The Faceless Billionaire Celebrity Wife-Chapter 280: Marry Me.
A ping from her phone jolted Cyprian out of her reverie and she looked around to realize she was still standing in the corridor of both hers and her brothers apartments. Her stupid action that day made them still protect her like this, even to the point of neglecting their privacy and choosing to live with her.
As she looked from one door to the other of the four doors, she remembered how they had actively protected her right from a young age. The oldest among her brothers was 36, just ten years older than her, yet he behaved like he was her grandfather while the rest of them followed suit.
And it was all her fault.
She looked down at the message she got and saw that it was from Esther.
[Did you talk with mommy, Aunt Cyprian?] The message read.
’That’s true. Been a while since this unruly girl called me,’ Cyprian thought, swiping the message off to dial Shikera’s number.

Without looking at the caller ID, Ethan swiped the red dial to disconnect the call before its loud ring would wake Shikera up. She was currently sleeping in his arms like the baby that finally got the chance to rest after being deprived of sleeping for days.
He adjusted himself to a position where he could see her face clearly, a surge of emotions passing through his chest when he saw how pale she was.
From what he had seen since he came, she didn’t seem like she was sick. The only strange occurrence was the belly ache and her vomiting but she had explained why that was happening and also informed him she had gone to the hospital, giving him no room to complain or worry.
He trailed a finger from her forehead down to the ridge of her nose, his brows furrowing in concern.
"I was right. She really is different," he murmured beneath his breath.
"How am I different?" Shikera opened her eyes and asked, startling him.
"You were awake?" Ethan’s hand didn’t leave her nose even though she had opened her eyes and caught him.
"Yeah, I was too tired to open my eyes. It’s all the fault of one particular man," she smiled, snuggling closer to Ethan.
"You were the one who wanted to—"
"Yes I know, and I accept my blame," Shikera interrupted him. Ethan was a shameless man to some extent, but she was the complete opposite. "By the way, I asked how am I different?"
"Your nose; it looks different." Ethan’s answer was simple and straightforward, making Shikera doubt that he was speaking the truth. What could be different about her own nose?
"What’s different?" she asked him.
"Here," he began, placing two fingers on either side of her nose. "Your nose used to be so small that I always wondered if you had enough breathing space, but now, it looks like the size has increased to normal."
Shikera stared at the serious expression on his face for a while before bursting into laughter.
"You always find a way to make nonsense sound like it’s full of sense, Ethan. I almost believed you there," she stated.
"You should. It’s the truth," Ethan insisted.
"It’s not," Shikera argued. She turned over to pick up her phone on the bedside table. "Cyprian called."
"She was the one? You were sleeping so I hung up..." Ethan trailed off, a frown settling on his face when he realized something. "Kera, you were in contact with your friend all through?"
"No, I should explain but it’s so complicated. When I went to the city to visit the hospital, I met Esther. She wanted to meet me again so I had to tell her to contact Cyprian. One thing led to the other and here we are. I speak to Esther once in a while too."
Ethan could only stare at her, speechless. It was understandable that he had found it hard to even notice Cyprian, but how was it that he hadn’t been able to tell that Esther was hiding something? His daughter would have seen him as a complete fool.
"What’s going through your mind?" Shikera asked, snapping him out of his thoughts.
"I’m thinking we have to be on our way home as soon as possible. Our vacation should be brought to an end."
Shikera sighed. She had been expecting this for a long time but now that the discussion was starting, she was beginning to dread it.
"Ethan, can’t you just leave alone?" she asked.
"That’s an absurd request. And even if it made any sense, I still won’t return to that city without you."
"Why?"
Ethan chuckled."Are you seriously asking me that? Okay, let’s do this. Give me a reason why I should go back without you coming with me," he demanded. 𝑓𝑟ℯ𝘦𝓌𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝑐ℴ𝓂
"Because..." Shikera was obviously flustered as she had not expected the question, but she knew her answer would determine whether she was leaving with Ethan or not.
"Because what?" Ethan probed.
"Because we are divorced. We got married only on paper so our marriage isn’t a big deal. Plus I already signed the divorce papers so I guess I’m supposed to be free to do whatever I want and come back to the city at my own time," Shikera replied.
"For the last time, Kera, we are not divorced. I didn’t sign those papers so we are still as married as any other couple out there." He paused for a while, inhaling deeply before adding, "But I understand that you are a cheerful human and you have probably planned out your life since you were a teenager...And getting forced to marry a gloomy man like me was definitely not in your plans. And even though you might have a little bit of attraction for me at the moment, you still can’t let go of your childhood dreams."
"What’s with the countless ’ands’?" Shikera asked, but got no reply from the man who looked like a final year university student getting ready to defend his project.
"Ethan?" she called.
"So... our marriage might have been fake and ordinary from the beginning when you obviously deserved something extraordinary, but I’ll try my best to repair that."
He nodded to himself and looked up, his gaze softening.
"Marry me, Shikera....Again."
