Chapter 152: Down the Cliff

Roman was dead.

He had fallen down the cliffside, and no one had even bothered to go down for him. But who would? The terrain was too steep, and the wind was extremely strong.

The second event had commenced two days later, and the school had chosen the archer’s range cliffside as the location, the free face to be exact. So right now, everyone was basically hanging on for their lives.

So far, four people hadn’t been so successful. Roman included.

And everyone apart from Theo had been forced to transform into their wolf form, because it was a little easier that way. Longer claws to stick deeper into the stone, a bigger body to go against the wind and more refined senses.

Everyone had changed except her.

And everyone could see that she hadn’t changed, or rather, she refused to. The moment she did, that would be the end of her.

The mission was to capture each other’s flags, which were located on either side of the mountain, for each team. Theodora didn’t know why the Universe hated her so much, because her team members were filled with those she didn’t get along with.

Eric.

Finn

Heather.

Clarke

A few second-years she had beaten up.

And the other team? It was made of the best wolves in school. Theo felt like it had been personally rigged against her because why the hell would anyone put the four kings in one team? That was unfair!

Gravemont has always been unfair! It was aggravating.

The wind howled again, and Theo groaned as she dug her claws even deeper. It was very cold here, and no matter how sharp her eyes were, the wind came with its debris that wanted to turn her blind.

Those in full form alone were still having trouble getting a food grip, and she was only hoping it wouldn’t reach a point where she would have to be forced to change.

If Seraphina emerged, this wouldn’t be a problem anymore.

There wasn’t much she could do. The death toll had risen to seven by the time it was over, and Theo had chosen the easy way and stuck to a small corner by the free face. No wolf could see her around there, and the wind kept spreading everyone’s scent, which made it harder to track anyone.

That was where she had safely remained till it was over. As expected, the other team had stolen their flag.

As everyone stopped trying to kill each other and climbed back to the cliffside, Theo could hear Heather murmuring aggressively to one of her friends who was waiting to help pull her back up.

"Don’t touch me, Gina!"

Gina was lipstick. One of the girls bullying Ava the other day.

"We lost, and I am not in the Mood," She sounded like she wanted to rip something apart, "I knew Gravemont was intense, but I have no idea they were also sick in the head. Why involve women in this kind of bloodbath? They’re really crazy!"

Theo stood up and dusted herself. She was also still reeling from everything, and her ears still rang with the sound of the heavy wind down there.

Up here, there was a bit of mist that had her squinting her eyes to see properly. She would have to go back to the dorm and wash her eyes thoroughly to remove every annoying particle stinging her in them.

Just as she took a step forward to leave, a hand came out of nowhere and shoved her hard backwards.

Theo cried with panic, her heart hammering as she tried to catch her footing, but the shove was too hard. Worst part, she couldn’t see who it was properly with all the squinting and the noise in her ear.

The next second, she was falling off the cliff.

There was no need for Seraphina to wait for the go-ahead this time. Instinct kicked in harder than anything, and her bones shifted along with her amplifying muscles and in a second, a large Silver-white wolf was falling instead.

Quickly, she shoved her claws into the sides, her legs rocking against stones and vibrating along as she tried to force herself to stop. It was harder than it seemed to get a firm grip while falling, and Theo was panicking hard.

*Don’t worry, I got us!*

After seconds of clawing into falling stones, fighting against the harsh wind and all, Seraphina finally caught a firm grip and stopped the crazy fall.

Seraphina breathed hard, her strong heart slamming forcefully inside her chest.

*Did you see who pushed us off?* Theo asked breathlessly.

*I didn’t*

*Could it have been Heather?*

*Naa, she was still babbling to lipstick about Gravemont. It wasn’t her.* Seraphina looked below, then back up, "Let’s get a solid footing first and then talk about this,"

*Solid footing? You mean we climb back up?*

*No, we go down*

*What...* Theo’s scream was carried by the wind just as Seraphina shoved her claws out of the rock they so much suffered to grip on, and then they were falling, *Oh my God!*

*The Ground is close.* Seraphina rolled her eyes at the crying girl, and a few seconds later, her paws hit the ground firmly.

Seraphina shook off all the dust clinging to her fur, then looked around them. The mist was much more concentrated down there, it was colder too and very windy.

*Gravemont is up. How do we get back up?* Theo asked.

*We’ll find a way. We are still in their territory, remember?*

Just then, Seraphina caught the scent of blood coming from a few strides up front. There was a lot of it, and a bad feeling curled up Theo’s spine as they quietly approached it.

Seraphina sniffed the air once, the murmured, *It’s Roman and the other’s blood. They didn’t survive the fall*

Seven deaths. Three females, seven males. Three first years and one Second-year.

*Do you think Gravemont’s gonna come down here to collect their bodies?*

*I highly doubt that* Seraphina replied, *Strong survives. Weak dies off. They’ll only do such if someone who died is from a powerful family*

Theo looked down at the bodies again. She could get a glimpse of them despite the mist, and even though she had never gotten along or even spoken to any of them, she didn’t think leaving them like this was right.

Hence, she spent the next few minutes making a stone grave for each of them. She grabbed their bodies with her teeth and buried each of them under a pile of rocks. Then she placed a unique looking rock atop each grave as the headstone.

*Rest in peace, everyone* She uttered under her breath once she was done, *Rest in peace, Roman*

The moment reminded her of her mother, and it made her eyes cloud with tears.

"Hellcat!!!"

Theo whirled around quickly. Was that Zeke?
