Chapter 297: Caught In The Act.

"Don’t bother with me, Noah. I’ll be okay soon," she sobbed, picking up her napkin to wipe her tears.

Neither did Noah return to work, nor did he come closer to Shikera, simply leaving her to cry herself out.

"Maybe it would be a good thing if your husband sees you like this," he thought.

"Ladies and gentlemen, please prepare for landing. Please put your seat backs and tray tables in their upright positions. Make sure your seat belts are fastened securely, and place any belongings that you have in the overhead bins under the seat in front of you. We will be landing shortly, and we thank you for choosing our airline. We hope you’ve had a pleasant flight, and we look forward to seeing you again soon."

Hearing the landing announcement from the overhead speakers, Noah leaned forward to pat her shoulder before walking back to take his seat.

Minutes later, Shikera’s face was bright and cheery as she walked out of the eerily quiet arrival hall. No one would be able to think she had been teary eyed and sobbing some minutes ago.

"Why are we using a different arrival entrance from the others? Must you always make things different?" she asked, nudging Noah with her shoulders.

"This is me making everything as normal as it can be, Kera. Don’t stress it. By the way, I was told Mr Stone would be waiting for you with the car," Noah informed.

"Raymond? That’s great. When will you be returning?"

Noah replied, "Immediately we find him. I’ll take the earliest flight back so you can expect me and Dad back day after tomorrow."

"Alright but..." Shikera pointed in the distance, blinking in confusion, "That car does look like one of the cars Raymond and Ethan use. But why is it moving that...oh my god!" she exclaimed the moment it dawned on her what kind of activity was going on in the car.

Noah looked from the car to his sister’s face, his eyebrows raised in suspicions.

"Did you always have such an high intelligence, Kera? Why were you able to tell what’s going on in the car within seconds?" he questioned.

Shikera was immediately able to tell that he was teasing her, but she fell for the trap too easily as her face reddened all over. Now that she thought about it, she and Ethan had been really wild. But not as wild as the person in the car she was staring at presently.

"If it’s Raymond in the car...does this mean he’s cheating on Cyprian?! OMG, I’ll kill him if that happens," she gushed, quickening her steps as she ran to the car.

"Kill him, and I’ll gladly usher you to the court as your one and only brother!" Noah yelled after her.

Shikera ignored his words and slowed her pace as she got nearer to the car. The glass was tinted so she would have to press her face against it to see whoever it was, inside. But was she brave enough to do that?

Of course not.

Therefore, on getting to the car, she stretched her hand to knock on the car window. Once...twice...thrice, and then the all familiar scream came.

"That sounds like—"

"Is that you, Kera?!" Cyprian screamed. If not for Raymond who held her back with all his strength, she’d have jumped out of the car and thrown herself in Shikera’s arms.

Adjusting her top hastily, Raymond only let her go when he saw that she looked a little bit decent. While wearing his own shirt and fastening his zipper, he watched their little reunion party from the window.

Until Noah came to obstruct his view with an almost annoying smile sporting his lips.

"Good work, Brother. I’ll leave Kera in your hands," he said.

"I’ll take it from here," Raymond replied. Exchanging handshakes with Noah, he watched the latter going to join the ladies, probably to say his goodbyes.

The trip back to the DeLoach’s mansion didn’t take more than an hour, an exhausted Shikera, a sleepy Cyprian, and a frustrated Raymond. Minutes of navigating the heavy traffic while having to bear a distraction sitting beside him, was more than enough to irk him up.

"We are here," he called. Turning the key in the ignition to switch off the engine, he looked over his shoulders back at Shikera to see her face scrunched up in discomfort.

"Are you alright?" he asked, worry etched on his temple.

"Yes, I am. One trip to Krystal’s would send this stupid headache away. Don’t bother with me," Shikera replied. She pushed the door open and alighted from the car. "Cyprian’s also coming inside, right? I still have a lot to ask from her."

"Yeah," Raymond nodded, "I’ll just dress her up and bring her in. You should be able to talk to her when she wakes."

"I’ll be waiting then."

Shikera turned and headed to the patio on the front door, taking slow breaths in and out to calm herself down. She would be meeting Chris today, and she dreaded it. Even though she knew there was no reason for her to fear him.

As she stepped out of the garage, her eyes widened when she saw just how many maids and butlers were scurrying around the compound, each of them minding their own businesses. It was just like how it usually was back at The Andersons mansion, but everything looked somehow here. Shikera could immediately tell why the view seemed strange to her eyes.

She had always come here together with Ethan whom the maids and butlers had learnt to avoid so she had never really seen them in their numbers and had just thought of the DeLoachs mansion as one of those quiet ones.

Since none of the workers had discovered her yet, Shikera proceeded to cross the flower garden and climb up the small flight of steps leading to the door when someone screamed, piercing her ears with the sound. 𝘧𝘳𝘦ℯ𝓌𝘦𝒷𝘯𝑜𝑣𝘦𝓁.𝒸𝘰𝓂

It was such a familiar sight...

Esther running towards her while screaming, "Mummy!"
