The Faceless Billionaire Celebrity Wife-Chapter 282: Big Brother; Little Sister.
Shikera had no idea how she disentangled herself from Ethan’s embrace and got out of the house. All she knew was that she met herself at paradise, still reeling from the shock of what happened an hour ago. She thought she had angered Ethan completely and was even already counting the minutes until his patience would deplete completely; but what was that reaction he gave?
"I’m sorry, Honey." His hands had tightened around her body, "I’m so sorry."
She could clearly remember being shocked at that moment to the extent of not being able to reply to his words. Instead, her own hands had subconsciously gone to wrap around his waist.
"I’m grateful you stated your reasons," Ethan had continued, "And Shikera, I’ll stop being a boring husband. From now on, I don’t dislike babies anymore. You can have as many as you want and you’re also free to use me as a babysitter. What else?"
He was silent for a only a second before adding, "Also the uhm, I can and I will take the mask off for you. Not today, not tomorrow, but I can work towards whatever time you think is convenient for you. I can be everything you want in a husband and more. You just have to tell me what you want and it’ll be done."
"I’m so sorry..."
Shikera slowly shook her head to clear her mind which was getting foggier as the minutes went by. When Ethan had apologized even without doing a thing, the amount of guilt that had flooded her heart was inexplicable. Suddenly, she had had no idea why she rejected him in the first place.
But now that she was here, even as her mind was in a disarray, she knew just one thing. There was no way she would live if Ethan went back to the city without her. She couldn’t even imagine herself opening her eyes and not seeing him before her, like this morning.
Her previous episodes of hurling her guts out whenever she ate was always almost unbearable but when Ethan was with her today, she felt like it didn’t matter. The worry which his usually cold dark eyes held for her was more than soothing for her pain. The peace which enveloped her heart whenever she laid on his chest was overwhelming, and lastly, she could not rob her child of his or her right to be with their father.
The last might just be an excuse but Shikera had arrived at a conclusion already. And it was that she was leaving with Ethan; she didn’t want to care anymore. As soon as she thought that, she felt relief flood her mind and her shoulders felt as if a heavy load had been lifted from them.
However, as happy as Shikera was, she knew there was still a lot she needed to solve. The first thing being that she needed to solve the problem concerning the contract her father and Chris signed. In fact, she needed to do so before anyone of the two men got to know her pregnancy status, and definitely before she could also tell Ethan. She wanted to do all this by herself without his help.
And after that, she could tell him in a grand manner and also apologize for keeping it away from him for so long. Then they could continue their normal lives. She would have to employ a great deal of persuasion techniques for her father of course, but she knew the man would still give in to her.
’You aren’t as stupid as arithmetic makes you look, Kera. You’re the best!’ she complimented herself inwardly, a bright smile spreading on her face.
"What dirty thoughts are going through your mind for your smile to be that wide?" Shikera almost jumped out of her skin in fear when a voice echoed behind her. She immediately reached for her phone which was lying right beside her hand and unlocked it, pressing immediately on the speed dial one. She was calling Ethan.
He was the only one whom she trust would be able to get here before this stalker acted, even if he had to fly. Jeez! How could she have forgotten the island wasn’t as safe as before?
Immediately she saw that he had picked the call, she immediately let out a piercing scream that she believed would be enough to alert him that she was in danger. As expected, Ethan’s voice came through the line,
"Shikera, is that you?" 𝐟𝚛𝕖𝚎𝕨𝗲𝐛𝚗𝐨𝐯𝐞𝕝.𝐜𝗼𝗺
At the same time, the person behind her also talked.
"What the heck? I’m not a seagull that needs to be screamed at before hearing, am I? You always find the chance to..."
All of a sudden, the voice sounded familiar to Shikera’s ears. Why did that sound like Noah? Noah...? Noah??!
It was highly possible for that big brother of hers to be here! With that thought in mind, Shikera turned around to see Noah sauntering leisurely across the face of the rock, towards her. Her eyes widened in surprise as she looked down at her phone, the emergency call she just made. What would Ethan think of that false alarm?
The call had disconnected already so she made a mental note to call him back later. Before that, she had to talk to this man before her.
"What are you doing here, Noah?"
"Looking for you. What else?" came the emotionless reply from Noah whose eyes were sweeping around the area, his eyes glinting in excitement at the discovery of such a landmark. Even though he was in the military, he still had that business sense inherited from his father, to tell that this place would be a real good investment to create a private vacation home or anything on the line.
"What the—Noah, what are you saying? You aren’t supposed to know I’m not home. You helped me find an apartment, remember?" she reminded him.
"Exactly. It came as a surprise when your husband called to ask for my help in looking for you. Fuck! I should have asked for a—"
"Don’t curse," Shikera cut him off, immediately spotting the surprise on her brother’s face when she said that. He had a foul mouth from a young age and Shikera was well aware of it, but this was the first time she was asking him not to curse.
"What the hell does that mean?" Noah asked again.
Shikera sighed. He was really a hard nut to crack.
"Don’t curse, Noah. I don’t want my baby to hear such foul wor—"
"Baby?" Now it was Noah’s turn to interrupt. "Is that a new acronym or...?"
"It means I’m pregnant," Shikera announced.
Just at that moment, Ethan’s face came into view from behind Noah, through the rock opening which they used to come into Paradise.
"Shikera," his voice came out cold, and his face more stony than ever.
