put his hand on his chin and looked into the distance as if he were seriously pondering it.

For a brief moment, silence filled the factory.

The only sound left was the faint crackle of lightning crawling along the floor.

Then he turned his gaze back to Kaiser and said,

"Very well then. I will send you."

As soon as those words were spoken, Kaiser was overjoyed, thinking the masked man was releasing him.

But...

Cael placed his hand on Kaiser’s head, black lightning flickering around his fingers.

"Wh-what is the meaning of this? You said you would send me."

Cael tilted his head as he stared into Kaiser’s eyes and said in a cold tone,

"Yes, I will send you... to your afterlife. Happy journey."

As soon as he finished those words, Cael’s black lightning entered Kaiser’s brain, and within a few seconds, he died.

Cael let go of Kaiser’s head, allowing his corpse to fall freely onto the ground.

He sighed.

It was the clone’s first time killing someone, and it left a bad taste.

Cael recalled the story. In the arc where the Council asked Kaiser to hand over the data of the Black Owl, this stubborn guy didn’t reveal anything, thinking the Council would abandon him after using him.

For that reason, he didn’t store the data anywhere except in his own brain.

Trust issues... or insecurity?

Maybe both.

Cael didn’t immediately leave the place.

As Kaiser had said, he was indeed surrounded.

There were even [Platinum] and [Diamond] rankers.

"I am so dead."

Cael also couldn’t use the Teleportation skill because of a spatial barrier.

Various thoughts ran through his mind when his power suddenly increased from [Silver 1] to [Silver 2].

’Looks like the main body made a breakthrough.’

But he shook his head. This wasn’t the time to get distracted.

He knew his limits. He couldn’t escape without using teleportation.

He sighed again. 𝚏𝕣𝐞𝗲𝐰𝕖𝐛𝐧𝕠𝕧𝚎𝚕.𝐜𝚘𝗺

Who would want to fight impossible odds? Certainly not him.

Cael didn’t want to get captured or die fighting.

So... he calmly decided to dispel himself.

But...

He waited until the Council members revealed themselves.

...

The Council members waited for the agent responsible for overseeing Kaiser.

Soon, the injured agent arrived at the factory.

He had fully recovered from his injuries.

"All of you... Keep your guards up. The kidnapper was too cunning."

"Also, check the spatial barrier. I suspect he can use teleportation."

He gave instructions to his fellow agents.

His code name was Agent Seth.

Looking at the [Platinum] and [Diamond] rankers, he sighed in relief.

He didn’t have the confidence to capture the masked man himself.

The masked man’s mocking words still echoed in his mind.

Agent Seth gritted his teeth and clenched his fist.

"This time... I will show you... what I am truly capable of."

Soon, led by the [Diamond] ranker, Agent Seth followed him along with five [Platinum] rankers, and they entered the factory.

The factory floor was silent, illuminated only by pale moonlight leaking through the broken roof. Shadows stretched across the rusted machines like silent watchers.

They saw Kaiser’s corpse as they surveyed the area.

Then they saw him.

Sitting on a broken machine, bathing in the moonlight, he played with two metal rods.

Then he looked at them, his wolf mask reflecting the moonlight.

"Welcome, bitches from the Council. I’ve been waiting for a damn long time."
