Chapter 290: Elizabeth Jordan.

Shikera turned abruptly, the book in her hand falling to the floor.

"Daddy!" she screamed as she rushed over to his bedside.

Noah’s eyes snapped open at the sudden loud scream, not like he had been deeply asleep previously, but he had been disconnected from the world at least. He got out of bed and went to join Shikera by their father’s bedside, while Ethan went out of the room to get the doctor.

"How are you feeling, Daddy?" Shikera asked.

"As I should," Liam replied. He made to sit up on the bed but fell back as soon as he tried, causing him to turn to Noah. "Help me up."

"The doctor will be here soon. How am I to know if you are allowed to sit up or not? I can’t endure another week sleeping in the hospital bed so just stay put," was Noah’s reply.

Liam shook his head as if he pitied himself for having such a son. He immediately ignored Noah and turned to Shikera, a wide smile blooming on his face.

"How are you?"

Before Shikera could answer him, the door opened and Ethan walked in with a doctor. They had to move away from Liam’s bed to give the doctor space to examine him properly and when the man was done, he breathed a sigh of relief.

"Anything the matter?" Noah asked.

"No, not at all. It’s just, Chairman Anderson just needs a few days of rest before he can be fit enough to travel back home," the doctor replied. He left out telling them that he had been relieved because the whole hospital taskforce could finally rest when this four people left together with their guards who had been patrolling the hospital grounds like there was a ticking bomb hidden in one of the rooms.

"By a few days, what number exactly are we talking about? Seven days?" Ethan asked.

"That’s more than enough. We’ll observe him for the next five days," the doctor replied. He bowed slightly to all four of them before taking his leave from the room.

"There, the doctor said I’m okay, right? Help me up, Noah," Liam stated.

Noah had no restrictions in helping him this time around. Only that his father flung his hand away the moment he was sitting up comfortably, and went to take Shikera’s hand instead.

"How are you feeling, Princess?" he repeated the question he had asked earlier.

"I’m..." Shikera trailed off intentionally creating tension in her father’s heart. "I’m perfectly alright!" she replied, chuckling.

Liam nodded with a smile as he swept his gaze around the room.

"I know I probably shouldn’t ask now but... where is Elizabeth?" he asked suddenly. "Are they alright?"

"They are," Ethan replied. "The Jordans held back their forces for the meantime."

"That’s great," Liam commented.

Ethan took a deep breath in and continued, "I guess you do already know but the one who’s your real daughter hasn’t changed so you don’t have to bother yourself with learning to address Elizabeth as your daughter; she’s just your niece-in-law after all."

Apart from Noah, everyone else in the room were shocked speechless.

"What niece-in-law are you talking about?" Shikera asked, frowning.

"Not to you. Elizabeth is your cousin. Elizabeth Jordan," Ethan stated.

Shikera had a fair understanding of what was going on, as Cyprian had already explained to her that the woman who looked like her mother was called Natasha and was her mother’s twin. But she could not understand the part about her being Elizabeth Jordan.

"If she’s Elizabeth Jordan, does that mean she’s the head of that group daughter instead of me?" she asked.

Ethan nodded, "Exactly. All the details my men got when we wanted to verify your paternity was for her instead, except for the part where it says you had plastic surgery when you were kidnapped," he explained.

"So she didn’t get plastic surgery to look like me?"

"She looks exactly like you because she took after her mom, the same way you took after yours."

Liam interrupted the conversation between the both of them, asking in a solemn voice,"Ethan, you think this is as simple as that? Why would they approach a top family without a foolproof plan that can’t get infiltrated?"

"Because they’ve got sure backings from a team they considered impenetrable. The Jordans," Ethan replied. Seeing the look in both Liam and Noah’s eyes that showed they wanted him to explain more, he cast a quick glance at Shikera and they got the message immediately.

"Cole is nearby. He’ll give you a general briefing of all that he found out," he added.

"Thanks, I’ll take it from here," Noah stated. "They came after my family after all. You can leave the Jordans to me too and take care of your wife."

"Happily," Ethan agreed immediately, much to the surprise of the three other people in the room.

Noah was quick to recover. He stared at Shikera, shaking his head slowly, "You look horrible, Kera. Since your beloved father is awake now, I guess you can leave here and go with your husband to wherever. Just...Go take care of yourself."

As if he had been waiting for Noah to say that, Ethan immediately grabbed Shikera’s hand and pulled her to the door.

"Don’t expect us back today," he stated, and took long strides out of the room.

They walked through the hallway in silence which was broken by a ding notification sound from Shikera’s phone. She took it out to see the message displayed on the screen, which was from Noah.

"That’s your chance. Make sure to grab the opportunity to make him sign the contract," the message read.

Sending out a positive reply, she returned the phone into her back and turned to Ethan.

"Can I use my one hour now?"

"Of course. Where’s our destination?" Ethan asked. They were about to get to the general lobby so he stopped and retrieved a facemask from his pocket, fastening it across his face.
