THE GOD EATER-Chapter 177: Level Of Skill.
Because of the speed of the mech, everyone else arrived on the airship much later than Greg. People like Loki, who stayed at the back of the group just in case of any sudden problems, arrived last to the airship.
Because he was observing everything with a critical gaze, he was able to notice that the airship had changed since the last time he saw it. It had become armored, and its guns had been upgraded.
Not only had the cannons been changed, but there were also two flak guns and eight machine guns on the deck.
The two flak guns were placed with one on either side of the deck. The machine guns were also distributed with four on each side of the deck.
Aside from the changes to the firepower and defense of the airship, he also noticed that the masts had been reinforced and the sails had become bigger and were now using more durable materials.
But this was only the surface changes. After the airship started its engine, Loki was sure that the engine had also been upgraded. This was because the sound the engine made was different from what he knew it used to make.
The sound of the engine was smoother and more powerful. The engine practically roared to life, and the power that it delivered to the airship made the airship accelerate to full speed quickly.
All of these changes made Loki nod in appreciation and say to himself, "Impressive. It is truly worthy of the caliber of a man like Greg. Now, both he and his airship are big and loud."
He was joking, of course. There are many things that he can joke about the airship, especially since he knew for a fact that a lot of people died for the airship. But no matter how frivolous he was, he couldn’t disregard the fact that this airship could carry Greg’s mech.
He had to take the sight of the mech seriously. In fact, most of his attention was on the mech after the airship took to the sky. He went up to the mech and went around it as he examined every inch of it.
No matter how curious he was, he didn’t touch the mech. But he could examine it without touching it with his hands through the aid of the Telekinesis Metac.
He used the Telekinesis Metac to probe the mech all over. It was as if he was scanning it with his mind. He was able to see past its surface to look at the underlying structures.
Unfortunately, no matter how detailed the scan is, it can only grant him information about the physical structure and materials used to build the mech. The scan couldn’t tell him the function of the structures at all.
In his mind, the Telekinesis Metac created an image similar to an X-ray image. The main difference between the image in his mind and a normal X-ray image is that the one in his mind is three-dimensional. So it was more similar to an MRI.
Just like an X-ray image would be useless to a layman but be highly informative to a technician, the amount of information that could be gleaned from the image in his mind is entirely dependent on skill.
Every forger will be able to see the image he is seeing through the scan with the Telekinesis Metac. But only a few of them will be able to tell that the frame of the mech is made out of titanium, which means it is a rank 4 mech.
Even fewer will be able to tell the energy reactor apart from the power coupling core or tell that the mech has one rocket launcher, two grenade launchers, two Gatling guns, two missile launchers, one shield, and three compressed spears.
Above this level of skill is the level of skill needed to tell where the sensors of the mech are. This is the kind of skill needed to identify the weakness in the stabilizers and the location of the fuel dump.
Loki only possesses the amount of skill needed to tell where the guns on the mech were and how powerful they were. What he saw made him whistle in appreciation.
He said to himself, "It is both a puppet, a golem, and a combat armor. It can operate independently as a golem or as a puppet with remote control from Greg, and it can also be manually controlled from within the cockpit as a mech."
"It is full of so many features. It must be very expensive to make." 𝒇𝒓𝙚𝒆𝔀𝓮𝓫𝒏𝓸𝙫𝓮𝓵.𝓬𝙤𝙢
But the thing he was most focused on was the fact that the mech was a rank 4 one. This reminded him of Rusty and the Rusty Bolts Society.
As he thought of his old stomping grounds, he said to himself, "It is true that I never learned to forge rank 4 mechs. Did Greg build this himself, or did he buy it? I could learn from him if he built it himself. But that will be difficult to do."
Then he remembered his Life Ability, so he shrugged and said to himself, "Forget about it. I already have the Shifting Armor Life Ability, and it is at rank 5, so I don’t need to learn how to make rank 4 mechs."
As he was admiring the mech, Greg caught him staring and said, "Do you like my little big boy?"
Loki nodded and said, "Yeah. It is not bad."
His words made Greg scoff and say, "Of course, it is not bad. But it is better than not bad. It is well above average for a rank 4 mech."
To which Loki replied with enthusiasm, "If you say so."
This time, Greg was too dissatisfied with his reply to continue trying. So he snorted and said, "What a waste of time. Why should I waste my time impressing the importance of something to you that you have no knowledge of?"
Then he ignored Loki and focused on driving the airship.
