The Grants: Choosing One Between The Two-Chapter 208: Only Michelle Lockwood Can Handle a Shrew
"Oh, by the way, Holly’s off today and said she’s coming to hang out with you." Ethan Grant walked a few steps and then looked back at Yvette Aston.
With Holly accompanying Yvette, he could feel more at ease.
Yvette Aston looked at Ethan Grant in shock.
Before she came here, the butler specifically told her that Mr. Grant is a neat freak, enjoys peace, and absolutely no outsiders are allowed in the house, as it would upset Mr. Grant.
Yet he... seems to be really indulgent towards her.
...
Grant Group.
"Mr. Grant, you’re finally here. The chairman wants to fire Yvette Aston, saying that her mother causing a scene at the company has disrupted its normal operations." As soon as Lilith Larson saw Ethan Grant arrive, she eagerly approached him.
"Who says that’s Yvette’s mother?" Ethan Grant questioned sternly.
Everyone was shocked. Wasn’t that shrew Yvette’s mother?
"The chairman is waiting for you in the office..." Arthur Grant’s assistant was also waiting for Ethan Grant.
Ethan Grant snorted coldly and went straight to the elevator.
Meeting room.
Arthur Grant was already waiting for Ethan Grant, having anticipated his arrival.
"I heard you want to fire my personal assistant?" Once in the office, Ethan Grant got straight to the point, asking directly.
"What? I can’t fire a minor assistant?" Arthur Grant spoke in a heavy tone, slapping the table. "The company is in chaos, what are you doing!"
"May I ask, what mistake did my assistant make?" Ethan Grant looked at Arthur Grant coldly.
The father and son were in a standoff, clearly, Arthur Grant’s aura was not as overpowering as Ethan Grant’s.
Arthur Grant naturally backed down, even feeling a bit tense in the back.
The son has grown up and seems to be rebelling.
"Brother, how can you talk to Dad like that? He’s an elder, our father, you should respect him." Jayden Grant, sitting to the side, added fuel to the fire.
"When I talk to my dad, is it your place, a bastard child, to chime in?" Ethan Grant no longer hid his disdain for Jayden Grant.
No matter what his mother did, just for those things Jayden Grant did to Yvette, he deserves to die a million times.
"Dad..." Jayden Grant, rendered speechless by Ethan Grant’s scolding, could only look to Arthur Grant for help.
It was clear that this was a lapse on Arthur Grant’s part, and apart from being sullen, he could say nothing.
"Get out, you disgraceful thing!" Ethan Grant ordered Jayden Grant to leave, wanting to speak with Arthur Grant alone.
"You!" Jayden Grant clenched his fists tightly, feeling that Ethan Grant had gone too far.
"Get out first." Arthur Grant also spoke, telling Jayden Grant to leave.
Jayden Grant’s face darkened further, storming out in a rage.
Ethan Grant!
He was determined to make Ethan Grant lose completely, trample him underfoot!
Never allow him to rise again!
Just wait!
...
Downstairs at Grant Group.
Caden Summers and Michelle Lockwood arrived a bit later than Ethan Grant.
"Mom, this is a society governed by law, if you come here causing trouble with some relatives, do you think... you’ll be taken away by the police?" Caden Summers tried to persuade May Larson to leave.
"Don’t side with outsiders. I want to see Yvette. I’m her mother, and I want her to resign. I’m not well and need her to come home to take care of me!" May Larson continued to shout, demanding Yvette come home.
Caden Summers stood beside May Larson. "Mom, I’m giving you one more chance."
May Larson snorted and continued to make a scene.
Michelle Lockwood remained unusually quiet this time, standing aside, her gaze fixed on Caden Summers.
He had a gloomy expression, making him seem pitiful.
Growing up in such a family... how much suffering and grievance had he endured.
Because it’s Caden Summers’ mother, Michelle Lockwood didn’t interject for the time being, wanting to see Caden’s attitude and how he would handle the situation.
"I wasn’t well in prison. I only served time for her sake. It’s only right she quits and takes care of me at home!" May Larson continued to shout.
"If you’re unwell, I’ll quit and take care of you." Caden Summers reached out to pull May Larson, trying to forcibly drag her away.
May Larson threw a tantrum, sitting on the ground refusing to leave, even scolding Caden Summers. "You fool, I see you’ve been bewitched by that little vixen! You’re so stupid, she went to jail, yet you help raise her child. If it weren’t for that little burden, wouldn’t you have a girlfriend by now? Who would dare marry you without getting rid of these burdens!"
Caden Summers stood there stiffly, looking at May Larson in shock.
He also began to doubt, was Yvette truly May Larson’s biological daughter, his own sister?
If they were mother and daughter, why was there such a disparity?
Yvette is obviously such a kind woman, so why does she have a mother like May Larson?
"Are you leaving?" Caden Summers asked, his voice hoarse.
"I’m not leaving! I won’t leave." May Larson continued to make a scene.
Caden Summers nodded. "Fine, then continue making a scene here."
He turned around, calling the police, informing them that there was a disturbance in front of Grant Group, obstructing the company’s normal operations.
Caden Summers knew Ethan Grant didn’t call the police out of consideration for Yvette, and Arthur Grant didn’t call the police because he wanted her to make a scene here on purpose.
But he could call the police.
May Larson, having just been released from prison, feared the police the most, lest she be captured again.
Clearly, May Larson didn’t expect her own son to actually call the police on her!
Looking at Caden Summers in shock, May Larson frantically rushed to hit him.
Michelle Lockwood instinctively stepped forward, standing in front of Caden Summers.
The slap intended for Caden Summers landed on Michelle Lockwood’s face instead.
Caden Summers’ heart tightened, instinctively shielding Michelle Lockwood in his arms, glaring at May Larson with intense anger. "Are you crazy?! Do you even know who she is?!"
May Larson, agitated by Caden Summers, continued causing a scene. "I don’t care who she is. Coming close is asking for a hit!"
Michelle Lockwood furrowed her brows, her eyes darkening slightly.
She removed her hat and mask, pointing to her slightly reddened, fair cheek. "Madam, do you have any idea how much my face is worth?" 𝒻𝘳ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝒷𝘯ℴ𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝑐ℴ𝑚
"There are also cameras here. You hit me, which amounts to intentional injury. My lawyer is on the way, and I’m demanding a medical examination. If my eardrum is accidentally perforated or there are other injuries that constitute minor injuries, do you know how many years of sentencing and how much compensation that entails?"
Michelle Lockwood looked at May Larson.
May Larson, clearly unaware of Michelle Lockwood’s identity, showed no signs of restraint in her rudeness.
"Oh, I forgot to introduce myself. I am Caden Summers’ boss. The eighty thousand dollars a month he makes is paid by me. His job is to protect me, and my face is insured. When he signed the contract, it was stipulated that if I get hurt while he’s acting as my bodyguard, not only does the contract get terminated, but a three-million-dollar loss fee also has to be paid." Michelle Lockwood held up three fingers to May Larson.
Instantly, May Larson fell silent, staring in shock at Michelle Lockwood, then glancing at Caden Summers. "The generous boss you mentioned, that’s her...?"
Caden Summers, with a sullen face, replied, "Yes."
"No... this is all a misunderstanding, ma’am. It’s a misunderstanding, I didn’t hit you on purpose, see, why don’t you hit me back?" May Larson panicked. She had worked as a maid for wealthy families for years and understood when to yield.
This Michelle Lockwood exuded an air of wealth from head to toe, and her face was clearly the result of high-end skincare products.
She naturally couldn’t afford to compensate.
"Oh no..." May Larson cried out of fear, pleading with Caden Summers. "Caden, please ask your boss not to fire you. What should we do?"
