THE GOD EATER-Chapter 115: Utter Disrespect.
She herself stayed in her lair. It was only her zombies that went out to capture Loki.
She stayed behind to control the zombies in safety. So no matter the outcome of the upcoming hunt, she should be completely safe.
With her zombies on the way, she reached out to Jim to get an update on Loki’s position and situation. She used her long-range communication talisman to connect with Jim’s communication talisman.
Since it was a long-range communication talisman, it was capable of connecting with people in the vicinity of the town. Unfortunately, no matter how long she waited for a connection, Jim didn’t respond to her request for a connection.
This lack of communication made her heart sink. Then she shook her head and said, "What a shame. He died so young. I still had great plans for him."
"I only hope they left his body intact. I can still make use of it if it is intact enough."
But just as she was thinking about how to retrieve Jim’s corpse, she began receiving messages from the members of her society. They were calling her to tell her that the people of the Viking Blade Society were attacking them.
It wasn’t one person who was calling to say this. In just one minute, 13 people called to tell her that they were under attack. And this number was only increasing as time went by.
This made her narrow her eyes in suspicion and say, "What is Skarg doing? Is he trying to split my attention and prevent me from going after Loki, or is he truly attacking me? Or is it both?"
As she considered the possibility that Skarg might also be after her life, she couldn’t help but become angry. Her eyes widened in anger, and she shouted, saying, "How dare he? What does he take me for?"
She wasn’t feigning anger at all. Her anger is very real because Skarg had disrespected her by thinking of killing her and insulted her by actually going through with the thought and attempt to kill her.
The anger that swept through her was so much that she made up her mind to kill Skarg and wipe out everyone in his family, too. But no amount of anger could make her change her plans.
Despite all the bad news coming through to her every moment, she didn’t waver from her decision to acquire Loki. Her mind was made up on that, and she was unwilling to disperse her strength to save the people of her sect.
It was easy to keep her mind focused despite the onslaught of bad news because the members of her society are just raw materials for her. She cares for them as much as a farmer cares for the livestock on their farm.
She cares a lot for them because she has spent a lot of resources to raise them, but right now, she cares a lot more for Loki. This is because Loki is a precious resource that she can’t raise, no matter how willing she is to spend.
She would rather give up everyone else for Loki. Even if Loki turns out not to be worth the trade in the future, she can always get back what she lost from Skarg and his family.
This was the decision she made with logic and thorough thought. But this didn’t lessen the sting of Skarg’s attempt on her life. In fact, her anger continued to soar over time, not diminish.
She gritted her teeth until she bit her lips bloody and said, "You will pay for this, Skarg. It seems it has been too long since I last showed my power. I will use you to remind everyone of the fear of the Death Envoy."
This same thing had happened to Rusty of the Rusty Bolts Society, but he had immediately tried to appease Skarg. But Death Envoy is made of different stuff. Not only does she have more self-respect than Rusty, but she also has the power to back it up.
Loki hadn’t told her about his enmity with Skarg and the Rein Family, but he didn’t need to tell her for her to know that there were some hostilities between them. And even if he had told her, the first thought that would appear in her mind in this situation wouldn’t be to hand Loki over.
Even if Loki were some ordinary person, she still wouldn’t give him up to Skarg. She thinks of him as her property, so she won’t surrender him to someone she considers to be at most her peer.
But now that she knows that Loki might be the reincarnation of a great cultivator, there is no way she can give him up. In fact, she has only become more anxious to get to Loki before others.
Her four zombies got to the building where Loki was living and encountered Skarg’s lackeys. She recognized them because their eyes were blank and their faces were devoid of emotion.
There was also the fact that they were currently attacking everyone in the building. Only the people of the Viking Blade Sect are currently doing this.
So she didn’t waste time talking to them. She immediately made her four zombies start attacking them. Not that talking with them will do any good. She knows far too well how these human puppets aren’t talkers.
The four rank 4 zombies attacked without holding back at all. She had no reason to be careful since Skarg was the one who started the fight. So no matter the damage to the city, Skarg would be the one to pay the fines to the city lord.
She sent the four zombies straight to Loki’s room to look for him. Unfortunately for her, the human puppets had gotten there first.
When she got to Loki’s room, she didn’t see him there. This made the anger that she had been holding back shoot straight into her head. Her vision blurred and became tinted with red.
