Chapter 33: Shocking Realization

Cael stared at the Council agents with a smug smile.

During the one month Cael and his clones trained, they discovered many things.

With Cael’s permission, the clones could dispel themselves whenever they wanted.

Since this mission was dangerous, Cael obviously permitted the clone to dispel itself if the situation got out of hand, while reminding him about the blood drop.

Agent Seth pointed at the masked Cael and said, allowing his fellow agents to hear,

"It’s him."

The Diamond ranker nodded at Agent Seth and looked at Cael.

"Kid, I don’t know who you are, but calmly come with us. If not, we will have to force you."

Cael was amused. Even after seeing that Kaiser had died, they only wanted to capture him.

The agent continued,

"You are just a Silver ranker. I promise we won’t harm you."

Cael smirked.

It wasn’t hard to guess what the Council wanted to do.

They wanted to brainwash him and turn him into their dog.

Kaiser was dead, so what?

They could just create a second Kaiser.

But they couldn’t find a special element user this easily.

Not to mention, Cael had bested an agent who was a Gold ranker.

Cael locked his eyes on Agent Seth and said,

"Miss me already? It’s not even been hours since I said goodbye."

"Sigh... being too popular is such a hassle."

The Council agents’ lips twitched.

Agent Seth smiled menacingly and said,

"Yes, I indeed missed you. But this time I am sure to stay with you."

Cael then looked at the Diamond ranker, pointed at Agent Seth, and said,

"Look at that ugly bastard’s smile, and you are telling me you guys won’t harm me? Even elementary school kids wouldn’t believe those words."

Agent Seth’s face darkened, and he immediately shouted,

"Didn’t I tell you? This kid has a loose tongue. Talking with him only angers us."

Another agent also nodded.

The Diamond ranker sighed.

"I just don’t want to harm good talent. Guess we should prepare good medical care."

The others chuckled.

They didn’t take Cael seriously at all.

Slowly, Cael stood up and stretched his body.

"You guys are too boring."

Cael suddenly said, making all the agents raise their eyebrows.

"Anyway, I am leaving. I am tired today. Well... let’s play next time."

Then Cael used Black Lightning Step to come out of the factory, only to see a hand inches away from him.

It was the Diamond ranker.

He had crossed more than twenty meters instantly.

’Too fast.’

Cael didn’t hesitate as he used Black Lightning Step again.

Even then, Cael wasn’t able to shake off the Diamond ranker.

It was just as he expected.

Running away wasn’t possible.

At this rate, he would run out of mana if he used ten more Black Lightning Steps.

For a split second, Cael glanced at the approaching mages behind the Diamond ranker.

Then a fireball was hurled toward him.

It was too fast for him to dodge.

Cael grinned.

’Finally... someone impatient enough to attack.’

Cael adjusted himself, allowing the fireball to hit him in the heart.

Even though the fireball wouldn’t harm him, it could still serve its purpose.

As for why Cael grinned and allowed himself to get hit?

It was because of Cael’s blood drop.

After the clone dispelled, a drop of blood would fall.

If others were to find that drop, finding Cael would be very easy.

Originally, Cael wanted to find a water pond or any source that could destroy the drop.

But the fireball came at the right time.

Just as the fireball was about to touch him, he dispelled himself.

The fireball disintegrated the drop of blood as it passed through Cael’s body like it was an illusion.

The Diamond ranker’s eyes widened as he shouted,

"It’s an afterimage! Search for him! Capture him at all costs!"

But it was just a futile search.

And just like that, Cael became a wanted person by the Council.

...

While Cael and the Black Lightning clone were having the thrill of their lives, the cautious Wind clone was also having the time of its life.

District Kazi, back to the day when Lucian said Kira Crimson was a vampire.

After sharing the plan with Cael, Luke left, leaving Cael alone on the balcony.

’Strange... his tone was too serious, which is very rare.’

’Is he that angry?’

’Well, a vampire infiltrating the academy is a serious problem.’

But the Wind clone still felt that something was wrong and that he was forgetting a very important detail.

After all, he was cautious by nature, and he tended to overthink things.

Was he really just overthinking?

Maybe.

Or maybe not.

Cael took a deep breath.

’Let’s start from the beginning.’

’Today, I met them outside the academy at a cafe.’

’I asked them why there were two of them, to which I got a sarcastic reply from Luke.’

’He said the girls fell for him instantly as soon as they saw him.’

’Yeah, sure. Like I believe that.’

’That’s obviously a lie meant to provoke me.’

’Then we waited until Aria— wait?!?’

Cael’s eyes widened as he realized something.

"A lie..."

Luke lied to him in the morning.

But it didn’t trigger his A-Rank skill: Wrong Eye.

He wasn’t the main body, so he couldn’t check the status or the skill description.

But he did know one thing.

’Wrong Eye won’t trigger if the opponent is stronger than me.’

Did Cael think he was stronger than Luke?

No.

Luke was way stronger than him.

Then why?

But now... why did Wrong Eye trigger, saying Luke was lying?

The cautious Cael’s heart began to beat rapidly.

There were two possibilities.

One was that Luke had somehow become weaker than Cael within half a day.

Which was extremely unlikely.

The second possibility...

Someone had perfectly disguised themselves as Luke and tried to manipulate him.

But...

The problem was that the other party had said Kira was a vampire with absolute certainty.

Cael felt a headache forming.

This was too much for him.

To summarize his analysis:

Someone disguised themselves as Luke and said Kira was a vampire.

Through Wrong Eye, Cael learned that Kira was indeed a vampire.

And the disguiser told Cael a plan to follow.

’Who was this disguiser? What is his purpose?’

’Is Kira really a vampire?’

Now Cael was even doubting his own skill.

What if the other party possessed a skill that could bypass Wrong Eye?

Thinking all this, Cael couldn’t help but curse,

"Damn you, main body."
